Application of operational research methods in selected company
Bílková, Jitka ; Kvasnička, Roman (advisor) ; Horáková, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor thesis discusses Queuing models one of many disciplines of operational research. At the beginning of theoretical part is introduced operational research and briefly described different disciplines. Then there are described queuing models and laid the theoretical basis, in which are explained main characteristics of queuing models. At the end of theoretical part is mentioned how to classify queuing models. In the practical parts is selected problem which will be solved using queuing models. This problem is servicing customers at the branch of company Česká pošta. From the obtained information is created queuing model, which is classify as M/M/c according Kendalls classification. On the created systems are applied analytical calculation and used simulation model. For simulation is used program MS Excel and randomly generated numbers. Process of creating simulation model is continuously recorded. Simulation model is running for 5000 customers to ensure that the results have adequate explanatory power. The created simulation model is found to be invaluable at the final comparison of results obtained from both approaches. Simulation model provides more information, that in analytical model are not available. These additional valuables information are use for the closing recommendation.
Optimization of Routes for Public Transport
Neumarová, Andrea ; Kučera, Petr (advisor) ; Fejfar, Jiří (referee)
This bachelor thesis, Optimization of Routes for Travel Agencies, deals mainly with traveling agency problem and its optimization for a specific travel agency. For the purposes of this research, the author has chosen routes from Václav Haver International Airport to several hotels from Prag area - Andel's Hotel Prague, Art Deco Imperial Hotel, EA Hotel Jasmín, Hotel Fortuna Rhea, InterContinental Prague, Orea Hotel Pyramida Praha, Panorama hotel Prague. The main object is to examine which of the selected tours are economically optimized (by costs). The theoretical chapter is focused to the distribution tasks as well as methods, whose application leads to the optimization of the routes. The practical chapter includes the modificated nearest neighbor method, and the Vogel approximation method. To illustrate the application of heuristic methods the calculation is carried out by savings method, too. In conclusion, the obtained results are evaluated and suggestions made for a more economic solutions of the routes examined
Využití lineárního programování při tvorbě výživového doporučení
Páleník, Leoš
This thesis deals with the use of linear programming in the development of nutritional recommendations. The aim of this work is to minimize the cost of food in compliance with the recommended daily intake of nutrients. For this purpose will be created a diet that will meet the recommended daily nutritional intake of nutrients at once and will be the cheapest possible.
Apartment Reconstruction Project
Pecháčková, Karolina ; Smolíková, Lenka (referee) ; Doskočil, Radek (advisor)
The work focuses on the use of network analysis in the reconstruction of a flat in practice. It analyzes the current state of the building, the requirements of owners and their financial situation. It proposes ways and possibilities of project management using network analysis methods.
Linear Programming Used as an Effective Weapon by Manager
Zaoralová, Hana ; Havlíček, Radomír (referee) ; Chvátalová, Zuzana (advisor)
The Bachelor’s thesis is focused on the processes taking place in the firm and their optimization using linear programming. At the first part of thesis the theoretical background, basic concepts and methods are defined, thus become familiar with operational research. Then the current situation and subject of business of the company are analyzed. The analytical section will examine specific situation related to the process in the company, knowledge of linear programming will be applied and we will attempt to find out whether these mathematical discipline can be practically used also in nonmanufacturing company, that is primarily engaged in providing logistics. Finally, the results will be interpreted using the software Maple.
Application of genetic algorithm for production scheduling of engineering company
Stariat, Jiří ; Skočdopolová, Veronika (advisor) ; Zouhar, Jan (referee)
This thesis is engaged in scheduling problem, his special types and methods of solving. Scheduling problem is a common operations research problem, which ranks among combinatorial problems. The aim of the scheduling problem is to assign certain activities and resources to individual time moments. Scheduling problem is NP-complete problem. Its computational complexity is thus so high, that there is currently no known algorithm that precisely solve its any instance in polynomial time. Is therefore used for its solution heuristics and metaheuristcs. In this thesis is described in detail metaheuristics of genetic algorithm. Application of genetic algorithm for production scheduling of specific engineering company is the main objective of this thesis.
Cloud Computing and its influence on the Business Agility
Podlipský, Šimon ; Lorenc, Miroslav (advisor) ; Koliš, Karel (referee)
The thesis focuses on the implementation of Cloud Computing automatization into the firm, on its development and influence on the Business Agility. The thesis shows the application process on LidskáSíla s.r.o., the company with a goal of dominating the market of services in the Czech Republic and possibly abroad as well. The company tries to achieve this aim using Cloud Computing and also using methods of Operations Research, primarily used for processes optimization and decision making. The thesis firstly explains necessary terms concerning Cloud Computing and Operations Research and describes used principles. After that presents the company and its activity, following with examining the implementation of automatization using Cloud Computing and methods of Operational Research. Finally, it comes to a conclusion that using Cloud Computing for process automatization have positive influence on the Business Agility under certain circumstances.
Simulation modelling and optimization in project management
Černý, Vít ; Kuncová, Martina (advisor) ; Borovička, Adam (referee)
In recent years, the project management is very popular tool for management of companies and their processes, and this system is utilized in companies of practically any specialisation. In this diploma paper the principles of the project management are applied on a real construction project, which is one of the most common applications. During project preparation, another two disciplines of the operations research are applied on the precarious parts of the project; namely simulation modelling, and optimization via mathematical programming. Simulation modelling allows the analyst to predict behaviour of the modelled real system without the need for any time or costs to be spent on its observation. In this paper the simulation covers the system of vertical transport during execution of the project. Optimization is meant to set such parameters of any model in order for the watched criteria to reach optimal values. In this paper, the optimization is applied on total budget of the project to minimize the total costs.
Use of operation research methods in sport scheduling
Sopková, Magdaléna ; Jablonský, Josef (advisor) ; Fábry, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the use of operation research methods in sports scheduling. The theoretical part is focused on basic methods of operation research, linear programming and assignment problems are described in greater detail. The thesis presents the principles of sports tournaments and selected optimization softwares in the next part. In the practical part own mathematical models for sport scheduling are introduced. The solution procedure is demonstrated on real life problem of sports scheduling for actual men's basketball season. This example provides the reader with complex concept of solving process of sport scheduling problems.
