Analysis of the influence of ski training in the first year of the study program PE and Sport at high altitude on the selected students' fitness requirements
KŘÍŽENECKÝ, Daniel
This thesis analyzes the physical predispositions of students from the first grade of the physical education who attended a ski course. This course took place in France. This fact is quite important for the thesis because the course took place in a higher altitude. The main aim of the thesis is to compare results of tested probands before and after the course. At first, there was an information meeting where we provided more information about the aim of this thesis and about the testing. After this meeting we went to KTVS laboratory where the first measuring happened. After that all probands and other students left for the ski course to France for a week. The accommodation was in an Alpe d´Huez center which is situated 1860 meters and the highest point of it which is 3330 meters above the sea level. Probands were practicing in very high altitude all week. In this thesis we also look at how hard it is to work in this altitude, what kind of advantages and disadvantages it might have and which danger might come up. It is also necessary to think about the process of how probands should prepare themselves not to underestimate anything. The second measuring happened after the return to the Czech Republic. It also took place in KTVS laboratory. After the measuring we started analyzing all measured data of probands. We compared this data. After that we realised what this course brought to the students. We wanted to know what happens in following parts: body composition, Wingate test, spiroergometry and spirometry. In each part we were interested in some specific parameters that are related to this topic. We included specific parameters like: body fat, muscle mass, body water, maximum performance, average performance, maximum 5 seconds performance, fatigue index, VO2max, oxygen pulse, minute respiratory volume and vigorous vital capacity.

Title: The relationship of body composition and aerobic fitness in the elderly Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the aerobic fitness of students at University of Third Age at the UK FTVS and to investigate whether there exists an association between body composition and aerobic fitness. Methods: The research involved 54 seniors (age 64 ± 2.71 years, body height 163.23 ± 6.05 cm) who studied at University of the 3rd Age at the UK FTVS at the time of research. The original sample of probands was 91, but people aged over 70 years and people taking heart-rate medications had to be excluded. Measurments of body composition was performed using BIA 2000M multifrequency bioimpedance analysis. The investigated parameters were total body water (TBW), intracellular water (ICW), extracellular water (ECW) in litres, fat free mass (FFM) in kg, percentage of body fat (% BF) and extracellular and body cell mass ratio (ECM/BCM). Measurement of aerobic fitness was performed by a 2 km test pass, evaluated by Stejskal at the athletic stadium UK FTVS. Time and heart rate were scanned by sporttester (Polar S 610i). The data was processed using the IBM SPSS statistics 22. Results: The results showed that our group belongs to "avarage seniors" in terms of aerobic fitness. A significant relationship...

