Clinical evaluation of postural balance functions in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Hrdý, Tomáš ; Smolíková, Libuše (advisor) ; Špaňhelová, Šárka (referee)
Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the most common chronic respiratory diseases. Impairments in exercise capacity, kinesiology and skeletal muscle function are well established in these patients. Recently presented data also suggests impairments in postural balance and increased risk of falls in patients with COPD. The aim of this study is to examine postural balance functions in a group of patients and compare the results with a control group. Methods: Twelve patients (the average age 65,6 ± 7,1, 5 women, 7 men) with COPD hospitalized at the Pulmonary Clinic at the Faculty Hospital, Prague Motol and 10 healthy control subjects (the average age 58,6 ± 5,2, 7 women, 3 men) participated in this study. Participants were measured by The Activities-specific Balance Confidence Scale (ABC) and The Balance Evaluation Systems Test (BESTest). Results: COPD patients scored significantly worse (0,0099, p < 0,05) on the ABC scale total score compared to healthy controls, 78,38 ± 21,14 for COPD versus 97,78 ± 3,88 for controls. The total score and the six subsystem categories score of the BESTest were lower in COPD patients, but not significantly, compared to controls. Conclusion: Patients with COPD showed a lower degree of balance confidence and postural balance functions....

Determination of content substances for selected species and varieties of roses.
Slavíková, Eva ; Sus, Josef (advisor) ; Súkeníková, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor's work is focused on comparing the most significant content substance, vitamin C, in fruits of chosen rose kinds species and varieties. Herbal products are often seen by people as products of "second choice", when failure of allopathic treatment occurs, which is focused especially on suppressing symptoms of illness, but it ignores health of the human body as whole. That's why are herbal products often alternative for therapy of chronic diseases. The base of this work is extensive literary research and results of laboratory measurings. Literary part of this work includes description of botanical classification of rose plants. There is stated basic characteristic of individual rose species and their morphological features. In following chapters is composed overview of effective substances in rose fruits and their effect on human health. In practical part of this work are included results of laboratory tests for determining ascorbic acid content for chosen samples of rose species and it also includes results of weighing and measuring of fruit samples of chosen rose species. There are also stated chosen rose species and shortly their origin and description, in the beginning of practical part. For practical part were chosen samples of species. Results of practical part are compiled into statistic tables and graphs and it confirms high content of ascorbic acid in rose fruits. This content is in range of cca 300 - 900 mg.100 g-1. Due to growing interest in alternative treatment options and "clean" natural product, it can be assumed, that many plants of Rosaceae family will keep its place in treatment practice. Those plants will be used not only for treatment of acute and chronic diseases, but also for cosmetic products production, thanks to its large effects and process options.

Assessing the influence of constitutional hypermobility on postural stability
Zadražilová, Tereza ; Smékal, David (advisor) ; Čakrt, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis "Judging the influence of constitutional hypermobility on postural stability" focuses on the problem of constitutional hypermobility (CH) and the influence of joint instability on stability mechanisms. The aim of the research was to find out whether there is a difference in stability mechanisms with tested subjects with CH and without it. Furthermore, the research focuses on the influence of mobility techniques on postural stability by the means of chosen tests carried out on Balance Master® System platform. The tested sample includes 14 women aged from 20 to 28, 7 women with constitutional hypermobility and 7 women as a control group. 6 tests were chosen for the measurement on Balance Master® platform. 2 static tests: modified Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction on Balance (mCTSIB), Unilateral Stance (US), and 4 dynamic tests: Limits of Stability (LOS), Rhytmic weight shift (RWS), Step Up Over (SUO) a Forward Lunge (FL). We compared the medians of output values of individual tests. It was assumed that subjects with KH would have significantly worse test results than the control group. Furthermore, it was supposed that the mobilization processes cause stability disturbance on the basis of cancellation of compensational , thus protective block in comparison with KS. The influence of targeted treatment on stereognosis and somatognosis in patients with chronic vertebrogenic algic syndrome
Svobodová, Alena ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Čech, Zdeněk (referee)
This diploma thesis called "The impact of individual physiotherapy on stereognosis and somatognosis in patients with chronic back pain" contains basic knowledge about stereognostic and somatognostic function, it summarizes significant information about pain and the development of its chronic form, and last but not least it states possible causes of back pain disorders and its functional factors. One special part of the thesis describes non-standardized tests used to examine 21 probands who had been diagnosed chronic back pain and particularly it compares the results of these two examinations, the first of which was carried out before the beginning of physiotherapy and the second one carried out after 14 days of physiotherapeutic treatment. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the impact of physiotherapy on stereognosis and somatognosis of patients with chronic back pain. All types of medical examination were tested without visual check. As a part of the medical examination a short form of McGill ́s questionnaire and a visual analogue scale indicating the intensity of pain were to be filled in by the probands to explicate their subjective feelings. The results of all but two tests improved after 14 days of physiotherapy, the therapy impact on function of stereognosis and somatognosis of patients with...

