Motives and technologies of Gallic and North African mosaics
Ozaňáková, Patrícia ; Musil, Jiří (advisor) ; Ondřejová, Iva (referee)
In my work I want to raise the question of difference between Gallic and North African mosaics. I want to point out that although they born in Italy, developed, each in a different direction. I intend to find out what mosaicists brought into the repertoire and which, in turn, copied. For some religious motifs want to prove not only their stylistic evolution but a shift in thinking and understanding the deity, who is closely linked with its depiction. This work is dealing with the most common motives of Gallic and North African mosaics and its interpretation. The work is divided into three chapters. The first is handling with technologies connected with mosaics. Second chapter is largest. It offers repertoary of North African mosaics. It divides the most common motives into: religion and mytological motives, huntig scenes and the amphitheatre. The end of the second chapter offers conclusions in this topic. Third chapter is dealing with motives of Gallic mosaics. It is dealed with particular examples of mosaics from context of villa suburbana and liking for luxury and mytological scenes. It is delaing with workshops and craftsmen in Gallia. Fourth chapter is dealing with the situation in Hispania and Sicilia. Conclusion offers the comparison of the Gallic and North African mosaics based on motives.
Technological Development of the Mosaic Craft
Höferová, Jana ; Ottová, Michaela (advisor) ; Kubík, Viktor (referee)
Mosaic has peculiar status in art across thousands of years. Since antiquility when mosaic governed entire Mediterranean, it stood to be an active art expression till nowadays, even despite it's demandigness and costingness - not only abroad but also at our territory. So it went through the period of decrement and "degradation" of it's own technique due to increasing favour of painting in the Renaissance and lived to see it's follow-up boom in 19th century. The thesis marks geografical expansion inlay art from it's roots till the modern age and it's influence on the technique developement. Historical part is more extensive because it has not been documented more detailed so far, which it definately is worthy to be. Thanks to Viktor Foester, the inlay art was reset at the beggining of the 20th century when he and two Italian workers founded a mosaic fitting-room. The fitting-room followed a trend of establishing inlay fitting-room in other states of Europe apart from Italy on the beggining of 18th century. Although the fitting-room died out after Foester's wife death, it gave chance to the origin of Czech mosaic art which persists till nowadays. The second part describes changes in technology of this antique craft across centuries. Technology developement with accent on technical changes in work progress and...
Controlled lighting and shading in smart house
Novák, Michael ; Morávek, Jan (referee) ; Bátora, Branislav (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis is focused on controlling lighting and shading in a smart house. Lighting control covers switching and dimming mechanisms. This thesis presents dimming options for different types of light sources. Following this is an overview of shading devices and system wiring, often called smart wiring. Specifically, the thesis focuses on the Foxtrot system from Teco a.s.. This work describes the sensors and actuators used for switching, dimming and shading control devices. New library of functional blocks for lighting and shading control for Foxtrot system was created, for they were not included in any standard library. All functional blocks that have use in the control of lighting or shading - including standard ones - are described in this work.
Control of intelligent wiring with used SCADA system Reliance
Burián, Michal ; Baxant, Petr (referee) ; Bátora, Branislav (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with systems which are used for supervisory control and data acquisition. The theoretical part concerns with the single systems and their comparison. The practical section describes the designed program for control of smart wiring FOXTROT. The visualization and its remote control were created in this program. The result of practical part is a lab manual.
Proposal for automated assembly tools for production testing of stool screening slats
Gricman, Roman ; Lošák, Petr (referee) ; Kolíbal, Zdeněk (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the development of a testing stool, programming function of a new tools and control panel of the testing stool. It describes a function of tools, design of testing stool, stool components, application created for a control panel, the control system and development environment needed for programming of tools. This stool provides the ability to test the tools, which allows a control of a tool before it's mounted on the machine.
Web Service - Image Mosaics
Beil, Vojtěch ; Žák, Pavel (referee) ; Švub, Miroslav (advisor)
This work describes creating mosaic images -- images that from distace look like another image. It also explores posibility transfering that program as web service.
Visualization and remote control intelligent wiring Foxtrot with DALI interface
Pavlíček, Jiří ; Macháček, Jan (referee) ; Bátora, Branislav (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with intelligent wiring Foxtrot and use in the field of lighting. The theoretical part is comparsion of classical and intelligent wiring. This section provides an overview of the most widely used bus system for building control in our market. Thesis is devoted to the description of the Foxtrot system and development environment mosaic. In the development environment Mosaic is designed program for lighting control DALI interface. WebMaker enabled program visualization and his remote contorol. The result of practical part is a lab manual.
Mosaic techniques and their use for a second grade of primary school
ČÍŽKOVÁ, Barbora
The main topic for this theoretic-practical thesis is mosaic and its techniques. The main goal in the theoretical part of the thesis is to introduce the readers with this technique and its issues. The thesis deals with mosaic in general, from understanding the definitions which are necessary to clarify the issue, over the techniques, history, but also suggestions and the overall evolution of this craft/art/creation. The history of mosaic occupies the largest part of the thesis. Neglected is neither the Czech mosaic and its development. The whole one chapter is dedicated to this theme. A part of the theoretical chapter is a brief summary of the use of mosaics at schools. The practical part of the thesis will be dedicated to authorial creation and a sample lesson using mosaic at elementary school.
Investigation of Optical Properties of Protective Layer for Glass Medieval Mosaic of Last Judgement from St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague
Valach, Jaroslav ; Kocour, Vladimír ; Černý, Miloš
The Mosaic of Last Judgement from St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague is a medieval masterpiece created in late 14th century by Venetian craftsmen. If very dramatic history and various problems encountered are taken into consideration, the current state of preservation is acceptable, perhaps mainly due to systematic effort to protect the valuable item of cultural heritage. The research project, part of which is presented here, also aims on developing effective means for preservation of the precious object. It concentrates on finding formula for creation of protective layer that eliminates influence of chemicals present in air and in water, while being stable itself. The main goal of the investigation is to help in finding the best formula for protective layer that is most stable itself, i.e. which does not represent a future obstacle in viewing the mosaic, e.g. because of losing its transparency.
Crocks of Safari -mosaic images, a diptych
DOULÍKOVÁ, Radka
My graduation thesis is called {\clq}qCrocks of Safari`` and it is divided into two main segments. The First part is theoretical which explains my inspiration, choice of theme and material, method of working - starting with design, ending with final artwork and its installation. It also considers the techniques of mosaic creation. It includes image documentation, which enriches and completes the text. The Second part is practical which includes its own graphic creation. That is two mosaic images made out of combined material {--} ceramics and glass (mirror) inserted into a metal frame. It features graphic structures and elements of an African fauna. It specifically interprets cut outs from herd of zebras and their typical stripes. My goal was to create abstract images where you can feel the character of used material and harmony of natural structures.
