OLOMOUC – Densification Urbaine – Urban Consolidation
Bystroň, Tomáš ; Jung, Adam (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
The aim of the project is to complete the city on two levels. Within the meaning of densifying the development, i.e. filling the now empty site with a building that exploits the potential of the site, and of complementing the functional structure of the city with a building that would bring new opportunities for the city. The undevelopment of the site is based on the historical context. Previously, the site was the place of the fortification system of the city of Olomouc and the Morava River was used as a natural barrier; after the abolition of the fortification system, most of the vacant strip was built over, but some empty spaces still remain, as it is in the case with the site. At the same time, the city of Olomouc has basically no city architect and all efforts for architectural debate, exhibitions or development are scattered in a decentralised way. The city also has a very small elementary art school, which is out of proportion to the music school located near the location of my design. The project therefore aims to meaningfully complete to city.

The aim of the thesis is to propose one of the buildings (library) in the complex in detail. The work could be used as a topic for a public discussion about the development of the territory for the inhabitants and municipal council of Velké Meziříčí.

Livovská, Lucia ; Mašek, Radomír (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma project is resolving the possibilities of designing contemporary buildings into the historical context of city centre. The emphasis is aimed on urban integration of new volumes into the present city structure and its genius loci. The result of the design should be buildings with specific character and clear dispositions using quality materials. The area is located near the city centre of Hradec Králové and is defined by the streets Comenius, I.Herrmann and Hradecká. It is directly adjacent to the historic city center. In the middle of the area is flowing The Orlice River, which divides area into two separately designed zones, which is communicating with each other. The presence of the river is considered to be a distinctive urban-forming element that needs to be used and promoted in the city. One of the characteristics of the site is the poor state of public spaces, several significant barriers, whether moving, operational or visible and urban unconnected areas or unreasonable used areas and buildings. The surrounding of The Orlice River, flowing through the center of Hradec Králové, is from near future very important, but at the same time hard to handle. All three facts - the city center plot, the presence of the river, but also the neglected public spaces - leading this area rehabilitated, revitalized and made accessible to people.

Riverside house
Kapraľová, Kristína ; Mikulášek, David (referee) ; Palaščák, Michal (advisor)
Design of the urban structure and residential housing design by the river Svitava. The design responds to strictness of the city and freedom of the river flow. Design creates boundary territory with a precisely defined character, which optically does not separate the territory from the rest of the area. Connect both two principles are possible due to platforms, on which the residential parts are situated. The whole house is one platform and two separated parts of residential buildings. The residential buildings are lightened from all around. One building is wide and low, second one is narrow and tall. Facades are made from balconies which make a sun protection and allow view on the river and city centre.