Novotná, Kateřina ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Tuka, Vladimír (referee)
Topic: Adherence and compliance with weight reduction modes This bachelor thesis deals with the impact of an individual two-month weight reduction program with regular and continuous online controlling of the body weight and the diet. The main goal is to determine the changes in body composition and weight in patients based on input and output analysis method to evaluate the success of the program. The second goal is to verify whether the regular and continuous online controlling method and online counseling with a nutritional therapist, did have an impact on adherence and compliance of patients on the reduction program. The weight reduction program took place at the 3rd. Medical Department - Clinic of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and General Teaching Hospital in Prague. Body composition analysis was assessed using the InBody 720 bioimpedance device. Measured components were: following body weight, BMI, body fat and the skeletal muscle mass. From all 11 patients who started the two-month individual weight reduction program with the regular and continuous online control have 9 patients complete the program, this means 82% complete rate. These 9 patients, on average represents 90 research days, while the average number of the actually recorded days...
Change in body composition of overweight and obese clients after weight reduction intervention using group cognitive behavioral therapy
Šuterová, Jana ; Slabá, Šárka (advisor) ; Málková, Iva (referee)
The main aim of the study is to determine a body composition in participants of weight reduction program STOB, based on group cognitive behavioral therapy of obesity. The program lasted 12 weeks and participants underwent a cognitive behavioral therapy and followed a diet and physical activity plan. The body composition was measured by bioelectrical impedance InBody 230 at the initial and final lesson. We examined a participant's body weight, skeletal muscle, fat mass, abdominal fat mass and BMI. At the end of the weight reduction program participants lost 5% (-4,6kg) of their initial weight, achieved significant decrease in fat mass (average -4,3kg and -3%), lost 14,4cm2 of abdominal fat mass and mean BMI value decreased by 1,7. A muscle component hasn't significantly changed within the weight reduction program. The effect of 12 week weight reduction program STOB resulted in significant changes in body composition, which are associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular and metabolic complications of obesity. Using cognitive behavioral therapy as an obesity management strategy is positively evaluated especially for its effect on long term weight reduction and effective relapse prevention. Therefore a future study should be focused on a long term re-evaluation of changes in body composition in...
Body composition parameters in dependence on the metabolism degree in patients with COPD
Doleželová, Magdaléna ; Kovařík, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hronek, Miloslav (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biological and Medical Sciences Student: Magdaléna Doleželová Supervisor of master thesis: PharmDr. Miroslav Kovařík, Ph.D. Title of master thesis: Body composition parameters in dependence on the metabolism degrese in patiens with COPD Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a very serious illness characterized by incompletely reversible airflow obstruction and lung emphysema. Contributes to its overall severity are extrapulmonary manifestations, especially cachexia and loss of lean tissue mass. Chronic inflammation of the respiratory airways and increased respiratory effort cause the hypermetabolic state to some patients with COPD. This thesis investigates the impact of increased metabolism on body composition in patients with COPD. Our study included 50 COPD patients (38 men, 12 women) who were examined by bioelectrical impedance. In this study, we compared the parameters of body composition of men with resting energy expenditure REE > 130% (hereinafter Men over 130%) (n = 9) and the group of men with REE < 130 % (hereinafter Men below 130 %) (n = 29). In the group of Men over 130 % we found a lower average value of body weight by 18 % compared to Men below 130 %. Total body and intracellular water were 12 %...
The possibilities of physical exercise in relation to the metabolism after spinal cord injury
Olišarová, Eva ; Hlinková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kříž, Jiří (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to summarize the information about the possibilities of the physical exercise in individuals with the spinal cord injury. The work presents various types of the physical activity and describes their effect on metabolism and body composition. It also includes the information about the frequency, the duration and the intensity of exercise. The interruption of the somatomotor and somatosensory pathways in patients with spinal cord injury leads to the reduction of their physical activity. As a consequence of that, their metabolic profile and body composition get worse. Early after the injury, the patients suffer from the massive muscle atrophy and the rise of the amount of adipose tissue. These changes have a negative effect on metabolism of lipids and carbohydrates. It results in the development of dyslipidaemia and insulin resistance, sometimes even in type 2 diabetes mellitus. These secondary complications worsen the quality and the length of life of the patients with the spinal cord injury. Better understanding of these issues is necessary to improve the quality of health care for these people. The work includes a short questionnaire. Its goal is to describe the current situation of patients with the spinal cord injury in the Czech Republic. The questionnaire was...

Dyrcová, Martina ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (referee)
The thesis is dealing with the effect of the three-month reduction program with physical activity on body composition and changes in body weight of each participant in the program. To reduce weight and reach health benefit means especially to reduce single components of body fat. The goal was to find out what changes in body composition and body weight have been done, analyze it and evaluate the success rate of this program. The three month reduction programmes took place in a recondition centre VŠTJ Medicina Praha, o.s. The results of the research were compared and evaluated on the basis of input and output measuring by a bioimpedance device InBody. The evaluated components were: body weight, BMI, waistline, muscle mass, lean body mass, total body water and the amount of work-out hours in the recondition centre. Program duration was also considered. From the total number of 60 participants (11 men and 49 women), 42 successfully finished the program (7 men and 35 women). Statistically significant differences have been found in the input and output of body weight, BMI, waistline and amount of body fat. Each mentioned parameter has been decreased. The other parameters have not been significantly changed. The effectiveness of the three month reduction program is noticeable especially in increasing...
