Global economic and political influence of Brazil on the global economy

Countries Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa represent under the acronym BRICS a group of rapidly expanding and for the future very promising world economies. Their growing influence on a wide range of areas increases their potential to become major global players in the near future. The main objective of this bachelor thesis is according to the recent development of the global economy outlined in the first chapter and the analysis of current economic and political position of BRICS anchored in the second chapter to assess the outlook on future status of this group and to create an image of the future world order. The base body of work is focused on the largest economy of Latin American region, Brazil. To underline the importance of Brazil on the world stage, the third chapter emphasis on its role in international trade and activity in international organizations.
South Africa's Entry to the BRICS

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare the economy of South Africa with the economies of the BRIC countries and to analyze the main areas of common interest of the group established after South Africa's entry to the BRICS. The text is divided into three chapters. First one provides a brief overview of the development of BRICS, form defining the term BRIC to South Africa's acceptance into this group. Second chapter compares the economic situation in South Africa with the situation of other BRICS member countries, specifically GDP development, fiscal and monetary stability and position in international economic relations. Third chapter analyzes four main areas of cooperation of BRICS, namely the reform of some international institutions, strengthening mutual economic relations, sustainable development issues and maintaining peace and global security.
Úloha suverénnych fondov v medzinárodných investičných aktivitách

The thesis deals with the growing importance of sovereign wealth funds in the international investment activities. It includes the definition of a sovereign fund, the history of the creation, the largest funds as well as the origin of their capital. While sovereign wealth funds have existed for decades, their profile has risen considerably since the credit crisis. Analyzing the potential benefits and risks related with their investments, the thesis further discusses the changing profile of sovereign wealth funds in the world economy. Despite the significant benefits to global capital markets, some governments expressed concerns regarding the political motivation of their investment activity in strategic sectors of other countries. It is obvious that the measures concerning limited transparency of sovereign wealth funds should be adopted at the multilateral level to avoid protectionism.
Valuation of Companies in Emerging Markets

In this thesis the distinctive features and challenges of the company valuation in emerging markets are presented. The valuation approach considered as superior in comparison to other methodologies, the triangulating method, is applied to a company from the emerging market of Brazil, the aircraft manufacturer Embraer. The triangulation valuation approach comprises one primary method, the scenario discounted cash flow valuation, and two secondary approaches, the valuation based on multiples and the valuation with a country-risk built into the cost of capital. At the beginning, the valuation methods prevalent in developed markets are presented. Afterwards, for the emerging markets, the applicability of these approaches from the developed world is assessed. In addition, potentially useful modifications are identified. In advance of the detailed valuation of Embraer, the Brazilian macroeconomic situation and its main financial market, the Bolsa de Valores, Mercadorias & Futuros de Sao Paulo (BOVESPA), will be analyzed.
Position of "BRIC" in the world economy

It contains geopolitical, demographic and macroeconomic analyses of these emerging economies as well as a complex SWOT analysis. The participation in the international trade and the impact of the rapid economic growth of BRIC countries is also being analyzed.

For that reason, the thesis discusses marketing theories as well as a wide range of marketing strategies and tools tailored to local specific cosmetics markets based on executed situation analysis.
