The effect of the dog-asissted activity in children disorders of psychological development during education
Schwarzová, Kristýna ; Chaloupková, Helena (advisor) ; Katerina, Katerina (referee)
The goal of the thesis was to find out if dog´s presence and the targeted work of a child with a dog helps improve children´s attention to teaching and their results. The majority of academic literature shows that dog assisted therapy constitutes a clear benefit for children. However, the research on this topic is still in its infancy and the literature is still relatively limited. The thesis deals with the interactions of a child and a dog, especially in the case of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), specific learning disorders (SPU), and autistic spectrum disorders (PAS). The general conclusion of the existing literature is that animal assisted therapy with the dog helps children with ADHD improve their fine motor skills, increases their attention, decreases aggressiveness, and helps to improve speech disorders. But it is not clear what the impact on other types of disorders is. This thesis first focuses on reviewing the existing literature and its main results that mostly confirm the positive influence of involving the dog in therapy by all observed disorders. The second part of the thesis deals with experimental verification of the hypothesis of a positive influence the dog´s presence and the targeted work of 8 children in the age of 7-9 years from a special school has on attention and behavior in the classroom. Four of the children were diagnosed with ADHD, two with SPU, and two with an autistic spectrum disorder. The experiment was carried out two times a week, and focused on observing the extent of children´s concentration on the given task, calming down, attention while solving the assignments, and reduction of negative physical contacts among observed subjects. The data collection took place during regular classes. Once in a week, the class was preceded by the animal assisted therapy with the dog, which formed the treatment group. The second session in the week was not preceded by any therapy to establish the control group for the experiment. The results verify our hypothesis by revealing the strengthening of the positive influence of teaching on the observed skills of the children. The positive influence of the dog is supported by the fact that the children achieved more success in its presence. However, further research on larger samples and children from other age categories is needed.

Welfare of cattle
Tajzichová, Nikola ; Chaloupková, Helena (advisor) ; Ilona, Ilona (referee)
The thesis Welfare of cattle is focused on well-being of the dairy cattle, specifically from the professional expert perspective, representing these days one of the very actual quality of cattle breeding factor. The objective of the thesis was to summarise the newest expert findings in the area of dairy cattle welfare and to find out Czech Republic breeders opinion on the dairy cattle welfare assessment and on the suitability of criteria for such assessment. Cattle breeding represents one of the main sectors of the animal production, which serves as the primary source of milk, cheese and meat products. The quality of these products is directly dependant on the well-being of the cattle, which is at the same time essentially important for its complex good health condition, both physical and mental. In my thesis, I have focused on the animal welfare as such, and I analyse it in detail from different perspectives. The thesis also addresses the important evaluation project Welfare Quality, whose methodology could become a foundation for standardization of cattle well-being assessment and its certification by means of passporting products quality and origin. Further, the thesis elaborates on the alternatives of such products welfare passportisation, which could also provide for authentication of products quality and welfare of animals in the studs. I have used questionnaires for the empirical research, by means of which the dairy cattle breeders were interviewed. The questionnaires were composed of questions pertaining to basic information on concrete breeder and the stud, health condition of the animals, opinion of the breeder on animal welfare and suitable criteria for dairy cattle welfare assessment, and also questions addressing management and production characteristics of the stud. The thesis confirms the necessity of improvement of the awareness and knowledgeability of the breeders about the animals welfare, but also the need of animals life conditions improvement, and consequently the benefits of the introduction of welfare standardization and evaluation by means of all interested parties participation, and possibly also introduction of some form of certification of the quality and origin of the product, with respect to welfare.

Physiotherapy use in dogs
Gollerová, Aneta ; Chmelíková, Eva (advisor) ; Fiala Šebková, Naděžda (referee)
Terms physiotherapy, rehabilitation and reconditioning mean generally a otal care of the musculoskeletal system, which should help with the restoration of the patient to its orig-inal health condition after suffering an injury or surgery. And if a full restoration condition is not achieved, it should minimize the negative impact of injuries at least as well as to shorten a recovery time and reduce a risk of irreversible changes in the joints, muscles, ligaments or nerves, and finally to return the patient to a full life even with a possible physical disability. Use of physiotherapy in dogs has been growing in recent years significantly and rapidly becoming a recognized discipline, that has been sought by veterinary experts and dog owners more and more. The medical physiotherapy, which has a proven positive effect on the human musculosceletal system has influenced an origin and development of the veterinary physiotherapy. Physiotherapy involves both methods - physical and manual. First of all, among the physical methods belong the hydrotherapy, magnet therapy, ultrasound and thermotherapy. Manual methods are for example the massages, Dorn massage method or Elastic therapeutic taping. Positive effect of rehabilitation is not only visible in the musculoskeletal system, but almost in the whole body, beginning from the central nervous system, through cardiovascular system to lymphatic system. Of all domestic animals the physiotherapy has been widely used just in dogs. The massages, hydrotherapy and various kinds of exercises are mostly used in a real life prac-tice. As it appears at the present, the physiotherapy in dogs has excellent results and is used as a part of treatment of orthopedic and neurological diseases mainly, however, it is also used in the treatment of diseases of internal organs and cancer patients. Moreover, it is also suitable for healthy dogs with high loads, for example for sporting or working dogs.

