Synantropní flóra v okolí Brněnské přehrady

This bachelor thesis deals with the synanthropic flora located in the surroundings of the Brno Reservoir, which is situated on the northwestern outskirts of Brno. This thesis provides an insight into the findings of plants occurring in the studied area based on literature excerpts and data taken from major botanical databases. The thesis also includes a floristic survey, whose results will be added into the database of a project aimed at mapping of the Brno flora. The territory was defined by two squares of network mapping (6765CAa, 6765CAc). The total number of found plant species, whose occurrence has not been confirmed in this territory yet, was 306. The occurrence of Snowdrop Anemone (Anemone sylvestris), White Helleborine (Cephalanthera damasonium) and Burr Chervil (Anthriscus caucalis) can be counted among the most important findings. The results in the form of lists of found plants serve for better knowledge of the flora located at the Brno Reservoir.
Plants as indicators of soil properties

Soil will be more important natural resource in the future, soil is degradation due to organic matter depletion, soil acidification and nutrient leaching, soil erosion, soil sealing is still ongoing. The local vegetation can serve as an estimate of habitat properties, these properties may highlight the ongoing processes in the soil. The ability of plants to indicate soil properties are described in a variety of species. The first part of this work is a review of literature which is dealing with plant indicators and the practical part is to evaluate the tightness of the relationship between selected soil properties and their values derived on the basis of the indicator species composition in two selected river basins. Carboniferous flora of the Czech part of the Upper Silesian Basin and its stratigraphic importance

This thesis provides an overview of the Carboniferous flora in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian Basin and its applications in stratigraphy. The sediments of the Upper Silesian Basin with wetland carboniferous vegetation were deposited for about 10 million years. During this period, the floristic character was varying. According to the associations of species we can divide the filling into the stratigraphical units. The basin includes lycopodiophytes, horsetails, ferns, fern-like plants, cordaites, and ginkophytes. The filling began by the Ostrava formation with paralic basin flora with the leading species Sphenopteris adiantoides. Coal seams alternate with non-coal facies with culm flora. Thanks to the paleogeographic changes and marine transgression, the floristic associations changed. Sk. f. h. Enny is the major borderline between middle and upper floristic zones of the lower Namur, in which culm flora disappeared. After the hiatus, Karvinská formation with the important seam Prokop sediments. The formation is characterized by middle Namurian to the Lower Westphalian plants, without non-coal sections. The Upper Namurian plants are located in the sedlové and sušské layers. In the lower sušské layers the biostratigraphical interface of Namur/Westphal is indicated by Lyginopteris hoeninghausii....
Selected localities of Prague for teaching biology and geology

This bachelor thesis is focused on the most important Prague locations that are suitable for biological and geological excursion. Very important is practical teaching biology and geology. It is desirable that students understand the processes of ancient geological history, that they have seen with their own eyes preserved fossils and that they know how plants and animals which are integral part of teaching biology look like. In this point of view the theoretical teaching in the classrooms is insufficient. In the work is included biological and geological characteristics of selected sites aimed at their geologicla formation, rock, fossils, plants and animals that are found there. Itinerary for each excursion should be designed. There are links to worksheets made by methodical portal RVP which are the part of my work. Short introduction of teaching biology and geology in foreign countries and their access to excursion is presented as well. This thesis was designed for teachers of biology and geology to make preparations of their own excursions easier.
Peat bog - an important habitat in the CHKO Třeboňsko protected area

This batchelor thesis is focused on peatlands - important biotop (ecosystem) in the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area. The aim of the thesis is to collect didactic information which will be used by visitors of the protected area, mainly pupils, for environmental education. In the theoretical part the information about the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area are reviewed, like geology, hydrology, fauna and flora. Then the information about peatlands, their history, development, human use and its importance for the landscape and nature are included. In didactic part of the thesis, two excursions are suggested: "What is the peatland whispering about" and "Lets go to the peatland". These excursions include general presentation about peatlands. The excursions are planned for the first and for the second grades of primary school and they also include the worksheets for pupils and teachers and some ecological games. The last didactic material is a programm "Long time ago" for the first grade of primary school and for the institution "Dům přírody" in Třeboň. In this programme two fairy stories are the main topic and they should support sensual feeling of nature.
Gondwanian element of Latin American Flora

The concept of plate tectonics accepted during 20th century fundamentally changed general opinion on the origin of Latin American flora. It was found, that South America formed a part of the ancient continent Gondwana. This continent was covered by a unique flora until 100 million years ago. Actual disjunction of widely distributed tropical taxa present in South America originated after disruption of that original flora distribution. It was deduced that the separation of South America from Gondwana finished about 100 million years ago and led to the isolation of their flora until the formation of the Isthmus of Panama about 3 million years ago. However, recent studies based on molecular clock approaches shows that the exchange of biota between South America and rest of the World was possible several times in different ways before the closure of the Isthmus of Panama. The reevaluation of our opinion about the gondwanan origin of Latin American flora based on advanced molecular analysis is the aim of this work.
Flora of southwestern part of Bohemian Karst

Since its begining in 19th century the floristic research in Bohemian Karst as a biogeographic region was not equivalent in all its parts. I was trying to collect informations about south-western part which is usually somehow overlooked compared to central or north-eastern part. Information include geological and klimatic definitions of the area as well as history of floristic research done here. Several studies we have from this area mention some interesting places with very interesting plant species. Still most of those localities aren't enough protected and are slowly (somewhere not really slowly) getting destroyed. The last part contains ideas and methodics for potential new mapping of flora in this area.
Human impact on creating the landscape

This bachelor thesis focuses on the differences in landscape structure caused by human influence in nature conservation area Czech paradise. It guide us though period from year 1955 until the present. It take into consideration both the previous and current landscape form, as for land area, landscape character, plant and animal association and abiotic factors. Bachelor work describes particular human influence on forming aspect of this natural heritage. It focuses on forestry and forest cover situation, agriculture and farmland. It does not forget hunting and its related situation of wild animals, fish farming which means purity of water. It will occupies water management and its watercourses modification. Least but not last it concentrates on infrastructure and related development and structural engineering. Attention will be aimed at sewage management, industry and natural raw materials extraction. It has to be mentioned the areas of tourism, mountain climbing and recreation, which should be kept only in marked areas and in accordance with nature conservation. Based on findings from individual areas is possible to compare what an impact did a human being on forming aspect of landscape of Czech paradise from year 1955 until the present. Even for such short time of history, it can be observed large change in landscape character or species association. For the future it will be necessary to reduce intensity of landscape recasting and more focus on conservation of indigenous of this nature heritage.
