The role of pediatric nurse and midwife in the laboratory screening of newborns
CHVÁTALOVÁ, Lenka
Newborn laboratory screening represents a pro-active blanket search for diseases in their early, pre-clinical stages. It uses an analysis of a dried blood drop on filtration paper. The blood is taken under specific conditions from all newborns born on the territory of the Czech Republic. The blood samples are collected by midwives and pediatric nurses, who are responsible for correct execution of the test. In 2009 the number of screened diseases increased from nine to thirteen. The samples are accompanied with double NCR cards to record all data about the newborn and the conditions of blood collection, including an NCR copy of demographical data. The midwife or pediatric nurse shall instruct the mother who should be present during the blood collection. In the theoretical part the author deals with the history of newborn screening, characteristics of the newborn screening and its principles, tested diseases, preparation, procedure and care after the test. The practical part used a combination of quantitative and qualitative research survey. The quantitative survey used inquiring with a questionnaire technique. The objective number 1 of the survey was to map the knowledge of pediatric nurses/midwifes about laboratory screening of newborns. The objective 1 was fulfilled. The hypothesis formulated in connection with the objective was: Pediatric nurses and midwives are familiar with the principles of laboratory screening. The hypothesis was confirmed. The research technique used for the qualitative survey was an in-depth interview. The objective number 2 was to map obstacles to the laboratory screening of newborns from the viewpoint of pediatric nurses and midwives. The objective 2 was fulfilled. The research question formulated in connection with the objective was: What are the obstacles to the collection of samples for laboratory screening of newborns? The research question was answered. The most frequent obstacles are poor blood flow, necessity to make more than one puncture and the fact that one prescribed drop of blood may not be sufficient for the testing. This bachelor degree thesis may serve as a source of information and study material for students of midwifery. The results of the research may be used as a teaching material at the University of South Bohemia.

Linear landscape elements and biodiversity of small terrestrial mammals in agriculture landscape
MARŠÁLEK, Martin
Annotation The thesis deals with an influence of linear landscape elements and landscape heterogeneity on a biodiversity and population dynamics of small terrestrial mammals (STM) in an agricultural landscape of South Bohemia. The theoretical part consists of literally review about landscape, historical analysis of landscape structures development in the area of interest and summarizes existing knowledge about the ecology of present STM species. The aim of the practical part is to compare small mammals' biodiversity in three biotopes using capture-release-recapture method. The thesis follows my bachelor thesis and uses the same methods as in 2013. Data obtained in 2013 and 2015 were evaluated and the results were compared. In both years three three-days long captures were performed, always with 30 traps in 5 meters distance in every biotope. The species, sex, weight, foot length and age of captured animals were determined. In 2013, 60 individuals of three species of small terrestrial mammals were captured (Apodemus sylvaticus, Myodes glareolus and Microtus arvalis). In 2015, 444 individuals of four species were captured (Apodemus sylvaticus, Myodes glareolus, Microtus arvalis and Apodemus flavicollis). The total numbers of STM significantly differ between 2013 and 2015 (Wilcoxon's pair test, Z = 2,66; p = 0,008). The biotopes differ significantly in animal abundance in both 2013 (Chi-Square 114,1; d. f. = 2; p < 0, 0001) and 2015 (Chi-Square 346,96; d. f. = 2; p < 0, 0001). The highest species diversity and abundance were always found in linear landscape element (alley).

The Synods in Bohemia from 1440 to 1540. Transformations of synodal praxis in Bohemia in the context of developement of synodality in the Late-medieval Europe
Zilynská, Blanka ; Šmahel, František (advisor) ; Hledíková, Zdenka (referee) ; Čornej, Petr (referee)
The dissertation thesis takes up the paper dealing with the synods of Hussite clergy in Bohemia from 1418 to 1440. This book consisted of list of sources and literature about synods held in that period, analysis of some texts and appreciation of the role of synods in the Hussite Church administration including their ideological acting. Starting from the final turning point of that paper (1440), I followed up with the research and interpretation of the topic. The Hussite synods before 1440 were divided according to the region into Prague, Tábor and common disputations (hádání), the Catholic synods are not documented. It was necessary to keep track of the activities of both official confession groups in the country in the following period. The Tábor centre could be observed only till 1444, when its activities came to an end. Nevertheless, a new independent radical group Unitas Fratrum (Unity of Brethern, Jednota bratrská) appeared during the examined period. The phenomenon of their synods is so specific, that it could be only mentioned in this paper. The paper is limited within the Prague diocese. The development in Moravia was completely different, that is why it was not implicated in the research. Despite I continue the research of a phenomenon named with the same term, the scene as well as the...

Development of Handmade Glass in Novy Bor Region from 1918 to the Present
Šavelková, Šárka ; Kopačka, Ludvík (advisor) ; Heřmanová, Eva (referee)
Handmade glass is one of the most typical Czech items that has made our country famous throughout the world for several centuries. Although it is a very small sector of our economy, which by money value contributes only 0.1% to the overall manufacturing sector and 1.2% to the group of glass products, it represents a significant impact on employment in the Liberecký region (10%). The importance of this sector, however, lies in not the quantity and unit value of production, but in the profound importance its producers place on quality. The quality of our handmade glass is still vastly superior to the manual mass production of any of the Eastern countries. For a region such as Novy Bor in North Bohemia which has traditionally been synonymous with glass making, great handmade glass has a significance which transcends economics. It is also what integrates and binds the social fabric, and gives the community its identity. The crisis that hit the industry in 2008 was primarily due to the developments of previous years. It showed us that the world stature of Bohemian crystal, its traditions, brands and trade marks cannot be sustained without investment. Without continuing investment, the beautiful craftsmanship of glass making cannot be developed, nor preserved. Glass blowing, and glass making craftsmanship - like...

Kaliningrad oblast as a "pilot region" in European Union-Russia relations
Pirunčík, Petr ; Voráček, Emil (advisor) ; Jireš, Jan (referee)
The master thesis deals with the Kaliningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation. The region is a Russian exclave completely surrounded with the European Union. It is linked with Czech history through King Ottokar II of Bohemia who founded the city of Kaliningrad. The unique character of the Kaliningrad Oblast has been changing during the few last years in context of new geopolitical and economical conditions in the broader region. Russia and the European Union as the main political actors must seek a new approach to the Kaliningrad Oblast to which is referred as "pilot region". The aim of the thesis is to describe the actual situation of this dynamically growing region. The text is divided into three sections with different focuses concerning the perspectives of social policy and demography, of economy and of foreign policy. Possible scenarios of future development are presented at the end of the work. Special emphasis is put on actual scientific reflections of the unique political character of the region.
