Specifics of senior education
Jiráčková, Libuše ; Štěpánek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Šerák, Michal (advisor)
Aged people study to give a reason to their life, to raise their self-confidence and to improve their social status. But that is not all. It is mostly psychological, fyziological and social problem. Emeritus person is, unfortunately, usually drove out to the edge of society and is called useless. For a lot of seniors is this feeling an impulse to prove that they are still able to do some work. In connection with this feeling it is needed to separate life of a person to three periods, which are bound to the ability of doing work. In the first period the person is thinking of his education - he studies. In the second period he concentrates most of his attention on the possibilities of his professional application and in the third period he focuses on creating the evenfall of his life, when the orientation on the material being is fading away. A person is mostly turning back to his suspended plans and unfilled educational dreams. (Ten years of educational activities for seniors, 1997)

Hannah Arendt's concept of thought and action
Štech, Daniel ; Němec, Václav (referee) ; Kouba, Pavel (advisor)
The present thesis follows the distinction made by Hannah Arendt between the life of the mind and vita activa. In her earlier writings, Arendt presents acting in concert as a supreme human possibility. The devaluation of active life in the Western tradition is seen as related to the subordination of the experience of action to the experience of thought, which presupposes a turning away from the world of phenomena and plurality. With respect to the ability to act, Arendt understands thought as marginal or even detrimental. On this note, she contrasts thought with opinion, a specifically political attitude bound to the experience of action and plurality. Following the process with Eichmann, however, this image saw a revision. With the collapse of the public sphere, the dependence of the ability to tell right from wrong on the activity of thought became more prominent. Subsequent considerations therefore shift to the sphere of the mind. In the light of the corpus of Arendt's works, the present thesis enquires into the nature of mental acts required for adequate action. The first part presents political thought within the situation of plurality. The second part takes into account the collapse of the public sphere and deals with the uneasy relationship between thought and the ability to relate to the common...

TITLE: Diagnosis of communication disability for people with Parkinson s disease AUTHOR: Hana R i ková Mgr. DEPARTMENT: Special education department SUPERVISOR: Ji ina Klenková, Doc. PaedDr., PhD. ABSTRACT: The doctoral thesis deals with diagnosing communication disability for people with Parkinson s disease (PD). PD is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder associated with high occurrence of hypokinetic dysarthria (HD). The theoretical part of the thesis characterizes Parkinson s disease, weak and strong points of logopaedic diagnostics and describes HD. The empirical part of the thesis is based on quantitative research. The aims of our study were to modify test Dysarthric profile 3F to be more sensitive to mild stage of HD, to detect HD symptoms in early untreated PD patiens, to notice HD progression in retest, to objectify results of clinical evaluation by acoustic measurments and to detect subjective perception of patient s own speech. We studied people with PD and neurologically healthy control speakers. We evaluated HD in 50% PD subjects in early untreated stage of PD and in 74% PD speakers in retest. We observe that between the most sensitive diagnostical tasks in clinical evaluation with high correlation with acoustic analysis belong evaluation of hoarse voice in sustained phonation of vowels and...

The Ability of the Financial Statements of Insolvent Companies to Provide Reliable Information
Hospodka, Jan ; Randáková, Monika (advisor) ; Bokšová, Jiřina (referee)
This thesis aims to analyse the financial statements of entities that filed for bankruptcy in 2015. Firstly, the theoretical part of the thesis provides explanations for technical jargon in relation to insolvency and subsequent proceedings in relation to entities that went bankrupt. Secondly, it also elucidates related legislation through analysis of particular items in financial statements - the balance sheet and the profit and loss statement - to determine the problematic indicators within these statements that can aversely influence the ability of financial analysis to provide accurate and reliable information regarding the financial health of the entity. Finally, the last theoretical chapter addresses the advantages and limitations of the particular financial ratios and analysis that is used in the subsequent practical part of the thesis. The goal of the practical part of the thesis was to determine the ability of the analysed financial ratios to provide reliable information to shareholders and third parties to assess company health, and also scrutinise potential limitations. Since the thesis focuses on bankruptcy, the researcher analysed financial statements from three years prior to their bankruptcy. The aim was to determine whether the analysis, and in particular, which financial ratios could raise red flags and predict the nearing financial difficulties these entities were about to endure.

Gas Microsensors Based on Self-Organized 3D Metal-Oxide Nanofilms
Pytlíček, Zdeněk ; Husák, Miroslav (referee) ; Kolařík, Vladimír (referee) ; Prášek, Jan (advisor)
This dissertation concerns the development, fabrication and integration in a gas sensing microdevice of a novel 3-dimensional (3D) nanostructured metal-oxide semiconducting film that effectively merges the benefits of inorganic nanomaterials with the simplicity offered by non-lithographic electrochemistry-based preparation techniques. The film is synthesized via the porous-anodic-alumina-assisted anodizing of an Al/Nb metal bilayer sputter-deposited on a SiO2/Si substrate and is basically composed of a 200 nm thick NbO2 layer holding an array of upright-standing spatially separated Nb2O5 nanocolumns, being 50 nm wide, up to 900 nm long and of 8109 cm2 population density. The nanocolumns work as semiconducting nano-channels, whose resistivity is greatly impacted by the surface and interface reactions. Either Pt or Au patterned electrodes are prepared on the top of the nanocolumn array using an innovative sensor design realized by means of microfabrication technology or via a direct original point electrodeposition technique, followed by selective dissolution of the alumina overlayer. For gas-sensing tests the film is mounted on a standard TO-8 package using the wire-bonding technique. Electrical characterization of the 3D niobium-oxide nanofilm reveals asymmetric electron transport properties due to a Schottky barrier that forms at the Au/Nb2O5 or Pt/Nb2O5 interface. Effects of the active film morphology, structure and composition on the electrical and gas-sensing performance focusing on sensitivity, selectivity, detection limits and response/recovery rates are explored in experimental detection of hydrogen gas and ammonia. The fast and intensive response to H2 confirms the potential of the 3D niobium-oxide nanofilm as highly appropriate active layer for sensing application. A computer-aided microfluidics simulation of gas diffusion in the 3D nanofilm predicts a possibility to substantially improve the gas-sensing performance through the formation of a perforated top electrode, optimizing the film morphology, altering the crystal structure and by introducing certain innovations in the electrode design. Preliminary experiments show that a 3D nanofilm synthesized from an alternative Al/W metal bilayer is another promising candidate for advanced sensor applications. The techniques and materials employed in this work are advantageous for developing technically simple, cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions for practical micro- and nanodevices, where the well-defined nano-channels for charge carriers and surface reactions may bring unprecedented benefits.
