Case report of physiotherapeutical care of a patient with scoliosis.

Author: Barbora Rosalie Váchová Title: Case report of physiotherapeutical care of a patient with scoliosis. Objectives: The main object is to report about problematics of scoliosis and to write down possible process of physiotherapeutical care of a patient with this diagnosis. Methods: The thesis consists of a general part and a special one. In the general one the spine scoliosis issue is processed via the recherche form. The special part was processed during the practise held in the Fakultni nemocnice Kralovske Vinohrady by the means of casuistry, formed when working with a female patient diagnosed with scoliosis. The casuistry includes intrance kinesiologic analysis, short-term and long- term therapy plan, suggestion of the therapy, process of the therapeutic units, output kinesiologic analysis and evaluation of the therapy effect. Results: After completing the therapy units the state of the soft tissues of the patient has markedly improved and thus to improve her motion stereotypes. Evaluation of the effect of conservative approach in the treatment of scoliosis

Title: Evaluation of the effect of conservative approach in the treatment of scoliosis Objective : The purpose of this thesis is to summarize scoliosis issue, natural history, causes, consequences and effectiveness of conservative therapy. Based on the critical literature review there was an intention to evaluate effects of physiotherapy intervention in the treatment of scoliosis and compare individual physical therapy approaches. Methods: This thesis is a descriptive analysis based on a literature review. Results: Based on the research paper only twelve articles met our criteria that address the effect of exercise to influence scoliosis and its consequences. The most commonly used conservative approaches included: Schroth concept, FITS, SEAS, SIR, Klapp-Cotrell concept, Vojta method, program of active self- correction and task- oriented exercise, forward head corrective exercise program, MedX Rotary Torso Machine and LTX 3000. Despite that fact, each approach showed some effect, it is not possible to say which approach is the most effective. Keywords: scoliosis, conservative treatment, Cobb angle, physiotherapy
An experience of well-being, self-esteem, hardiness and a social support of adolescents and young adults with an idiopathic scoliosis

The rigorous thesis deals with an experience of well-being, self-esteem, hardiness and a social support of adolescents and young adults with an idiopathic scoliosis. The text is split into a theoretical and a practial part systematicaly. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with definition of terms: scoliosis, well-being, self-esteem, hardiness and a social support. We report also an overview of czech and foreign researches related to a perception of quality of life by specific groups of individuals suffered by a chronic diseases, adolescents and young adults. The empirical part of the thesis has four main parts. It brings data collected from a survey, deals with data analyzes and their interpretation. A reasearch sample of 77 people diagnosed as an adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is compared according to the degree of disability, undergoing spinal surgery, according to the age and compared to the healty population. Monitoring postural and respiratory function in patients with Duchennne muscular dystrophy

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a progressive muscle disease that is still incurable. The disease affects all systems in the body and is therefore a need for a comprehensive approach. It manifests itself in childhood muscle weakness. Over time, there is a postural and respiratory changes affecting posture and the respiratory system. Depending on the changes of these functions leads to certain complications. Among these complications rank poorly stereotype walk, spinal deformities such as scoliosis, bad stereotype affect breathing, leading to vital lung function and many more. These complications are present in a particular time sequence and can be assigned to a specific patient age. This thesis is focused on the monitoring of postural and respiratory function in these patients. The work is the evaluation of these changes when they occur and in which the patient's age. Patients are rehabilitated life and physiotherapy is an integral part of treatment. It focuses possibilities of surgical treatment of scoliosis. Selected anthropometrics and scoliosis measurements in basic school pupils

The theoretical part of this thesis aims to summarize the knowledge of anthropological measurements, national anthropological research, and scoliosis from the available sources of information. The research part of the thesis consists in measurements of height, weight and Adams' angle of 540 primary school pupils in Hoštka and Štětí. The resulting data are compared with national anthropological research of 2001. The measured values are further statistically analyzed and confronted with the data in scientific literature. Orthotic equipment of idiopathic scoliosis

Title: Orthotic equipment of idiopathic scoliosis Objectives: The aim of my work is a summary of information dealing with scoliosis of the spine. In the beginning of the theoretical part I will briefly explain the anatomy and biomechanics of the spine, which are necessary for understanding. In the chapter on scoliosis I will focus on treatment, both operational and fuselage orthoses , which I will detaily describe in the next section. I will bring all types ortheses for the treatment of scoliosis and I will focus primarily on the production process , application, negative and positive effects of conservative treatment. The practical part of the drafting case reports about patients affected by idiopathic scoliosis and to points out their orthotic equipment. In conclusion, I evaluate scoliosis treatment method using ortheses. Methods: To solve this problem I will apply the method of collecting data from the literature , magazines and publications related mainly to general issues of scoliosis. In chapters about the types of ortheses and it's manufacturin I use mainly my experience in practice. Aspects of the tretment of idiopathic scoliosis

Title: Aspects of the tretment of idiopathic scoliosis. Objectives: The aim of this bachelor thesis is complete the form to submit basic information about the ways and possibilities of treatment of idiopathic scoliosis with a focus on conservative treatment with orthoses fuselage. To capture the issue of disease, not only in terms of diagnosis, but also bring aspects of adoption and then handicap orthotic aids patient. Methods: For creation of thesis was used qualitative research method of data collection and analysis of secondary data from scientific articles, magazines and publications. This information was subsequently reviewed and consulted with an expert in the field of orthotics. Results: Indications night hypercorection orthoses for patients in many ways more acceptable and complies with the prescribed mode applications than the 23-hours braces. It presents various scoliosis types, risk factors, prognosis, diagnostic procedures as well as treatment possibilities. A big emphasis is especially laid on conservative treatment including the most frequently used therapeutic methods and physical therapy which mainly solves secondary scoliosis symptoms. The bachelor's thesis also includes some items of case history describing children patients suffering from scoliosis. In these cases exercising on unstable plates, the therapeutic method of deep stabilization system activation as well as partly modified Klapp's creeping were applied.
Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient with the diagnosis of syringomyelia

Title of bachelor's thesis: Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient with the diagnosis of syringomyelia Objectives: Gain of theoretical knowledge about the diagnosis of syringomyelia and subsequent case study formulation of a patient with this diagnosis during continuous work placement. Methods: The first part of the bachelor thesis contains theoretical knowledge about the diagnosis of syringomyelia, focused on its definition, classificaton, epidemiology, etiopatogenesis, diagnostics, symptomatology, therapy, physiotherapy treatment and prognosis. The second part includes a complete case study of my physiotherapeutic treatment of selected patient with the diagnosis of syringomyelia. Conclusions: Physiotherapy treatment proved effective in alleviation from pain and other problems but the possibilities of complex treatment were very limited due to progression of the ailment.