Using of environmental enrichment for cats bred like pets
Benešová, Lucie ; Gardiánová, Ivana (advisor) ; Jan, Jan (referee)
Environmental enrichment includes various forms of mental and physical stimulation. It is one of the ways how to improve the life of the animals in a breeding facility, a zoo or home. The appropriate form of enrichment can help reduce or even eliminate problem behavior, and in some cases even behavioral problems. Enrichment can be divided into 5 types - social, occupational, physical, sensory and nutritional enrichment. For cats and felids is suitable nutritional (feeding) enrichment and sensory enrichment. The nutritional (feeding) enrichment and sensory enrichment is the most suitable for cats and felids. The other three types of enrichment can also be enriching. The aim of the thesis was to describe the possibilities of environmental enrichment for cats bred in captivity, primarily focusing on domestic cats. The thesis also includes a chapter about enrichment for zoo animals (both large and small felids) and for domestic cats which live in shelters. In addition to the theoretical part, questionnaire for interviewees (cat breeders) which contained several questions concerning breeding cats, knowledge of the term enrichment and the use of environmental enrichment by cat breeders was also prepared. During which some interesting results were found. Most interviewees keep cats in the household as a companion (85 %), only 15 % of respondents leads kennel. Most respondents keep cats without certificate of origin (pedigree) and only less than 30 % have a registered cat with the certificate. Most of the breeders keep the cats at least 3 years (75 %) and only 25 % keep the cats less than three years. Over 66 % of the breeders own more than one cat. More than 58% of cats are kept indoors only and a additional 10% of cats are kept indoors with access to enclosed outdoor aviary, only less than 19% of cats have unlimited access outside. More 66% of responders have another pet (e.g. dog, rodents, reptiles, fish, parrot). Regarding the knowledge of the term enrichment as such most of the interviewees did not know the meaning of the term enrichment (only 29 % knew the meaning). However, it was found based on answers of additional questions that a significant number of interviewees use the enrichment (over 43%). Over 21% of breeders are using social enrichment, 21% physical enrichment, almost 6% nutritional enrichment, more than 1% of breeders use occupational enrichment and only 0.8% use sensory enrichment.

Mass Accomodation Coefficient for Nanoscale Aerosol Particles
Levdansky, Valerij Vladimirovič ; Smolík, Jiří ; Ždímal, Vladimír ; Moravec, Pavel
The influence of size effects on physicochemical transformations and transfer processes in the heterogeneous systems with nanoobjects attracts increasing attention of researchers. These problems are of interest for nanotechnology and atmospheric physics. Size effects can influence the cohesive energy as well as the activation energies of vacancy formation and diffusion of atoms in the nanoscale particles (Vanithakumari and Nanda, 2008). Phase transitions (including nucleation) in aerosol systems with nanoscale particles (clusters) also depend on the nanoparticle size (Levdansky et al., 2010). Hear we discuss the size dependence of the mass accommodation coefficient gama in the gas–nanoparticle system.

Studium produkce jetů v experimentu ALICE na urychlovači LHC
Kučera, Vít ; Bielčíková, Jana (advisor) ; Dolejší, Jiří (referee)
Title: Study of jet production with the ALICE experiment at the LHC Author: Vít Kučera Department: Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics Supervisor: RNDr. Jana Bielčíková, Ph.D., Nuclear Physics Institute of the ASCR, v.v.i. Abstract: The theory of strong interaction, quantum chromodynamics, predicts a phase transition between hadronic matter and the quark-gluon plasma where quarks and gluons are deconfined. This state of matter is expected to be created in ultra-relativistic collisions of heavy ions. Jets from partons which interact with the strongly interacting matter created in heavy-ion collisions can be used as probes to study this medium. The ALICE experiment installed at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN enables using jets to study medium in heavy-ion collisions. An analysis of data measured with the ALICE experiment in 2010 in the lead nuclei collisions at energy √ sNN = 2.76 TeV is presented in the thesis. The results of this analysis are presented in a study of jets reconstructed with the kt and anti-kt algorithms. The study includes an analysis of tracks, an analysis of background and focuses on an analysis of inclusive jet spectra. Various aspects of jet spectra are studied including modification of jets in the central collisions expressed by the ratio RCP. Also a summary of author's...

