Catholic Church and Extremism in the Czech Republic
Racková, Dana ; Petráček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Štica, Petr (referee)
In the following work I will try to describe, as a title prompts, the relation between extremism and Catholicism, including ways of Christian rhetoric which are used by some extremist organizations. I am mainly focusing on a grouping with a function in Czech republic after 1989, although I am trying to see this topic in the most possible spread point of view. It means my effort in surveying this part of extremism partly according to its development. I have tried to analyze an opinions of groups individually and creating more general view for the structure of extremist and radical organizations, as well, using some elements of catholic faith during their lectures. Next to this view I am trying to distinguish two main styles in Christianity and extremism - political (those groups has especially political ambitions) and radical-catholic (organizations aiming for "purity" of a society in a way of traditional church values, but using elements of anti-system during their work). Further research, based on this background, about ways of using a Christianity in these organizations leading to destroy their own interests. My attention is also dedicated not only to my understanding of this faith, in a view of these groups, but I am trying to imagine their conceptual values, to demonstrate reasons of targeting...

Evaluation of wheelchair adjustments and their impact on proper propulsion pattern upper extremities and sitting posture in patients with spinal cord lesions
Dáňová, Petra ; Pfeiffer, Jan (advisor) ; Neuwirthová, Svatava (referee)
Title: Evaluation of wheelchair adjustments and their impact on proper propulsion pattern upper extremities and sitting posture in patients with spinal cord lesions. Objectives: The objective of this work was to evaluate the adjustments of wheelchair and to determine their impact on the work of the upper limbs and posture while sitting. This work was done on a group of patients with spinal lesions with their own wheelchairs. Another objective was to assess how education of proper propulsion pattern and form and type of a grip of handrim affects the correct propulsion pattern. Methods: In the group of 26 patients with spinal cord injuries in different levels of the spinal cord, I tested the adjusments of wheelchair, in particular the centre of gravity and maximum seat height from the ground. I also investigated what education on correct propulsion pattern the patients received, and observed any home-made adjustments to handrim, as well as patients' techniques of handrim grip. Finally, I examined how the subjects drove his/her wheelchair. During all the tests, I recorded video and photo documentation. The results were statistically evaluated using the Fisher test. Results: Despite the fact that only a small group was investigated, I showed the effect of wheelchair seatings on the correct posture. I...

Ion Iliescu and his role in the forming of the modern romanian democracy
Kocian, Jiří ; Tejchman, Miroslav (advisor) ; Šístek, František (referee)
The problematic of Romanian transition to democracy after the year 1989 was by its major part determined by the form of previous regime. Because of the extreme pressure and control exercised on the opposition and personal dictatorship of the regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu, no major dissent groups or centers existed, bearing the potential to take part in the overthrow of the regime. In the swift and still unclear events of December 1989, National Salvation Front rose to hold the power, being directed by Ion Iliescu. As a formerly top positioned communist apparatchik, who had been swept out from status and power after several conflicts with Ceausescu, he transferred almost complete communist structure to the newly formed regime, including Securitate, the secret service. Deconstruction of the former regime was actually performed by the execution of the former president and his wife and by trials of several Securitate generals. Iliescu concentrated most of the power around NSF and in contradiction with the original proclamation postponed transition to democracy. The new regime, which was led by Ion Iliescu demonstrated in its ideological presentation and exercise of power apparent similarities with the era of communist rule, nevertheless, it worked under formal democratic framework. Because of this fact,...

Řešení 3D elektrostatických problémů se singulaturou s použitím adaptivní hp-FEM
Kůs, Pavel ; Šolín, Pavel ; Doležel, Ivo
For most numerical methods, accurate resolution of singularities occurring at sharp re-entrant corners or edges of electrically conductive objects is highly problematic. Finite differences are known for their inability to treat complex geometries, and traditional low-order (piecewise-linear or quadratic) finite element methods (FEM) exhibit extremely poor convergence. Nowadays, the best numerical method for the solution of most singular problems is the adaptive hp-version of the FEM (hp-FEM). This method is based on spatial refinements toward the singularities combined with optimal variation of polynomial degrees on the elements. The hp-FEM has mathematically proven exponential convergence, and also in practical computations typically it is by several orders of magnitudes faster than standard FEM.

Evolution of anaerobic Heterolobosea
Pánek, Tomáš ; Čepička, Ivan (advisor) ; Oborník, Miroslav (referee)
Heterolobosea is a group of mainly free-living amoebae, flagellates and amoeboflagellates closely related to Euglenozoa and Jakobida (supergroup Excavata). At least two heterolobosean lineages have reduced their mitochondria and live in low concentrations of oxygen (Psalteriomonadidae and extremely halophilic Pleurostomum). Moreover, some other presumably anaerobic species have been described in aerobic heteroloboseid genera, but their sequence data are still missing. The aim of this study is to recognize the diversity and phylogenetic position of both already described and novel non-hypersaline anaerobic heteroloboseans. We have isolated and cultivated 34 strains of free-living heterolobosean flagellates, amoebae and amoeboflagellates from freshwater, brackish and marine microoxic/anoxic habitats. 33 of these strains constitute a single clade (Psalteriomonadidae). We recognize 2 new genera and 3 new species. Phylogenetic analysis of SSU rDNA showed the genus Percolomonas is polyphyletic. The similar morphology of species formally placed within the genus Percolomonas is probably plesiomorphic. Finally, the marine strain PC4AM is morphologically unique and its morphology can not be compared with other heteroloboseans and eukaryotes. It is probably the most derived heterolobosean. Its cell structure...

