Sentencing in criminal procedure
Vacík, Kamil ; Gřivna, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bohuslav, Lukáš (referee)
Sentencing in practice Abstract This rigorosum thesis is dedicated to principles applied during imposing a sentence on natural persons charged with a criminal offense. It focuses on the area of judicial discretion within legal limits for imposing particular sentences. It examines the purpose of sentences, especially with regard to its preventive (educational) as well as repressive function in relation to the offender. The thesis deals with the factors that a judge should take into account when considering the type of sentence and penalty with respect to both the preventive and repressive purpose of the sentence. The purposes are expanded on in the parts concerning imprisonment, financial penalty and expulsion. The thesis consists of eight chapters. The first one provides a general introduction to the principles of imposing sentences and the system of sentences, including the issue of a sentence purpose. In the second chapter, the author examines the application of principles of imposing sentences in relation to one offender. In this part, the author concentrates on cumulative sentences, in particular alternative ones, i.e. those with a predominantly educational function. Likewise, the author considers the effect of this type of sentences on correcting the behaviour of the offender who commits criminal...
Relations between Czechs and Czech Germans and their Development
Sedliský, Filip ; Tvrdík, Milan (advisor) ; Markvartová, Eva (referee)
This Bachelor thesis is focusing on the relationship between the Czechs and Czech Germans. Its main focus is on the development of said relations throughout times. The thesis itself bases it starting point at the beginning of the 19th century. During this time the term national identity is starting to emerge and as a consequence there emerge conflicts between Czechs and Germans living on Bohemian, Moravian and Silesian soil. The text of this thesis is intentionally divided into three main thematic segments. Each of these segments overlap with individual state bodies in which the relationships dynamically evolved. The aim of each segment is to analyse the relationships and their changes during certain time periods in order to compare these individual parts between each other. The main aim of this thesis is to produce a well informed and orderly text to help readers understand the evolutions of the aforementioned relations. The goal is definitely not to evaluate individual conflicts and to determine who was right in them. Objectivity and unbiasednes is one of the primary goals. The sources used to gather information for this thesis are both of German and Czech origin with the goal of combining the data from both sides to end up with a factual recollection of events which transpired. These parameters...

Mrštinová, Andrea ; Emler, David (advisor) ; Šmidrkal, Václav (referee)
The goal of my bachelor thesis "Expulsion of German residents from Poprad after 1944 with the emphasis on exemptions from the expulsion of German residents" is is to provide a view of the circumstances of the displacement of the German population from Poprad and thus to understand the regional history of Poprad in Slovakia. The bachelor thesis is divided into four parts. In the first part I present the geographical and content definition of the theme, like the background in which the German residents lived until 1945. In the second part, I focus on securing the German population in the camps in Poprad, while the subchapter is devoted to the removal of Germans from Poprad itself. In the third part, with using archival documents and literature, I divide German residents into categories of who have been an exempt from expulsion for various reasons, and I describe these reasons. In the fourth part, following the third chapter, I create a typology and briefly summarize the research.

The influence of the expulsion and replacement of Sudeten Germans in Kraslice
Banzl, Marcel ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šmidrkal, Václav (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the effect of the forced expulsion of Germans from the town of Kraslice, and the replacement of the original population with newly arrived colonists from then-Czechoslovakia and other Eastern European countries in the 20th century. The introductory chapters provide historical context by describing Kraslice's history and the town's most prominent cultural and economic characteristics, and describe the process of expulsion in Kraslice. The core of the thesis is dedicated to both the short-term and long-term effects of population replacement. The post-war change in the local economy was mostly driven by the consolidation of pre-existing German businesses into two state-controlled companies, whose continuing function was key to the town's success. This transformation is therefore described with regards to its effects on Kraslice up to the present day. Due to strong anti-German sentiment after WWII, Kraslice's original culture was entirely wiped out (both figuratively and literally, as exemplified by the destruction of historical buildings) and replaced by the state-sanctioned "Slavic" culture, which was in reality a front for communist propaganda. For this reason, this thesis also details the absence of any cultural ties today's Kraslice has to the hundreds of years of...
The German Minority in the Czech Republic and its Thematization in School Teaching, Using the Example of the City of Český Krumlov
FISCHBÖCK, David
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the German minority in the Czech Republic and with how the topic is being presented in schools on the example of the town Český Krumlov. The first, practical part concerns itself not only with the history of the town Český Krumlov from 1918 until present day, but it also describes the joint Czech-German history of the town inhabitants from the time after the first World War until the post-war period. Furthermore, some specific topics like the origin of the name Český Krumlov, the Czech-German culture, the region of the Bohemian Forest or some specific aspects of the expulsion of the German minority from Czechoslovakia are described in standalone chapters. In the second, theoretical part of this thesis, I made a survey on the grammar school Gymnázium Český Krumlov, which was meant to determine how much the students of the graduating classes know about their own history and the history of Český Krumlov. Apart from the historical knowledge, the last part of my survey tried to find out whether the students enjoy learning German and how they view the langue itself. This was done because I find it interesting to show and compare how the German language is viewed by contemporary youth in a formerly exclusively German speaking region.
