The influence of trees on contamination of soil with 137Cs
TRNKOVÁ, Michaela
Nuclear weapons testing in the atmosphere and accidents in nuclear energy facilities in the last 50 years caused significant contamination of the environment. Half-life of certain leaked radionuclides is several decades and therefore they are still present in today's environment. That is the reason why there is still on going monitoring of radiation situation in the Czech Republic in order to determine the behaviour and kinetics of anthropogenic radionuclides in the environment and the severity of radiological impact on humans. The results of this monitoring serve to review the radiation situation, observe long-term trends and last but not least to gain new knowledge that could facilitate the management od radiological emergencies. The aim of this thesis was to measure the content of 137Cs in soils under and around leafy tree crowns in the area affected by radiation fall and to find out whether the tree's crown has an effect on the distribution of 137Cs in the soils below them. To this end, a research question has been set: Do tree crowns affect the distribution of cesium in the soils below them? For better intelligibility, the introduction of the thesis is devoted to information about ionizing radiation, basic terms and quantities in the field of ionizing radiation, sources of radionuclide contamination, especially the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, environmental and population contamination, and elements important for the practical part of this work. The theoretical part is followed by research methodology. The soil samples were collected under five leafy trees of the Walnut species that met the set criteria for collection. Under each tree, samples were taken in three directions at an angle of 120° always at the trunk, in the middle of the crown, at the edge of the crown and outside the crown. Thus, 12 samples per tree, a total of 60 samples. Dry and purified soil samples were measured by semiconductor gamma spectrometry which determined 137Cs radionuclide mass activity values as well as naturally occurring radionuclide40K. Graphs were generated from the measured values. Despite the frequent deviations that may be caused by natural phenomena or human activities, it was found out that tree crowns affect the distribution of 137Cs in the soils below them.

It is oriented to development of environmental sensitivity (using trees as the central theme).
Tree House - Příbytky v korunách stromů
Kubíček, Miroslav
Theoretical part of the project is comprehensive summary which shows the basic problematics of treehouses and their build-up. It also points to the quality of the build-up by which should be the construction made. The practical part represents a real project of holiday property on specific place set by client. One of the main problem during the creation of the project was to face the treehouse to the perfect valley-view. The benefits of the project are simplicity and possibility to use the treehouse during the winter time. Client had no visual request in advance.
Succinct encodings of trees
Juraszek, Adam ; Mareš, Martin (advisor) ; Majerech, Vladan (referee)
We focus on space-efficient, namely succinct, representations of static ordinal unlabeled trees. These structures have space complexity which is optimal up to a lower-order term, yet they support a reasonable set of operations in constant time. This topic has been studied in the last 27 years by numerous authors who came with several distinct solutions to this problem. It is not only of an academic interest, the succinct tree data structures has been used in several data-intensive applications, such as XML processing and representation of suffix trees. In this thesis, we describe the current state of knowledge in this area, compare the many different approaches, and propose several either new or alternative algorithms for operations in the representations alongside. Funkce stromů v zemědělské krajině - environmentální dopady a vliv na udržitelnost
JANDA, Karel
This thesis discusses the role of trees in agricultural landscape with a focus on the impact on the environment and on sustainability. First, general problems of current agriculture, and its effects on the components of the environment, are described. Then, I give a brief historical context of deforestation in the development of agricultural landscape is captioned. The main focus of the thesis is to explain the effect of various tree functions on the components of agricultural landscape. The effects of trees on atmosphere, hydrology, biology and soil are also described. Furthermore, I explain the elements of non-forest woody vegetation, which can be found in agricultural landscape, are described. The final part of the thesis evaluates the various functions of trees according to the number of references, presented in literature in the form of tables and graphs.
To Dvur Kralove by train - Transfer Terminal in Dvur Kralove nad Labem
Vítková, Kateřina ; Kristek, Jan (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
Design of transfer terminal for Dvůr Králové nad Labem, which will allow the transfer between the train, regional bus and urban public transport and will connect the city to the overall infrastructure of the Czech Republic. It is intended to use the existing industrial spur leading from the railway station to the Teplárna Dvůr Králové nad Labem. In addition to its own transport function, the design of the civic amenities is also envisaged. The new terminal will also serve as a gateway to the city. When designing a conceptual solution, it was a decisive intention to take the terminal as a place where the transport solution goes hand in hand with the public space. Terminal is in this case undeunderstood as an impetus for the development of the territory. Not only it does have to fulfill its transport function perfectly, it should also serve as a public space and connect neighboring non-homogeneous entities. Definition (promenade), filling / interconnection (trees), opening (free area - soft border). The contrast of the covered subtle promenade and the massive masses. The two sides of the triangular parcel are clearly defined by the covered promenade. To the so-called street queue are placed individual functions in the form of units 6x6 m. From the west direction there is the ending of railway inserted to the promenade and an island platform used also for the tram stop, which passes the passage from the inside. The resulting courtyard is formed by a regular tree raster, which creates a clearly defined composite space in a disparate area. This "forest" optically unifies the site and acts as the core of the entire terminal. In perspective freake, the forest while passing through the terminal change, sometimes it creates lines, sometimes surfaces. It does not define clearly the exit nor the entrance, it is open in all directions. Bus platforms are integrated into the raster of trees. While waiting for the bus, one is protected by a vault of trees. Buses leave the orchard and pass through the promenade out of the terminal to 28th October street. Towards the center, Tesco and Christmas decorations, the open space is created, creates a soft border, allows free movement of people in all directions. The vision for the future also involves continuation of the tram line further into the center. The tram would go through the tree trunks out of the terminal around the Christmas decorations. Neighboring Tesco is seen here as an opportunity, it is embedded in the terminal area, its function at the station is more than welcome. The whole traffic of the terminal is one way. All the traffic comes from the west side. Buses pull away to the street of 28 October. Tramway to Benešovo nábřeží. The train ends here.
Revitalization Program of Floral Garden in Kromeriz
Guzdek, Adam ; Šupler, Libor (referee) ; Jura, Pavel (advisor)
Today's entrance through honorable courtyard is so representative that there's no sense of replacing it by a new one anywhere else. The entrance object has a triangular tympanum including Maxmilian Josef's gold signature and coat of arms. It looks like noble city palace of that period. Sense of the first floor, so called piano nobile, is slightly recognizing on a facade. It's the floor with a larger high that's intended for representation. Therefore I decided to use the historical object fully and all the visitors' equipment, exhibition and lecture spaces are placed right here. New-buildings in the garden are minimized that way. I conceived both of the resolving gardens very sparingly. The reason is their historical essence. Always they were only related to the formal part of the Flower garden. Premises used for any purpose (breeding of rare birds, resource for rabbit hill, growing tulips and oranges). Květnice with the cut lane walls to allow the visitor facilities and provide some exciting long-distance views Converging walls, disorientation in space, entertainment in the bowling alley, in the maze. These elements should remain a formal part of the garden today. They should be isolated and without competition. I design gardens with order, as well as the designed Libosad itself.
