The exotism of the travels in the old czech voyages and the chivarlic novels
Heřmanská, Kateřina ; Hošna, Jiří (advisor) ; Matějec, Tomáš (referee)
The bacheloral work is aimed at the topic of the exotic area's construction in the old czech voyages (The Marco Polo's Million, The voyages called Mandevilla) and the chivarlic novels (The chronicle of Bruncvik, The Duke Ernest). We want to find connections between literary pictures of the exotic places and the common reception of the World and unknown space. Firstly we prepare simple teoretic base, which describe medieval people's dreams and ideas of the mysterious, exotic places on the East and the position of the new genres (voyages and chivarlic novel) in the czech literary context of the beggining of the 15th century. Than, we compair four old czech works, which use travels as the main theme of the story, and find the same or similar motives of the exotism. The construction of the place is made by three elements, which have their own symbolic meanings; it is a picture of the landscape, containned horrible deserts and pleasant spaces, fantastic or real flowers and animal, and mainly strange people, whose physical deformations reflect their different lifestyle. The conclusion of the results and their comparation to the teoretic base is described in the summary.

The work is given a chapter on the administrative area of Sedlecko to point out conflicts of interest of Czech kings and Roman rulers in this territory and the formation of the state historic town of Cheb and between the 12th and 13th century. The origins of Ostrov agglomeration is linked to the family of Hrabišic. The following chapter discusses their family, their asset base and foundation. The main part is devoted to the translocation and the relocation of settlements from the center of the parish church of St. James to St. Nicholas. The reason was, as it was previously shown, an unsatisfactory position of the original settlement for its further development, which was necessary for the competitiveness of the local market center. It subsequently evolved into a town. This situation culminated in the privilege of King John of Luxembourg. At that time a new and relatively big church was being built which replaced the church of St. James. It was a part of the settlement and farmstead of the family of Hrabišic and...

HOUSE ON THE FOOTHILL - TOWN HOUSE IN THE HISTORICAL CENTRE
Veselá, Marie ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Oplatek, Jiří (advisor)
Potential sites lies not only in its location but also the dominant position it holds to their surroundings. Undeveloped plot represents a "node" or "island" ... loosening strictly linear character Bakery. It is a place which brings together three disparate streams - Classical serious at the running part of Mendel Square, dramatically quarreling upper section flowing into the area from Hus class and insignificant Anenská that, if there "just got lost." All "three" street, however, are closely connected with the plot and the transformation of space clearly indicates their transformation. A distinctive feature of the property is its visual exposure of looking from Mendel Square, the plot creates a "picture" to which the pawn closer. This image should be interesting, changing to attract one's attention for more than just one or two seconds. The image should not least communicate - what is happening on the ground, what links are individual objects ... a landmark and should, for use by infantrymen use. It should also not be attractive from a distance - when one zooms in close proximity, should be surprised by the discovery of something new, something that was not noticeable from a distance, it should be attention to detail, or idea that can be seen only at close contact.
WHAT TO DO? Conversion of industrial premises, Brno - Obřany
Guzdek, Adam ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Oplatek, Jiří (advisor)
From 18 century, Czech lands were advanced industrial part of the Austrian monarchy and Brno became a textile industrial city. In the middle of 19th century in an open area of the island there was a spinning mill built in Obřany. Then 70 years later it was replaced by an object, which is the subject of the diploma work at this time. In process of time some other buildings, stores and offices were built and so created the atmosphere of an industrial town. The spinning mill with its strong dominant asymetric position by today's bridge over the river Svitava becomes a focus of activity on the island. Its neoclassical décor and large articulated windows remind style of French water palaces rather than an industrial building. Symmetrical building is disturbed by placing a water tower at the southeast corner. The internal structure clearly shows the contents of the original function - a storey location of machines. The object tectonics is also readable from this structure, where the top floor consists of a grid of slender pillars, while in the ground there are pillars bearing the brunt of all floors. And it supports my choice to make free no cut space from the fourth floor; with two skylights, which also gets daylight depth into the spinning mill. Dominance of the spinning mill over the island is balanced by plane-tree. It supports the assumption of the residence, since these trees can be found in many castle parks. Just these two symbols of animate and inanimate nature are becoming mainstays of my concept - the house and tree. At this time, when the island has failed to fulfill the function of industrial area, a closed unit, it should become accessible to the general public again. There were open green spaces till the early 19th century. In my project I clean the island into a form so that it will be subjected only to significant mass and old tree. The island will offer the missing grassed area in contrast to the surrounding forested hills.