The role of radiology assistant during the examination of kidneys by methods of nuclear medicine
Urbánková, Petra ; Špalková, Ingrid (advisor) ; Vlček, Petr (referee)
This semestral work deals with the Nuclear Medicine Methods used in Neufrourology. Methods of Nuclear Neufrourology unable to get kidney and urinary tact function information and therefore they are very often used in disease diagnosis of listed organs for both adults and children. Singular methods are complementary to Morphology Monitor Methods. Each of them has its specific asset in particular diagnosis area and that's why it is very important to judge the results of these methods always in the complex overview. The most frequently used methods at Nuclear Medicine departments are Dynamic and Static Scintigraphical Kidney and urinary tract Examination. Dynamic Scintigraphy gives information about function and drain parameter of the kidney. It is possible to judge shape, size and position of the kidney. Sometimes the method includes the Furosemid Test, Renovascular Hyperthensis Diagnosis and examination of transplanted kidney. The responsibility of radiologic attendant during the execution of these diagnostic methods consists in right, accurate and understandable instructing the person under examination, imposition of the person, setting the detector and the execution of the study right after the RF application, which is executed by a pediatrist (for children under 3 years of age) or a nurse. The radiologic...

Induction of the immune response against HPV16-associated tumours with experimental vaccines
Kalenská, Romana ; Krulová, Magdaléna (referee) ; Reiniš, Milan (advisor)
5 Induction of the immune response against HPV16-associated tumours with experimental vaccines The E6/E7 oncoproteins of human papillomaviruses are expressed in most trans- formed cells of cervical carcinoma and, therefore, are attractive targets for T cell-mediated immunotherapy. We have investigated the capacity of vaccines based on E7 oncoprotein- derived peptides to induce cellular immune responses and their therapeutic potential for treatment of minimal residual disease after surgery in a murine experimental model mi- micking human HPV16-associated carcinomas. We compared the effect of E749-57 peptide (RAHYNIVTF) exhibiting immunodominant epitope recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocy- tes with E744-62 peptide (QAEPDRAHYNIVTFCCKCD = 8Q) exhibiting CTL, TH and B- cell epitopes. Immune responses were compared in healthy mice and in mice after surgery or chemotherapy of tumours with ifosfamide derivative CBM-4A. Cellular immune re- sponses were monitored in spleen cells of C57BL/6 mice using ELISPOT-IFN-γ and 51 Cr- release assay. Flow cytometry was used for the detection of CD4+ , CD8+ , CD4+ CD25+ , Gr-1+ CD11b+ and CD3+ NK1.1+ populations. Vaccination with 8Q peptide and synthetic CpG oligodeoxynucleotide as adjuvant induced stronger antitumour immune responses than immunodominant CTL epitope alone in both...

Somatestezie variability in a group of physiotherapy students
Koudelková, Alena ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Čech, Zdeněk (referee)
Dissertation "Variability of Somatesthesis in Students of Physiotherapy " deals with somatosensorical system in its theoretical part. In the practical part, sets of tests - aimed at somatesthesis function testing - are described. These tests are easy to implement and could be objectified. This pilot study was performed on a set of 29 Subjects aged 24 - 30. Selection criteria were set to physiotherapy studies and good health condition. The research ran on FN Motol physiotherapy clinics and lasted from October 2007 until January 2008. Measurements were repeated four times (in random day time), while the interval between examinations were randomly selected 1-12 days. The methodical part closely desribes measurement procedures and performance of each test. The first aim of this dissertation was to create a set of examination tests, concentrated on somatesthesis functions, which could be objectively measured. Further we set a target to find out, if sensomotorical learning effect appears by repeated measurement of same Subject and if quality of somatesthesis functions anyhow changes depending on internal environment status. Comparison of Motor Coordination Tests for Pre-school Children
Nosková, Veronika ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Hojková, Klára (referee)
COMPARISON OF MOTOR d{OORDINATION TESTS FOR PRE- SCHOOL CHILDREN The pre-school child is in physiotherapy regarded as a unique, individua! being, with a completed postural development. With the help of play and individua! stimulation aids, the child is supposed to further elaborate on other skills dependent on gradual maturation of cerebellum and the overall development of his/her character. Majority of Czech physiotherapists do not employ the terminology defined by the concept of coordination abilities. The concept of motor abilities is currently not used either among Czech anthropomotorists. Particularly the coordination abilities as described by Hirtz in 1985 (and updated in 2002) are considered to be rather informative - non- metric. The tests applied in German research projects whose objective is to estimate the coordination quality in pre-school children do not include some important aspects that are crucial for coordinated locomotive activities, and thus also indispensable to diagnostics. Motoric testing, as conceived within the methods of the motodiagnostics approach, does not respect the chilďs individuality, and does not take into accoun the neurophysiologic principles of the central nervous system maturation. The coordination tests manuals are standardized on the basis of numerous...

Title: Exercise activity for dialysis patients The thesis characterizes and summarizes chronic kidney failure and the complications resulting :from this disease. It deals with dialysis patients and their lowered ability to exercise. Aim: The thesis aims to explore the suitability ofvarious forms of exercise for dialysis patients, especially from the point of view and for the purpose of finding the maximum improvement in the functional state, condition and exercise ability as well as the life quality of these patients. A test group was created and has been monitored long-term while undergoing a complex and suitable exercise program created specifically for the individuals ofthis group. The exercise program created should lead to an improvement in their exercise ability, the development oftheir condition and the subjective evaluation ofthe improvement oflife quality. Methodology: The group monitored was observed long-term and repeatedly tested using 3 of the Unifittest battery of tests (6-60). The test was supplemented with anthropometric and motor skill measurements and a survey on life quality. Results: The group was monitored long-term thus the results are informative and predicative of the practical uses of exercise activities in certain time periods. The results assess the effect of long-term...
