Algorithms for scheduling with conflicts
Zajíček, Ondřej ; Sgall, Jiří (advisor) ; Čepek, Ondřej (referee)
Scheduling with conflicts supposes graph of conflicts. Vertices of that graph represent machines and edges represent conflicts between them. Every machine can be switched on or switched off . Two conflicting machines cannot be both switched on at the same time. At certain times new tasks arrive to speci c machines and enqueue to its input buff ers. Each machine continuously processes tasks from its input bu ffer whenever it is switched on. An algorithm decides which machines should be switched on or switched o ff at any time, obeying conflict constraints. The objective is to schedule machine switching to minimize the maximum bu er size of all processors. The problem is online, so an algorithm has to make decisions about current con ffiguration without knowledge of future tasks. In this thesis I consider the algorithm based on maximization of scalar product of work vector (vector describing con guration of machines) and vector of bu ffer lengths. I prove that this algorithm is well de ffined, finite on every input and for speciffi c graph (path of length 3) it has competitive ratio of 7=3. Further I consider possibilities of implementation of that algorithm.

Y chromosome in the mouse hybrid zone
Rubík, Pavel ; Munclinger, Pavel (advisor) ; Zemanová, Barbora (referee)
The contact zone between subspecies of house mouse Mus musculus musculus and Mus musculus domesticus is one of the most intensively studied hybrid zones. It is also due to extensive introgression of the Y chromosome of M. m. musculus subspecies to the genetic background of M. m. domesticus. One theory of the origin of the introgression explains it by intragenomic conflict between the sexes. With a set of variable microsatellite markers on the Y chromosome, I have examined the validity of this theory by simple approaches revealing the history of the introgression area. It turned out that overly big variability of our markers makes the revelation of this theory impossible. Our markers have been found suitable for use in the analysis of population structure of house mouse. Thanks to them, we can identify migrants between localities and estimate the level of closeness of the population structure in relation to migrants from the neighborhood. Populations in our analysis proved to be relatively closed and resistant to the influx of migrants. Despite the conclusions of previous research where the dispersion of males ran up to one kilometer, I have discovered a relatively large number of migrations to a distance of thirty kilometers. Keywords Mus musculus musculus, Mus musculus domesticus, Y chromosome,...

An Introduction to the Main Terms and Problems of "Surveillance Studies" (according to D. Lyon)
Zwyrtek, David ; Marcelli, Miroslav (advisor) ; Slavíček, Daniel (referee)
The main aim of this diploma thesis is to articulate the basic problems and terms of the "Surveillance Studies". The grounds of the discipline are described in eight subchapters according to one of the founders of the discipline prof. David Lyon. Gradual formation and development of the surveillance and the surveillance society, relationships between surveillance and modernity, Foucault's conception of panoptism and Orwell's Big Brother are outlined in this point. Later on are specific terms of "Surveillance Studies" explained and applied on real cases of the systems of surveillance. The application of the terms on the real cases should prove the hypothesis, that actual shape of the theory of surveillance is no more sufficient.

Gothic painted decorations in the Gallery of the castle in Lidzbark Warminski a bohemian track in northern poland ii.: materials signs of provenance
Hradil, David ; Hradilová, J. ; Švarcová, Silvie ; Bezdička, Petr ; Čermáková, Zdeňka ; Bartlová, M.
Materials research was aimed at finding specific characteristics, which could indicate the provenance of mural paintings uncovered in Bishops castle in Lidzbark Warmiński, northeast Poland. An expected relation of these murals to Bohemian artistic workshops, which were active in the 14th century at the Emperor Charles IV’s court in Prague, was supported by further exact data. The lead-tin yellow – type II was identified by X-ray microdiffraction; up to the present day, this uncommon modification of the pigment was proved solely in the Bohemian painting of the 14th century (e.g. Master of Třeboň altarpiece) and in the Italian painting of the 14th to 16th century. Nickel is an element accompanying natural iron-based pigments and was found both in the painting and the drawing, respectively. It is possible to demonstrate that this admixture indicates the source locality of the pigment in Lower Silesia, which belonged to the Kingdom of Bohemia in the 14th century and was exploited for chrysoprases – green gemstones frequently appearing in Bohemian jewellery and wall decorations (St. Wenceslas chapel in the Prague’s cathedral, Karlštejn Castle). Lidzbark murals exhibit features similar to the panel painting, e.g. the use of tempera, natural chalk in the preparatory layer, lead pigments and madder lakes in the painting. The madder was extracted from the wool fibres, which are still clearly visible in the samples.

