Stress induced morphogenic response in plant root system
Otradovcová, Michala ; Soukup, Aleš (advisor) ; Vaňková, Radomíra (referee)
The root system architecture adjustment is one of the possible plant reactions to stress effects of environmental conditions. The shape of root system is jointly formed by the root apical meristem activity, the rate of elongation of root cells and by the degree of formation, developement and organization of secondary and adventitious roots. This paper aims to describe basic mechanisms of the root system developement and outline the morphological and regulatory changes occuring during development while being affected by selected stress factors.
Cellular localization and functional characterization of TTL proteins of Arabidopsis
Schier, Jakub ; Soukup, Aleš (advisor) ; Schwarzerová, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis focuses on the study of TTL protein family in the model species Arabidopsis thaliana. It sums up available published data on this so far poorly studied genes and presents newly gained experimental data. Main emphasis is given to TTLs cellular localization in possible relationship to their physiological function. Presented thesis comprises of in silico analysis of TTL proteins, but also the creation and microscopy analysis of TTL-mRuby2 and TTL-GFP fusion proteins in transient and permanent transformants. Development related termination of the root apical meristem activity
Benešová, Šárka ; Soukup, Aleš (advisor) ; Vaňková, Radomíra (referee)
Development Related Termination of the Root Apical Meristem Activity Abstract Root system architecture is modulated through growth and branching of individual roots, while the growth is strictly regulated via long term apical meristem (RAM) maintenance and cell elongation. RAM activity is not consistent during root on- togeny, which was shown in several dicotyledonous species as change in root meristem structure and decline in root growth rate during individual root development. This thesis is focused on changes in extent and arrangement of meristematic tissues and their derivatives within adventitious roots of Acorus calamus and Oryza sativa during long term cultivation. Changes in meristem and elongation zone length, the root cap length, radial tissue complexity, as well as the changes in root hair emergence, etc., are put into relation with quantified expression level of selected important regulatory elements taking part in RAM maintenance (WOX and SCR family transcription factors). Methodology and approach for future research in this field are outlined. Keywords: Root, Apical Meristem, Root System Architecture, RAM Termination
Root apoplastic barriers in adverse environmental conditions.
Blascheová, Zuzana ; Tylová, Edita (advisor) ; Konrádová, Hana (referee)
Differentiation of apoplastic barriers in roots is affected by adverse environmental conditions (e.g. heavy metal toxicity, salinity or flooding). The apoplastic barriers, exodermis and endodermis, differ from each other in response to environmental conditions. The exodermis is more affected by these conditions and its occurence is more variable. The presence of differentiated barriers affects root transport features like uptake, accumulation and entrance of polutants or nutrients. Key words: apoplastic barriers, heavy metals, differentiation, root, Casparian strips, suberin lamellae
Tests of Semiconductor Detectors in Prague Laboratory
Sýkora, Martin ; Kodyš, Peter (advisor) ; Řezníček, Pavel (referee)
This thesis is focused on automatisation and synchronisation of newly installed devices in Prague laboratory. The devices will form an experimental arran- gement not only for laser tests of ITK modules for the ATLAS detector, but also for tests of other types of semiconductor detectors. In addition to ensuring of a central control of the devices the goal of the thesis was to understand the principle of particle detection in high energy physics as well as to get acquainted with the construction of pixel and microstrip detectors. I participated in the development of a script for cont- rolling a laser, 3-axis motorised translation stages, an optical attenuator and a pulse generator via RS-232 and GPIB communication interfaces from an object-oriented program ROOT. Finally, all installed devices were put into operation and a detailed description of their bundled software and internal control commands was included. The apparatus will participate during upcoming years in the research of the new generation of ITK modules for ATLAS upgrade.
DEPFET - Semiconductor Detectors on Japan Project Belle II
Nečadová, Alžběta ; Kodyš, Peter (advisor) ; Doležal, Zdeněk (referee)
This work deals with accuracy of silicon detectors, especially pixel detector DEPFET. Prediction of particle's in-detector position measurement errors was determined from simulated data and dependence of these errors on several parameters was analysed-some of the parameters relating to the detector (e.g. pixel size) and another relating to the particle (e.g. its energy). Basics about principle of silicon detectors, their applications and accuracy, experiment Belle and Belle II in KEK (The High Energy Accelerator Research Organization) and also statistic method as ANOVA, regression trees, division by probability (using entropy) are summarized here. Finally, original processing of simulated data (using regression trees) and resulting error predictions are presented.
Elementary mathematics from an advanced standpoint
Kučera, Jiří ; Bečvář, Jindřich (advisor) ; Staněk, Jakub (referee)
Mine thesis is written for self-study of secondary school graduates students which prepare for the mathematically oriented high schools. It clarifies theoretical approach to mathematics. It was chosen topics exponents, square roots, logarithms and equations that contain these objects for this purpose. For this reason students are given the opportunity to gain stance to university mathematics knowledge that should be known from high school. In addition, his work allows him to enlarge knowledge of those topics and learn heavier and unusual examples.
Riemann zeta function
Čoupek, Petr ; Rokyta, Mirko (advisor) ; Zahradník, Miloš (referee)
Riemann zeta function represents an important tool in analytical number theory with various applications in quantum mechanics, probability theory and statistics. First introduced by Bernhard Riemann in 1859, zeta function is a central object of many outstanding problems. From previous results follows the importance of zeta function for further development in the field of number theory. This thesis provides basic properties of the Riemann zeta function. In particular, we prove theorems concerning the distribution of its roots outside and inside the critical strip which leads to the formulation of the Riemann hypothesis and theorems concerning the irrationality of selected values of the Riemann zeta function including the proof of the irrationality of ζ(3). 1
Testování polovodičových detektorů typu DEPFET
Malina, Lukáš ; Kodyš, Peter (advisor) ; Doležal, Zdeněk (referee)
DEPFET pixel detectors were developed more than 20 years ago and they are still being improved, for example on Belle II experiment in Japan. In this thesis we studied the properties of readout cycle of detector matrix and the movement of counted hit positions close to the edges of DEPFET matrix, the which is reffered to as edge effect. The main goal of this work was to familiarize with particle detectors and their principles, especially with DEPFET matrices, to set up laser test system and to write ROOT macro for measurement automatization, run the measurement and analyze obtained data. For this purpose we used red 3 nanosecond long laser pulses, moving stages with very fine step and two connected pulse generators. As a result, the voltage between the outer ring and the inner part of the detector active area was optimalised, the edge effect was reduced by a factor of 2. The time properties of readout cycle, the time period of charge clearing and the time in which is the matrix read out, have been found.
