Thin Films with Photoresponse Modulation
Klusoň, Petr ; Morozová, Magdalena ; Dzik, P. ; Veselý, M. ; Kubáč, L.
The deposition of the thin special UV filter on the prepared TiO2/ITO electrode causes the active TiO2 layer area covering. This partially covered electrode will produce various values of the photogenerated current depending on the covered area. This effect can be used in the field of sensors, e.g. photoresponding protection elements.

The Adsorption of Phospholipids at the Interface
Sokolová, Romana ; Kocábová, Jana ; Parisová, Martina ; Navrátil, Tomáš ; Gál, Miroslav
The adsorption of phospholipids on different types of substrate was studied. The adsorbate-surface interactions play an important role in the formation of supported phospholipid bilayer. The deposition of phospholipids on atomically flat surfaces as mica, gold(111), highly oriented graphite and rough surface of polycarbonate membrane is compared. The supported phospholipids bilayer covers some small defects (5 – 30 nm deep) present in rough polycarbonate membrane.

An in vitro cultivation technique has been developed that allows to reproducibly obtain and propagate a heterogenous population of epithelial cells from samples of normal mammary glands, breast tumours and subcutaneous metastases of breast cancer. The epithelial origin of cultured cells was proved by their cytokeratin profile, and EMA and ESA protein expression. The technique uses a feeder layer of irradiated NIH 3T3 cells to support clonal growth of even single isolated cells. Cultures were successfully established from 96% of surgical tumour biopsy specimens (69 out of 72, volume of sample about 1 cm3) and 67% of true-cut biopsy specimens (28 out of 42, volume 0.01 cm3). Two and more in vitro passages were obtained with 74% (53 out of 72) of surgical specimens and 31% (13 out of 42) of truecut biopsy specimens. This is the first report of successful in vitro propagation of cells obtained from breast cancer via true-cut biopsy. In cell populations analyzed for the growth properties, the culture lifetime, related to the number of colony-forming cells, varied for cells from benign tumours between 22 and 40 cell populations and for malignant tumours between 21 and 51. The population doubling time varied betwen 18 and 62 hours for benign cultures and 10 and 127 hours for malignant cultures, with average 32...

Influence of Cathode and Nozzle Wear on Distributions of Fluctuations in Cutting Arc
Gruber, Jan ; Šonský, Jiří ; Hlína, Jan
Electric arc produced by cutting plasma torch was observed by CCD camera. Fluctuations in arc plasma intensity were examined in several frequency intervals up to 50 kHz and distributions of their intensities were compared. Plasma torch was operated repeatedly in fixed-time cycles resulting in progressive wear of cathode and nozzle. Changes in distribution of overall arc intensity are rather small, showing compression and expansion zones. However, distributions of fluctuations intensities differ significantly during the nozzle lifecycle, exhibiting formation of double-layer structure and other noticeable changes. The fluctuation distributions are also influenced by frequency interval chosen for the analysis.

Vondrák, Jiří ; Koten, S. ; Maršík, P.
Thin layer electrodes based on SnO2 were prepared by two methods and their electrical and electrochemical properties were compared.

Syntactically-based classification of Czech sentences
Kríž, Vincent ; Mírovský, Jiří (referee) ; Vidová Hladká, Barbora (advisor)
Classification of syntactically meaningful sentences is a very useful task for the applications of natural language processing, for example machine translation, search engines and question answering systems. The theoretical linguistic research considers the language to be a system of layers. In our project, a term 'to-be-meaningful' will be specified with respect to this point of view. Namely, the morphological and syntactic layers will be considered. A knowledge-based algorithm classifying a string of Czech words being either meaningful or meaningless will be proposed and implemented. Before being classified, strings will be pre-processed by the external modules. Czech will be used as the object language.

Automatic annotation of English on the tectogrammatical level
Toman, Josef ; Hajič, Jan (advisor) ; Žabokrtský, Zdeněk (referee)
Tectogrammatical layer is very complex and its annotation is di cult and expensive. Unlike other corpora, the Prague English Dependency Treebank (pedt) is based on data for which there already exists a syntactic annotation, even though a fundamentally di erent one. The goal of this work is to propose and implement methods of automatic annotation that are using the available data and (preferably) would lead to minimization of the e ort needed for a manual annotation. A high-quality evaluation is important so that the contribution of the used methods can be veri ed. Tens of modules, which focus on various aspects of annotation, were created. The analysis of their activity is complicated and required a complex system to be created. The analyses created with it are very detailed. The outcome is positive and urges to continue the work and extend it further.

Vodivé filmy poly[(ethylendioxy)thiofénu]
Biler, B. ; Vrbová, H. ; Nešpůrek, Stanislav
Poly[3,4-(ethylenedioxy)thiophene] films were prepared by oxidative polymerization using iron(III) tosylate in alcoholic medium. The films form two types of layers; the first deposited, insoluble layer shows AC electrical conductivity ranging from 35 to 40.S.cm.sup.-1./sup., the top, soluble layer shows a much higher conductivity.

António Lobo Antunes: extent of a novel
Špánková, Silvie ; Vydrová, Hedvika (advisor) ; Housková, Anna (referee) ; Burianová, Zuzana (referee)
Antonio Lobo Antunes (1942) is not only a writer who, in a very personal way, depicts contemporary Portuguese society: he is also an artist who cares about the aesthetic value of his works refining permanently his tools in view of transforming the art of the novel. We decided thus to reflect on the creative process in Lobo Antunes' works giving a more accurate definition of their generic features. The writer himself opened a way for us to reflect, having entitled some of his works by an explicit generic or parageneric reference: An Explanation of the Birds (1981), Act of the Damned (1985), Treatise of the sours Passions (1990), The Inquisitors' Manual (1996) and Don't Go So Fast Into That Dark Night (2000), referred to as a poem. The starting point and the basic methodological tool of our analyses is Genette's theory of the paratext and the so-called generic modulation, which is based on genre theories developed by J. M. Schaeffer, Aguiar e Silva, Fowler, Genette and Reis. These tools allow us to explore not only the semantic link between a title (or a generic indication) and a literary text, but also the signs of the architextual, generic and discoursive layers. The aim of the thesis is to demonstrate how Lobo Antunes, in different moments of his literary career, worked out his processes, how different...