Arvo Pärt - The Choral Tintinnabuli Compositions
Christou, Marios ; Nedělka, Michal (advisor) ; Pecháček, Stanislav (referee)
This diploma work deals with Arvo Part's latest period, the so called "Tintinnabuli" style. The purpose of this diploma is to analyze six Tintinnabuli choral compositions and to discover the well "hidden" quality. To find the origin of the various components that comprised it (melody, harmony, voice leading, form) and to explain as clear as possible the way in which the composer combines them together in a fascinating way, but at the same time having his personal "voice". Consequently, this diploma work has, as its aim, to prove the importance of this new style and how it can be a great contribution in the history of music. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Methods of teaching literature of the world
Hien, Phung Thi Phuong ; Kolář, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Vališová, Alena (referee) ; Raudenská, Věra (referee)
The aim of this dissertation is to help to improve the quality of teaching world literature in Vietnam, while making use of the experience with teaching this literature at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. This dissertation is based on studying professional pedagogical texts, as well as on hands-on teaching experience both in Vietnam and in the Czech Republic. Treatises and studies mainly by Czech authors and to a certain extent also by educationalists of worldwide reputation have served as theoretical background. Textbooks in both Vietnam and the Czech Republic may well be of use. This work is also founded on the author's practical experience with teaching from Vietnam. The cooperation with Czech teachers has proved extremely interesting and helpful in a number of points. Firstly, I had the chance to observe a number of lessons. Secondly, interviews with teachers and specialists have been a source of practical experience and information for me. Furthermore, there are experimental classes, to which the methods I suggested were applied to. With regard to surveys and conditions in Vietnamese schools, the proposed methods of teaching world literature will be adapted to teaching literature in Vietnam, while respecting the cultural, social, geographical and philosophical differences between Vietnam and...

Convexity in chance constraints programming
Olos, Marek ; Kopa, Miloš (advisor) ; Adam, Lukáš (referee)
1 Abstract: This thesis deals with chance constrained stochastic programming problems. We consider several chance constrained models and we focus on their convexity property. The thesis presents the theory of α-concave functions and measures as a basic tool for proving the convexity of the problems. We use the results of the theory to prove the convexity of the models first for the continu- ous distributions, then for the discrete distributions of the random vectors. We characterize a large class of the continuous distributions, that satisfy the suffi- cient conditions for the convexity of the given models and we present solving algorithms for these models. We present sufficient conditions for the convexity of the problems with dicrete distributions, too. We also deal with the algorithms for solving non-convex problems and briefly discuss the difficulties that can occur when using these methods.

Dreams and other formations in communication with self and with others
Písecká, Petra ; Kučera, Miloš (advisor) ; Viktorová, Ida (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to accentuate the communicational aspect of dealing with unconscious manifestations, with emphasis on handling dreams. Based on the analysis of Sigmund Freud's texts, it examines the ways in which we can talk about dreams and other unconscious manifestations and what influence such talk has on the individuals participating in the communicational process. The thesis charts several of Sigmund Freud's important texts that are used as a basis to prove that thanks to the mystery surrounding it, a dream can exert significant influence on communication. Sigmund Freud's theory was chosen for this thesis, whose works about dreams and whose interest in examining unconscious manifestations, such as forgetting, slipping of the tongue, faulty acts and other, contain a communicational potential, whose surface Freud barely scratches, or which he often treats with outright neglect. The communicational aspect of Freud's works is accentuated thanks to Roman Jakobson's theory of communication. Keywords: dream, faulty acts, communication

Design of the fluorescence microscope for carbon nanotubes spectroscopy
Borovský, Ján ; Novotný,, Karel (referee) ; Novotný, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with design, implementation and testing of fluorescence microscope intended for carbon nanotubes spectroscopy. Theory of fluorescence resulting from solid state physics and atomic structure of nanotubes is briefly discussed. The basic idea, optical scheme and optical elements used in the fluorescence microscope are described based on requirements resulting from the theory. The thesis mentions the sample preparation procedure and measurements of its optical activity as well. Realized microscope is usable for fluorescence measurements within the supposed range of wavelengths as was proved by testing.
