Consistency Checking of Relations Extracted from Text

This bachelor thesis is dedicated to mechanical techniques that are used in the natural language processing and information extraction from particular text. It is approaching the general methods that starting to process the raw text and it continues to the relations extraction from processed language constructs, moreover it provides options for the use of obtained relational data which can be seen for example in the project DBpedia. Another milestone of the described bachelor thesis is the design and implementation of an automated system for extracting information about entities, which do not have their own article on the English version of Wikipedia. Thesis also presents algorithms developed for the extraction of entities with their own name, the verification of the articles ‘existence of the extracted entities and finally the actual extraction of information about individual entities, which can be used during the information consistency checking. In the end, it can be seen the results and suggestions for further development of the created system.
Collocability of German Adjectives in a Bilingual Dictionary

This diploma thesis researchs the collocability of the german adjectives and gives some suggestions for the presentation of the collocability in the microstructure of the adjectival entries in the German-Czech translatory dictionary. The diploma thesis is a secondary product of the project of The Large German-Czech Academic Dictionary which has been realized in the Institute for German studies of the Phaculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague since 2000. The lexicographs use the methods of the corpus linguistics, especially a combination of the concepts corpus-based and corpus-driven. Analogous methods were used in this diploma thesis. By means of the Cooccurrence Data Bank (CCDB) of the Institute for the German language in Mannheim the most frequent cooccurrence partners of an adjectiv were found, concrete dictionary examples were found out in the corpus DeReKo of the IDS Mannheim using COSMAS II or on the Internet using the search engine Google. The dates were saved in a special numerical chart of a data bank which is structured on the basis of word classes. This Bachelor's thesis aims to analyze excerpted sample of neologisms in French related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The theoretical part describes word-formation procedures used in French. The practical part deals with analyses of neologisms excerpted from the Néoveille platform and subsequently examined in the corpus Araneum Francogallicum Novum MMXXI Quadruplex.
Arabisms in the Present-Day French

The thesis Arabisms in the Present-Day French deals with loanwords from the Arabic language in contemporary French. It is divided into theoretical and practical part. The first part defines the concept of Arabisms and describes the issue of borrowing in more detail. It deals with the circumstances of the adoption of Arabisms into French and also with the modification mechanisms for their integration. The second part consists in corpus research, which aims to evaluate the occurrence of French slang expressions of Arabic origin in contemporary French.
Collocability of the most frequent nouns in COVID-19 forum threads - a corpus study

This Bachelor's thesis deals with the collocability of the most frequent nouns used by users in COVID-19 forum threads. Online discussion forums are well-known for the diversity of opinions of its users where every user may have their own specific style of expression, sentence formation, and also vocabulary of often used words. The theoretical part mostly concentrates on the terms "phraseology" and "collocations". Regarding collocations, besides general description a closer look at individual categories and types of collocations is also provided. The ending of the theoretical part concentrates on collocability and its concept. The practical part contains the corpus research of data gathered using a script from a Reddit forum. This data is subjected to analysis and is used in the creation of a corpus with the help of #LancsBox software. Subsequently, a frequency list of nouns is created and a collocational profile for the most frequent nouns is developed. The thesis analyses which collocations most often occur among non-professionals in discussion forums on the current topic of COVID-19 and at what frequency they occur.
Selected Dialectical Phenomena in the DIALEKT Corpus and Their Presentation in Teaching Czech

The topic of this thesis is an analysis of chosen dialectical phenomena in the DIALEKT corpus and the possibilities of its presentation in Czech language lessons at high schools. The theoretical part focuses on the introduction of Czech National Corpus' spoken corpora, mainly on the DIALEKT corpus and its characteristics, however, it pays attention to foreign dialectical corpora and map applications as well. Afterwards, the distinctive phenomena of South Bohemian and West Bohemian dialectical region are described, the analysis of the data in the corpus is focused just on these two regions. The practical part is approached didactically and it consists of exercise suggestions focused on the chosen dialectical phenomena which should serve as a presentation of regional dialectical features. The aim of the thesis is to introduce the DIALEKT corpus and mainly to show, with the help of the exercises, how it could be used in Czech lessons.
Use of the Czech National Corpus in teaching the Czech language

The diploma thesis is focused on the use of the Czech National Corpus in the teaching of the Czech language at a grammar school, especially at lower-secondary school. The work is divided into theoretical and research part. The purpose of the theoretical part is to define a basic overview of the didactics of the Czech language, corpus linguistics, the Czech National Corpus and lexicology. The empirical part describes creation of a worksheet focused on lexicology, especially phraseology. It also summarizes the results of student work. Data from the written corpus KonText and WaG were used to create the worksheet.
Doublets in the Present-Day French

The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to describe the phenomenon of doublets in the Present-Day French. The work is divided into two parts - the theoretical and the experimental. The first part aims to describe the evolution of French language in diachronic approach as well as to explain the term doublet and its division. The experimental part consists of analysing the use of selected doublets in linguistic corpus over centuries.
Word-formation processes used by players of online games in writing

The content of the bachelor thesis consists of the analysis of word-formation processes used in Internet communication. The bachelor thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part focuses on word-formation processes used in English with an emphasis on shortening and abbreviation, as these two processes are being the most often used in Internet communication. Furthermore, the thesis briefly describes the environment of the game World of Warcraft and the communication of its players. The practical part is based on a corpus of data obtained from the game channel called "world chat", where the majority of players' communication takes place. The corpus itself is created using the LancsBox software, which is used to compile a list of the most frequent words used by players, for which their word-formation process is determined. The research aims to compile a ranking of the most frequently used word-formation processes by players.
A lexico-semantic analysis of phrasal verbs in English and their Czech equivalents/Lexiko-sémantická analýza frázových sloves v angličtině a jejich české ekvivalenty

This Bachelor thesis deals with phrasal verbs and their Czech equivalents. The theoretical part focuses on the basic word-formation processes in English and Czech language with more attention on the process of verbal affixation. Phrasal verbs are then described in detail and how the literature approaches this phenomenon. In the practical part, corpus-based research of the most frequent phrasal verbs is practised. Then the analysis of the data follows. Czech equivalents are assigned for each of the findings and it is evaluated how the results correspond with each other. In the final part of the thesis, a new approach to phrasal verbs is proposed as a new possible method of dealing with these units or even as a new teaching method.
