The Impacts of Maritime Piracy on International Trade

The diploma thesis analyzes the impacts of maritime piracy on international community. The study analyzes the situation in terms of economic impacts, but also in terms of international cooperation in solving piracy issues. The aim of the diploma thesis is to define most vulnerable locations, quantify economic impacts and evaluate the impacts of military missions in the affected regions, as well as analyze the published recommendations.
The role of maritime transport in international trade focusing on trade between Europe and Asia

The thesis characterizes maritime transport as another part of transport chain and deals with its role in international trade as well as between Asia and Europe. The first chapter deals with basic terms and characteristic of maritime transport, sea vessels and there are also mentioned subjects, who are active in maritime transport. The second chapter devotes to development of seaborne trade and analyses impacts of the global economic crisis on maritime transport and on seaborne trade. The last, third chapter, focuses on seaborne trade between Asia and Europe, mentions important historic landmarks which affected seaborne trade on this route. There are also characterized European and Asian ports and last but not least this chapter focuses on impacts of the economic crisis on Eurasian seaborne trade.

Container shipping from Czech republic to China

The thesis is focused on container shipping from the Czech Republic to China. The volume of import from China to the Czech republic is ten times higher than the export to China, which is reflected in the number of containers shipped on this route. The thesis shows the impact of the trade imbalance on the freight rate and on the level of surcharges. Subsequently, the thesis describes the procedures an exporter has to go through when arranging a shipment. The practical part shows a case of an export operation of fresh rabbit skins to China.

Maritime transport is the world's leading transport industry. Its importance is shown by the fact that over 90% of goods is transported by sea. The aim of the thesis is to analyze present maritime container transport, with a focus on its use in the export operations of the Czech Republic. Firstly, it characterizes the specifics of maritime container transport from a global perspective. It describes the development of containerization and the current situation of maritime container transport market. Subsequently, it analyzes the use of maritime container transport in the Czech Republic and the role of forwarder. Finally, a case shows the process of an export operation from the Czech Republic to Mexico.

All conditions are desribed separately and then all together as intermodal transport. Part of the Thesis is dedicated to business practis in intermodal transport including INCOTERMS.
The position of the Port of Hamburg in the Czech foreign trade

The main aim of the thesis is to define the position of the port of Hamburg in the Czech foreign trade. The first part describes the commodity and territorial structure of foreign trade of the Czech Republic. The second part is focused on transport, its types but especially on sea transport. Here are described the types of vessels, transportation execution, operators in the maritime market, the rules governing relations between the operators and used documents such as bill of lading or Charter Party. There are mentioned relevant international organizations of this market and described the function of the port in international trade. The third section focuses specific on a port of Hamburg, which provides information about the authority, terminals and important facts for year 2011.At the end, there are mentioned relations of the Czech Republic and the Hamburg port, especially the Versailles Treaty and the representation of the port in Prague.

The first part focuses on advantages and disadvantages conected with shipping goods by maritime transport in comparison with other transport sectors. The second part divides sea transport firstly from a commercial perspective on liner and tramp shipping, and then by type of boats. The third part describes the development and interconnectedness of international trade and maritime transport, its commodity and territorial structure. The fourth part deals with the possibility of contractual ensuring of maritime transport, liability of the carrier and conventions which govern this liability. This section also mentions the role of insurance.
