Kiss of the Death in Czech fine Art 1895-1918
Tomášková, Klára ; Bendová, Eva (advisor) ; Pech, Milan (referee)
In this bachelor's thesis, I will present theme of a kiss in different perspective other than classic kiss of love, between a man and a woman. I will deal with the kiss as a sign of death. I focus on Czech modern art in the years 1895 - 1918. Kiss, in this unusual meaning, we can find, for example in the form of the so called angel's kiss, signifying the departure of the soul to the other world. We observe this scene in the painting Světice by Josef Mandl from 1905, besides the painting itself, we will explain the symbol of the deadly angel's kiss as such. The second chapter of the work refers to the key topic related to the kiss of death, the subject of Judas kiss. In Christianity, specifically in the New Testament, Judas Iscariot marks Christ with his kiss, thereby condemning him to death. This theme can symbolize not only death but especially betrayal. In Czech modern art, it can be analyzed in the painting of the same name by Jan Konůpek from 1912. I dedicate the last chapter of the work to a frequent symbolic theme, the kiss of death in the form of a kiss by skeleton. This theme, also popular in Edvard Munch's work, resonates in Czech art in the work of Bohumil Kubišta, The Kiss of Death, from 1912. The method of my work will be the description and analysis of the mentioned works and their...

Helinská, Michaela ; Krejčí, Jiří (advisor) ; Lejsal, Matěj (referee)
This thesis deals with a very sensitive issue, such as the area of care of terminally ill and dying children. The fundamental theme of this thesis is the needs of parents during the care of a terminally ill child. The main purpose of this thesis is to map the needs of parents who are caring for their terminally ill child and to find out how their needs change during the course of their child's illness, dying and after death. An equally important aim is to find out how services providing children's palliative care respond to parents' needs and how parents assess the level of care provided. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. In the introductory chapter of the theoretical part of the thesis, attention is paid to a general introduction to the field of dying and death. The following chapters deal with palliative care and the specifics of paediatric palliative care and the ways in which this care is provided in the Czech Republic. Another important topic of the theoretical part of the thesis is the area of human needs and their satisfaction. In the conclusion of the thesis the impact of a serious illness on the child and on the family of the sick child is also described. The empirical part of the thesis is devoted to qualitative research, which was carried out using...

Literary adaptations of the dramatic conflict in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet
Zuzáková, Adéla ; Blinková Pelánová, Eva (advisor) ; Neumann, Lukáš (referee)
The bachelor's thesis entitled Literary adaptations of the dramatic conflict in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet explores the uniqueness of the "Shakespearean theme" and the construction of dramatic conflict in Romeo and Juliet. The thesis is focused on a detailed interpretation and the dual emphasis of the story: the theme of love and the theme of social conflict. Subsequently, the thesis examines the possibilities of reception of Shakespearean conflict in two selected texts: the novel Romeo and Juliet in the Countryside (1856) by Gottfried Keller and the novel Romeo Juliet and Darkness (1958) by Jan Otčenášek. The novels are interpreted, and the construction and escalation of their conflicts are described. The thesis also includes a closer comparison of the both novels with Shakespeare's text. KEYWORDS Romeo, Juliet, conflict, community, love, death
Didactic potential of literary works with the theme of death in primary education
Bauerová, Zuzana ; Komberec, Filip (advisor) ; Laufková, Veronika (referee)
The thesis deals with the topic of death and how to convey it to the pupils of primary school by means of literature. The first aim of the thesis is to justify why the topic of death belongs in the primary school curriculum. The main reason is that if communication about the topic of death is denied to children or is done in an inappropriate way, children form wrong ideas about it, which can have a negative impact on them. This thesis explores how the concept of death evolves over time, both within society and in the individual. Another aim is to explore the specifics of working with texts containing the death motif. In fact, literature is the most appropriate tool to open up the topic of death and help individual to process it. This applies in the school environment as well as outside of it. It is caused not only by the content itself, but also because of the way the recipient processes the information received from this medium. The main aim of this paper is to compile a list of literary works suitable for dealing with the theme of death in a school setting and to briefly characterize them. I have chosen one book title for each year of primary school and proposed a methodology for the work. Ordered from first grade to fifth grade, I selected the following works: The Visit from Little Death, The...