Childhood overweight and obesity at primary school age
Houserová, Johana ; Hučko, Boris (advisor) ; Adéla, Adéla (referee)
Childhood overweight and obesity is a present issue not only in the Czech Republic, but worldwide. The main objective of this thesis was to assess overweight and obesity in children of primary school age in towns and in villages in the Central Bohemian Region and to focus on their alimentation habits and physical activity. The thesis consists of two parts. The first theoretical part describes the characteristics of primary school age, introduction to the topic, epidemiology, causes of the origin, types of obesity, diagnostics, problems of obese children, nutrition of children and adolescents and their alimentation habits, prevention, medical treatment, specific programs for the prevention and treatment of childhood overweight and obesity and an overview of the myths about childhood obesity. The second practical part of the thesis includes questionnaire study implemented within the 4th grade of chosen urban and non-urban schools in the Central Bohemian Region and semi-structured interview with mother of a child suffering from overweight since early age. The survey included 155 pupils of the 4th grade from two urban and five non-urban schools of the Central Bohemian Region. The results of the questionnaire study proved that 23 % of urban and 20 % of non-urban pupils suffer from overweight and obesity. An important factor is their different lifestyle. Non-urban children spend their leisure time in a passive way, they prefer playing PC games to physical activities, attend less extra sport classes and consume more sweets than urban children. More urban pupils consume three to four meals on a daily basis in contrast with non-urban pupils who tend to consume five to six portions. Most prefer healthy food to unhealthy food and tend to eat mainly czech dishes at home. 90% of the questioned children expressed positive attitude to sport. More than half of the children suffering from overweight and obesity do not practice any sport or physical activities sufficiently. Due to the importance of regular alimentation and consumption of breakfast and snacks, it is a positive finding that three quarters of the children have breakfast regularly and bring home-made snacks to school. The semi-structured interview with mother of an overweight child proved that overweight is not caused by overeating and by a passive lifestyle but also by genetic predisposition. In the conclusion, the author presents the outcome of the work and a general primary prevention at family level, school level and community level.

Nutrition of athletes with a focus on fitness
Hájková, Eva ; Hučko, Boris (advisor) ; Hroncová, Zuzana (referee)
Nutrition is an important part of everyone's life. The way we eat affects our health and overall physical and mental condition. If we take a balanced and varied diet is a proven link with disease prevention. My thesis deals with nutrition of athletes who are dedicated to fitness. In sports in general, there is a nutritionist great emphasis mainly in terms of the of sports performance. The fitness is no different. Consuming the right foods at the right time can increase our performance, adjust our weight and overall strengthen our health. It is logical that the body of an athlete sets a higher power demand, the amount of nutrients and fluids. It is therefore very important that every athlete had their diet that fits his physical activity. Fitness activities are divided into the power part and the endurance part too. Along with a special diet the athlete can adjust his body, lose the body fat and make better condition. Most fitness athletes wants to acquire and retain muscle mass even during strenuous exercise and reduce body fat to the minimum possible. Without a modified diet and training, they would never reached their dream goal. If the athlete is not able to supply the body with sufficient nutrients from food, it is recommended to enrich your diet with supplements. Before an athlete begins taking a dietary supplement, one should find out what is he really missing, then carefully choose one that will be most suitable for his body. Some supplements help athletes not to lose muscle mass by training, other cause faster regeneration after training.

Beekeping in Czech Republic
Kopecký, Jan ; Voříšek, Karel (advisor) ; Plachý, Vladimír (referee)
The purpose of my bachelor thesis is to compile the literature available to give an integrated summary of beekeeping in the Czech Republic and to describe the most serious illnesses of the bees. Such as bee the literature available American foulbrood end varroasis including brief processes how they can be healed or how to avoid them. The importance of honeybee and its irreplaceable role in the ecosystem of our planet is described in the introduction of this thesis. It is mentioned that honeybee is often perceived only like a food source. In the main part, the Czech beekeeping is divided according to the historical dating into a forest, collecting and rational beekeeping as well as into special type of beekeeping colled ,,brtnické''. Then there is a treatise on the formation and the importance of organizations associating Czech beekeepers through years. An additional part of the first half of the thesis is a summary of recently used hives, tools and also ways of unnatural bee´s feeding. The second half of the main part is pursued to serious illnesses in the Czech Republic. This chapter is divided according to originators of illnesses on illnesses made by physical influences or unsuitable food, bacterial illnesses, fungous, viral and invasive illnesses. American foulbrood and illnesses caused by the mite Varroa destructor has the biggest importance because these illnesses make the biggest losses in the Czech Republic. Every illness has own characteristics, originator, clinical diagnostics and therapeutic possibilities.