Stereotypes in perception towards women on the basis of their body size
Matějková, Erika ; Fraňková, Slávka (advisor) ; Kebza, Vladimír (referee) ; Pařízková, Jana (referee)
This work is directed at determining the stereotypes with which men, women of normal weight and obese women perceive other women on the basis of their figure. Specifically we looked at first impressions. Materials and Methods We surveyed 166 respondents from the Czech Republic. The first part of the survey included 10 questions about how men and women judge other women based on their body size and what attributes they give them. This was followed by 21 statements (descriptors) to be matched with photos of women of different body size who were felt to possess that characteristic. The last part of the survey contained projective questions about perceived and ideal figure. In addition there were enclosed photographs of five women of different body sizes. The women had their faces blurred to obtain a true projective testimony. Results Attributes ascribed to women Statistically significant differences in how women are perceived by men, women of normal weight and obese women include the following. Men assume that when a woman lets her body weight go to either extreme, she is the least intelligent. Men perceive thin women as being pliable while fuller figured women are viewed as being more self-confident and assertive. In contrast women of normal body weight perceive thinner women as cold. Obese women view thin...

Providing emergency supply of nuclear power plants
ROZMILER, Jiří
Work "Providing emergency power nuclear power plant" describes how solving their own consumption nuclear power plant, as emergency power supply is designed and how it should be a solution of known states of emergency, having an immediate impact on the power consumption of their own nuclear power plants. The aim of this thesis is to propose options to strengthen its own emergency power consumption of nuclear power plants, one might say-more resistant to harsh extremes, which could lead to loss of employment, reserve and emergency power, that is the condition called Station Black Out (SBO) - total loss of power. The work also includes calculations of short-circuit ratios emergency resources considered as strengthening, as well as the calculation of acceleration heaviest drive and a summary of the overall impacts of the proposed hardening.

Genetic alterations of the skin adnexal tumours
Grossmann, Petr ; Kazakov, Dmitry (advisor) ; Daniš, Dušan (referee) ; Halbhuber, Zbyněk (referee) ; Feit, Josef (referee)
1. CYLD gene 1.7 Summary Our team discovered 19 new germinal mutations (22% of all known), with author participating on finding of seven of them. Particularly interesting is the discovery of new intronic mutation of CYLD gene and characterization of molecular biologic processes causing inactivation of the gene. Author also confirmed presence of LOH being the most frequent second inactivating hit. At the same time author found a group of patients with BSS/MFT phenotype carrying no mutation of CYLD gene suggesting that there might exist another gene participating in BSS/MFT pathogenesis. Furthermore genotype-phenotype analysis was performed resulting in no significant correlation. 2. Mismatch repair genes hMLH1, hMSH2, hMSH6 2.9 Summary In this study we have analyzed one patient with Muir-Torre syndrome (MTS) phenotype for causal mutation in mismatch repair (MMR) genes. Most patients with MTS carry mutations in MSH2 and MLH1 gene. Germline mutations in MSH6 are extremely rare, with only 3 cases reported thus far. Here we have described a germline mutation in MSH6 gene in three members of one family. This greatly extends previously published group of patients with MTS syndrome carrying mutation in MSH6 gene. 3. PRKAR1A gene 3.7 Summary In this study we have investigated patient with Carney complex for a...

The heat-stress-related mortality in the Czech Republic: first results
Kyselý, Jan ; Huth, Radan ; Kříž, B.
The analysis of the HSR mortality in the Czech Republic tries to find answers to the following questions: (i) which treshold value of tempereture (or of another temperature- and humidity- related variable)must be exceeded to observe the HSR mortality, in dependence on time of the year; (ii) which meteorological variable (or an index) accounts for the largest portion of the mortality increase, and what is the best model between meteorological variables and mortality; (iii) what is the dependence of the HSR mortality on the age group and sex; and (iv) whether a synoptic approach based on an objective classification of air masses leads to better results compared to the more traditional methods. The analysis covers the 1990s when some extremely hot summers appeared in the Czech Republic.

Flooding Risk and Ways to Eliminate Its Consequences
Kučera, Michal ; Ducháčková, Eva (advisor)
The first part of the paper focuses on the global warming effects on the extreme weather events frequency. The second part tries to specify the role of the critical institutions managing the flooding risk in the Czech Republic. The following chapters are all aimed at the fundamental questions of the paper: Insurability conditions, position of the individual insurance companies, necessity of the insurers - reinsurers cooperation and alternative risk transfer (ART) methods endeavouring to deepen the capacity of the traditional reinsurance markets.
