Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau and their Use during Piano Lessons

This thesis deals with the life and work of Johann Kuhnau and focuses mainly on the following categories: 1. The life and work of Johann Kuhnau 2. The work for keyboard musical instruments 3. Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau 4. The use of his sonatas during piano lessons This thesis deals with a biography of Johann Kuhnau and presents his works for keyboard instruments. This is followed by a short chapter about a sonata form, its definition and progression. The third chapter is focuses on the sonatas by Johann Kuhnau, especially on his fourth collection named Biblical Sonatas which are presented here in the context of stories from the Old Testament. The final chapter focuses on the didactic and interpretive knowledge of Kuhnau's sonatas from his third and fourth collections for keyboard instruments. The aim of the work is to introduce Johann Kuhnau to reader, to point out his contribution in the field of music and to present the possibilities of working with his collections for keyboard instruments in teaching the piano at today's art schools. The sin in the czech baroque texts

This bachelor work focuses on the concept of sin in the Baroque period on the basis of literary sources. It takes into account the historical context from the previous Renaissance to the coming Enlightenment. It asks questions about the perception and assessment of the theological norm.It is based on published sources, especially Baroque prose and poetry, homiletic texts, shopkeeper´s songs, but also material sources. The main subject of research consists in the interpretation of the sin apperaring in the sources which reflect the contemporary world of thought, The conclusion reveals how seriously sin was taken in the Baroque (pious) times by people and to what extent the paradigm of sin was influenced by nascent civil society.
Citrus in still life (theoretical-practical thesis)

Citrus in still life This bachelor´s thesis deals with the images of citruses in a still-life. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the treatise of the still-life phenomenon and the analyzing the symbolic importance of citruses at different time period. Also studies and compares interpretations of fruit still-life paintings of selected authors. This thesis presents painters like Girolamo dai Libri, Caravaggio, Willem Kalf, Pieter Claesz, Gustav Courbet, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh and more. There are introduced contemporary creations of domestic painters such as Jan Mikulka or Hynek Martinec. The practical part mainly includes the preparatory sketches, paintings and two final large-format paintings.
Baroque nobleman under the protection of five stars

This bachelor thesis deals with the relationship of Adam Franz of Schwarzenberg towards the saint John of Nepomuk. Its main focus lies particularly on the role of the saint in the nobleman's mentality and how it influenced his expressions of piety. It puts emphasis on the form of the Schwarzenberg domain under the influence of the Nepomucean cult. The author analyses the causes and consequences of Schwarzenberg's intimate relationship towards the mentioned saint, which was fully demonstrated during the festivity of the saint's canonisation, to which the author gave a thorough attention. This bachelor thesis doesn't focus only at a concrete noble individual but tries to capture the collective mentality of the baroque man, shaped especially by his religious experiences.
History of Římov pilgrimage site

The thesis describes the history of the foundation of pilgrimage site Římov in southern Bohemia in the 17th century that could be build thanks to a donation of the local farm to the Jesuit College in Krumlov. The most significant proponents were a Capuchin monk Alex and a Jesuit lay brother John Gurre. The area consists of a chapel built in close resemblance to the Italian model of Holy House in Loreto and a Way of Sorrows designed as a copy of the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem. The work shows the significance of sacred architecture in the life of Christians in the 17th century. The role of fraternities and Marian spirituality in traditional piety of Catholics of that period is also mentioned. Based on the regular annual reports sent by every Jesuit College, unusual events accompanying the first decades of the shrine as well as the economic issues of the Jesuit residence are described.
Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Stará Boleslav as an inspirational source for the creation of a set of drawings

Bachelor's work is in theoretical-practical form. The theoretical part provides not only an insight into the history of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Stará Boleslav, but also an emphasis is placed on placing the building in the context of the Baroque age and also an analysis of the church on the architectural side. Also in the theoretical section there is no mention of the Palladium země České, whose history is also devoted to several pages. The practical part presents a visual interpretation of the genius loci of the N.P.M. church, which is projected into a set of drawings.
Graphics from the height and the depth - Vaclav Hollar - personality of Czech Graphic

This bachelor thesis has two parts - the theoretical part focuses on the personality of Václav Hollar, his life, work and also abroad work. It also devotes itself to graphic gravure printing techniques with respect to a dry needle, and as a counterpart to the printing techniques from a height - linocut. The practical part is an example of using the knowledge about graphic techniques in practice. This section contains four cycles of author's drawings on plant motifs using classical and experimental techniques in gravure printing and linocut. The basic material for the matrix is titanium zinc and linoleum. The choice of techniques is based on the study for the theoretical part of the thesis. Two matrices are the default, which are further elaborated. The preparatory-drawing documentation and the original prints are presented in a total of fourteen.
The Iconography of St. Francis during the 17th and the 18th Century

The diploma thesis deals with the iconography of selected works of St. Francis in the 17th and 18th centuries in Bohemia. The work is focused mainly on the paintings that were created and were associated with the development of begging orders during the Reformation of the Church. The first part is devoted to the life and legend of St. Francis, which is the basis for the subsequent processing of individual images. An integral part of the work is also the topic of the origin and development of the begging orders that caused the depiction of St. Francis. Specifically, Franciscans, Minorites and Capuchins. An important chapter is also the piety of the Czech lands in the Baroque period, which demonstrates the revival of the veneration of St. Francis during the 17th and 18th centuries in Bohemia. All the above-mentioned parts provide the basis for the following chapters on specific illustrations. The iconography of the individual scenes is first described in a general depiction, including the world's most important examples. A large part of the work is devoted to individual works associated with the Czech environment. The most represented depictions are Stigmatization of St. Francis, Ecstasy, The Porciunculus Miracle or his Death. Last but not least, the work will focus on the monastery lunette cycles...
Josef Winterhalder jr. - Illusive altars, Dačice-Jemnice-Běhařovice-Trstěnice

This bachelor thesis deals with the work of painter Josef Winterhalder Jr. with a focus on creation of illusive altars. Places with these altars were selected with regard to two criteria, namely, the church is not convent and the fresco was not created in collaboration with another painter. These churches are sv. Vavřince in Dačice, sv. Víta in Jemnice, Nejsvětější trojice in Běhařovice and Povýšení sv. Kříže in Třeštice. Based on the iconographic and formal analysis, the fresco altar work of the author will be evaluated in the historical context of the location. Anotation: The goal of this theses is an analysis of Czech edition of Kryštof's Fischer Knihy hospodářské from 1706, which was originally writen in Latin between 1679-1683. Kryštof Fischer was an administrator of Jesuit's agricultural property in Litoměřicko. The book consists of two parts. The first part concerns work on fields, ponds, breweries, gardens, orchards, vineyards, forests and farming. The second part describes agricultural administration and includes a calendar with a list of work recommendations. The theses is also focused on aspect of language and comparison between Latin, German and Czech edition.
