History and Development of Artificial Inteligence
Kraitz, Petr ; Jirků, Petr (advisor) ; Berka, Petr (referee)
This work describes relatively short history of the field of Artificial Intelligence. It contains main obstacles and challenges, which scientists in the past and present solved and still have to solve, as well as a description of methods how to deal with those challenges and which possibilities are there for the future development of the field. The main focus of the work was not to present a full picture of the field of Artificial Intelligence, but to introduce this interesting field, its founders and nowadays scientists, main problems and related disciplines of science. The work is divided into chapters describing the history of the field artificial intelligence in the last century and related fields of informatics, biology, psychology, economy and hardware technology. Next chapter presents to the reader the main problems of the field, which were and still are being solved in the top research and development laboratories in the world. Next two chapters introduce two approaches to dealing with said problems, namely neural networks and evolutional algorithms and expert systems as an example of the oldest application of Artificial Intelligence in "Good Old-fashioned Artificial Intelligence" way as defined by John Haugeland. The last chapter is just an outline how the next few years in the filed may look like and what can we await in the next years.

Fine art oriented education with focus on personages of the fine art outputs. Art project for children of secondary school age.
LEBAROVÁ, Anastazija
I approached my bachelor work as an art project. In theoretical part of my work I deal with terms and areas of fine art from which I proceed into formation of my art project. I characterise art project method. I present basic definition of art expressive types of pupils, short characteristic of secondary school age of children for whom the project is intended. In relation to mental development in this age I also mention a crisis of child?s art expression which appears in its art development. In the end I present basic information about the artists whom I choose for my art project. Particular topics of art activities are inspired by outputs and working styles of mentioned artists and they are intended to help develop children?s relation towards art through their oven art experience.

Mobbing in the Helping Professions.
KRŠIAKOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor thesis focuses on mobbing in helping professions - that is bullying among employees. This topic has been already discussed for several years nonetheless the problem apparently remains unsolved. It is a complicated task to determine when an exchange of views or a conflict turns into mobbing. Each individual of course reacts to this situation differently. I think that these days are mentally challenging for all of us, which implies that there is often only a short step for people to turn conflicts into mobbing. Most attention in my thesis is given to professions such as nurses, doctors and workers in centers for people with disabilities. The theoretical part handles with description and recognition of mobbing. I also described the definition of harassment, aggression as socially pathological phenomenon, issues of interpersonal conflict, interpersonal relationships and interactions with others. In the practical part there is a summary of written responses relating to harassment in the helping professions. Respondents were divided into three groups and the results of each were compared to the other groups. The respondents that took part in my research were aware of the fact that the questionnaire is exclusively anonymous. The quantitative research included 23 questionnaires. Of the 150 pieces total were 90 filled in questionnaires returned back, which stands for 60 %. The survey was carried out from 27th February to 18th March 2012. The main aim of my thesis was to determine which one of the helping professions is threatened mobbing the most in České Budějovice. On the basis of the survey, I have come to the conclusion that nurses have the highest incidence of harassment and it is in 63 % of the cases. I expect my project to be used as a background information material that could serve as a help to prevent harassment by people in the helping professions.

Is Swedish snus a preventive substitute for cigarettes?
Oppoyen, Fredrik ; Černá, Milena (advisor)
This is a review paper on the usage of smokeless tobacco, snus. A narrative view of published papers and other date sources (for example, internet-base information) on snus use, use of other tobacco products, and changes in health status in Sweden and Norway. The snus consumption have increased substantially during the recent decades and today more than every fifth male adult uses snus daily in Norway and Sweden. Some of the publications made from snus are written in Scandinavia, and therefore some of the papers are directly translated from Scandinavian into English. It must be emphasized that this is not a study on snus, rather a review paper. This text will shortly be about the dramatic increase in snus usage among adults in Scandinavia, mainly Sweden and Norway the last decade and their short and longterm effects. In the recent times the tobacco industry has been active in developing and marketing new products that might be perceived as less harmful to health than typical cigarettes. At the same time, there has been an increasingly vigorous debate within the public health community over the most appropriate response to the new products being developed by the industry. In this debate, public health advocates have been mindful of the historical precedents set by previous tobacco industry attempts to...

Comparison of european banks profitability
Šebor, Jan ; Dvořák, Petr (advisor) ; Tuček, Miroslav (referee)
The aim of this paper is to determine, whether the conclusions reached by some authors about the influence of the development of the financial system, bank size and taxation on bank profitability are also applicable to the European banking sector. This thesis is divided into 4 thematic parts. The first part tries to summarize the recent events that have had influence on the European banking sector as well as on the whole world and sum up their possible impact on bank profitability. A lot of attention is paid to the events of 2007 and 2008. The second and third subsection describes the basic theory, on which the thesis is build on. The balance and income statement is analysed in short as well. Further, an insight into the profitability ratios is given, because the comparison of these ratios is the centre of this paper. The forth, methodological, subsection and the fifth as well are focusing on the process contiguous our comparison. The data selection process and the influences on it are described in this section. The section also includes the fundamental base and hypotheses. The profitability comparison can be found in the next three subsections. The banks are not looked at as individual institutions, but there are concentrated into bigger units, based on country of residence and size. The last section deals with the influence of taxation on bank's profitability. The conclusion is dedicated to a summary of all the findings that were discovered during the previous sections.

No pain, no gain. A study in narratives of suffering. Kaye Gibbons's Ellen Foster & Lauren Slater's Lying
Libovická, Barbora ; Ulmanová, Hana (advisor) ; Roraback, Erik Sherman (referee)
"The experience of suffering both provokes and resists narration. It is at the hearl of many of the world's great stories (the Odyssey, the Book of Job, the Gospels, the Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost) and yet absent, in a fundamental way, from every story. Because intense suffering takes language away, retrospective narration can seem futile, even falsifying. Moreover, it often raises more questions than it answers. (Who or what is responsible for suffering? Is it merited? What ends it? How can it be made commensurable with the rest of ones's life? What is its meaning? How does one cope with it?) In spite of all this, sufferers continue to tug at the shirls/eeves of passersby, and passersby continue to stop, listen and fall into the sufferers's story. Why?" My opening paragraph is a description of a course that I discovered in the Bard College Course Catalogue for the fall semester 2001 - the year of the falling towers. I was immediately intrigued by the description, having myself experienced great loss, and suffering from it again despite a long passage of time and coping. The course was called Narratives of Suffering, drew on literature from the American literary canon, and proved to be very enriching and inspiring. Starting chronologically with short stories of captivity and shipwreck narratives, we later...
