STRAIN ENGINEERING OF THE ELECTRONIC STRUCTURE OF 2D MATERIALS

The research on graphene has attracted much attention since its first successful preparation in 2004. It possesses many unique properties, such as an extreme stiffness and strength, high electron mobility, ballistic transport even at room temperature, superior thermal conductivity and many others. The affection for graphene was followed swiftly by a keen interest in other two dimensional materials like transition metal dichalcogenides. As has been predicted and in part proven experimentally, the electronic properties of these materials can be modified by various means. The most common ones include covalent or non-covalent chemistry, electrochemical, gate or atomic doping, or quantum confinement. None of these methods has proven universal enough in terms of the devices' characteristics or scalability. However, another approach is known mechanical strain/stress, but experiments in that direction are scarce, in spite of their high promises.\nThe primary challenge consists in the understanding of the mechanical properties of 2D materials and in the ability to quantify the lattice deformation. Several techniques can be then used to apply strain to the specimens and thus to induce changes in their electronic structure. We will review their basic concepts and some of the examples so far documented experimentally and/or theoretically.

Diagnostics for Robust Regression: Linear Versus Nonlinear Model

Robust statistical methods represent important tools for estimating parameters in linear as well as nonlinear econometric models. In contrary to the least squares, they do not suffer from vulnerability to the presence of outlying measurements in the data. Nevertheless, they need to be accompanied by diagnostic tools for verifying their assumptions. In this paper, we propose the asymptotic Goldfeld-Quandt test for the regression median. It allows to formulate a natural procedure for models with heteroscedastic disturbances, which is again based on the regression median. Further, we pay attention to nonlinear regression model. We focus on the nonlinear least weighted squares estimator, which is one of recently proposed robust estimators of parameters in a nonlinear regression. We study residuals of the estimator and use a numerical simulation to reveal that they can be severely heteroscedastic also for data generated from a model with homoscedastic disturbances. Thus, we give a warning that standard residuals of the robust nonlinear estimator may produce misleading results if used for the standard diagnostic tools

ATI and The Promotion of Czech Theater Abroad

This bachelor thesis examines the presentation of Czech theatre abroad mediated
by the Arts and Theatre Institute (ATI), the state-funded organization of Ministry
of Culture. It aims to map the possibilities which are by the ATI. The first part of
the thesis contains the abstracts of the state strategic document which supports
the presentation of the Czech culture and theatre in the foreign land. The second
part the thesis summarizes the activity of the ATI and the International
Cooperation and PR Department whose aim is the presentation of the Czech
theatre outside the country. The third part of the thesis is the information based
on the practical experience of the ATI and Czech Centers employees as the
organizers of the presentation, and the Drak Theatre and the Naïve Theater
Liberec employees as the representatives of the puppet theatre regarded by the
ATI as the “export leaders”.

International trade in a Kraft paper intended for contact with food

The master´s thesis deals with international trade with packaging paper intended for contact with food.
The theoretical part concentrates on packaging types and functions, the history of the paper industry in the Czech Republic and the world market with packaging paper intended for contact with food. The legislation of each country is very important for this type of business, therefore the legislation in selected countries is briefly described, including internationally regarded certification.
In the practical part the author analyses the sales of the company Mondi Štětí a.s. in the years from 2010 to 2012 and defines countries with the highest purchasing of packaging paper for end-use with food contact.
The third part is devoted to evaluation of the market and the way the company trades on the market. There are contained proposals for optimization leading to the acceleration of trade in this commodity

International economical relations of European Union

The aim of this thesis is to create scenarios of a possible development of future economic relations between the European Union and Russia. These scenarios of a possible development will be based on a description of those relations beginning with those that began to build up between these two subjects after a break-up of the USSR till the contemporary status when the situation between Europe (or more precisely the European Union) and Russia became considerably tense. There will be two suggested scenarios of a possible development and the first is possible to be marked as a pessimistic one and the second an optimistic one. The pessimistic scenario will continue to develop the status quo that is heading for a further limitation of economic cooperation. The optimistic one will take into account a gradual releasing from the sanctions and a cooperation improvement and it will discuss a possible progress of mutual economic relations.

Evaluation of the importance of international trade for Finland

The diploma thesis is focused on Finnish international trade and its importance for the national economy. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical part and practical part.
The theoretical part is done using the method of literature research and contains relevant information about the international trade. It is focused on foreign market entry modes, delivery and payment terms, the importance of international trade in the national economy and economic sanctions using in international trade.
The practical part first describes the Finnish economy using the key economic indicators and then analyses the Finnish international trade. The analysis is mainly focused on the international trade with goods and contains chapters about development indicators, commodity and territorial structure, major export-oriented companies and government export support services. The thesis also analyses international trade between Czech Republic and Finland and the impact of Russian economic sanctions on Finnish exporters. In the final part, the results are summarized and evaluated and there are proposals to increase Finnish exports and strategies and recommendations for Czech exporters when trading with Finland.

International Monetary Fund

The object of this thesis is an analysis of the current role of the International Monetary Fund in the 21st century. The first part of this thesis is focused on history that led to foundation of this international organisation, the reasons for its establishment and its characterization. The second par introduces one from the most important roles of this Fund, which is providing of credit to the countries that have financial difficulties. The result of this part is an appraisal of these loans and their future development. The last part of this thesis assesses current tasks of the Internationl Monetary Fund and its role in the future.

Employment in a state-funded institution

This bachelor thesis is focused on employment in a state-funded institution. It is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part.
The theoretical part deals with analysis of legal regulations and their interpretation. The method of description is used in this part. The focus in legal regulations is on the problems of a state-funded institution, namely on the legal position and functioning and on management. The focus is also on labour relations, from the general definition to the conclusion of employment for a fixed period of time. The analysis of legal regulations is complemented with interpretations of authors of specialized publications.
Direct and indirect quotations are used in the text and are marked with footnotes.
The empirical part of this thesis deals with the application of legal regulations in a particular state-funded institution. The order of researched areas is in accordance with the theoretical part. The method of comparison and study of documents and internal regulations are used for analysing the data.
The primary research has shown that the legal regulations are applied without difficulty. The discovered discrepancy between the used terminology and the terminology in the Civil code does not invalidate legal documents and thus there is no need to mark it as a defect which needs to be fixed. Suggestions for discussion have been made, for which measures were proposed in the concluding part. The suggestions relate to arrangement of employment for a fixed period of time and its change to permanent contract and to allowance from the founder as a financial mean of a state-funded institution.

Exchange Differences in Accountancy in an Enterprise

In connection with economy globalisation, international cooperation of companies and expansion of international trade, the issue of exchange rates, transfer of currencies and exchange differences concerns companies more and more. The aim of this thesis was to show in theory as well as in practice how a company transfers assets and liabilities expressed in a foreign currency into Czech crowns by means of exchange rates. In the theoretical part, methods are described how to realise this transfer and abide by legal regulations concerning this issue. Next, accounting operations are given where it comes to creation of exchange differences. Data for the practical part were provided by the enterprise ESSA Ltd. On these data, the influence of exchange differences on the company's economic results in the years 2009-2015 is shown. The method of accounting exchange differences is presented on individual cases of accounts receivable and accounts payable. For orientation in the issue, model examples of other accounting cases are given where exchange differences may arise.
