What can be built in the largest city block in Brno?
Tůmová, Helena ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Pelčák, Petr (advisor)
The chosen locality of the diploma project is situated in the centre of Brno, on the edge of the historical part of the city. It borders on the main green belt and the biggest city park Lužánky. The analyzed block is unique because of its oversize and its composition. However, objects in a courtyard contrasts to the representative town houses on the perimeter. They appear very unordered; it is not possible to walk through this part of the city. The secondary functions, like storages and on-ground parking, are located there. The greenness is not maintained. The objects split the courtyard into not specified and separated spaces, which are even complicated by sloping topography. Nowadays the block makes a barrier in the city structure. The main values of the courtyard are its location, size and calm atmosphere. The potential of the site is possible to use for a proposal of a high-quality dwelling complex. The proposed structure is designed on a linear base, it correspondents to the shape of the chosen site. It creates also public and semiprivate open spaces, which can serve for the new inhabitants. The simple look of the new structure seems to be in harmony with the existing buildings. Even more, the open character of the proposal cultivates the entire block and improves the city structure.
City Library of Přerov
Domkář, Milan ; Nový, Alois (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The newbuild library is situated close to the bank of the river Bečva in the historical part of the town. The library is a place to save the values of knowledge, culture and the era itself. It should be strong and durable. It should last for centuries and saveguard its fragile content. However, it should also be an open place for people because information itself is worthless without the human mind to interact with. The contrast of openness and seclusion is expressed not only by shape of the structure but also its facade. The whole building is center-oriented – to the central hall, which is surrounded by books. Secluded volume of the hall is accessed via opening to the library's foreground.
The Compact urban structure in the Czech Republic
Sobotková, Pavla ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The theme of this thesis is the design of a new urban structure that fits into the context of its surroundings. The area is located in the centre of Moravský Krumlov. It is a historical part of the town with a castle and a castle park, located in the meander of the Rokytná River. At the end of the Second World War it was largely bombed out and subsequently rebuilt. The main problem is the adjacent industrial area, low density of buildings and non-functioning public spaces. In the design I focused on creating a new development structure on the site of the current industrial area, completing the existing historic development and creating new functional public spaces.

Genius loci and the new urban structure
Kozubíková, Aneta ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The topic of the thesis is a design of a new urban structure fitting to its context. The area is located in historical centre of city Trebic in district Starecka. It is defined by borders of streets Sucheniova, Hasskova and Viteslava Nezvala. Most of the historical structure were demolished during the sanitation in 80‘. Now the area is very open. That is unusual for historical centre. It has good development potential to build a new location with elements of modern life. Most of the area is taken by a bus station, parking and busy street. In my design I tried to return this area to pedestrians and adapt the public space to it. Karl square and surroundings has good civic amenities. It was important to not compete with functional layout and complete it to one unit. Design of the urban structure and public space is based on location of historical development. A part of the thesis is area Polanka which has similar features as part Starecka. This part is designed only as a vision.
The GAP in Brno
Hobzová, Petra ; Jourová, Drahoslava (referee) ; Palaščák, Michal (advisor)
The subject of my bachelor's thesis is the design of a multifunctional building in a selected gap in the center of Brno in Jezuitská Street. The main idea was to create a multifunctional house that will be suitably designed into a cramped and deep gap and will combine several functional units. It is primarily civic amenities with services, administrative functions and mostly student housing. On the ground floor there is a shop and a cafe. In my work I deal with the material connection to the surrounding buildings of the place and I respect it. In the cramped narrow gap, which has a given area, it was necessary to divide the building plot into 2 masses due to sufficient sun exposure of all spaces. The main mass, which closes the street line on Jezuitská Street and the second, which closes the gap in the park of Danuše Muzikářová. In the central part there is a smaller courtyard with vertical communication with a singlearm staircase and a barrier-free solution - an elevator. The horizontal communication consists of balconies, which connect the two materials on each floor and from them there are accesses to individual apartments and offices. In the proposed multifunctional building, there is a passage from Jezuitská Street through the courtyard with greenery to Danuše Muzikářová Park on the ground floor.
The GAP in Brno
Bartoňková, Markéta ; Hýlová, Adéla (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The undeveloped gap directly invites its completion, the closure of the block. Due to the nature of its surroundings, the newly created building will fulfil the function of housing. It will provide new apartments and a unique atmosphere for its new residents. As it is located on a distinctive street, so the proposed house will follow this conceptual idea. It will not become invader or an intruder. The house becomes a new personality with respect for the elderly and pure romantic soul within.

The Brownfields solutions within the Czech Republic - Tepna Nachod
Froňková, Dominika ; Řehák, Filip (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The thesis deals with the design of the area after the former brownfield of Tepna Náchod. The aim of the thesis is activate the territory, to revive the city center and to design the buildings in connection with the historical center and the chateau with a suitable functional structure, responding to the city's shortcomings. The proposal respects the character of the place trying to prefer pedestrian and cycling – pedestrian zones, cycling zones. The concept is based on the maximum use of built-up areas in the designed area and on the permeability of the entire area, the interconnection of three squares and the creation of a new public space. Furthermore, the concept responds to the historical city center and the chateau hill - views, perspective axes. Newly designed buildings are residential buildings with active parterres, administrative building for research and development, multi-purpose hall, retirement home, kindergarten, federal house and parking house. The new development clearly defines the street network. Part of the design is the planting of a park under the chateau hill with the revival of the trough of the Plhovsky´s stream.
