The suicidal patient from the point of view of a paramedic
KREJČÍ, Anna
This bachelor thesis on the topic: ''The suicidal patient from the point of view of a paramedic'' consists of two parts: first part is theoretical, the second part presents conducted research. The content of the theoretical part is an introduction to suicidal issues, namely the characteristics of suicide, an introduction to history and possible causes of suicidal behavior with a special focus on depression or schizophrenia, possible symptoms of suicidal behavior, suicide stages and types of execution, distribution of suicide by age, communication with a suicide patient and the work of medical rescue service at the scene of a suicidal patient's event. For the research section several aims were set. The first aim is to map what knowledge rescuers have on the suicide issues of their patients. Based on this aim, two research question is formulated as follows: ''How are suicide issues perceived and managed by rescuers in the pre-hospital emergency care?'' Second research question asks: ''What specifities does rerequire solving suicide issues druing pre-hospital emergency care provided by rescuers?'' In other to obtain the necessary data, a method of qualitative research was selected and conducted, consisting of semi-structured interviews with eight medical rescuers, of which four were professionally active at the South Bohemian Health Rescue Service, namely from the regional centres of České Budějovice, Jindřichův Hradec, Písek and four other medical rescuers professionally operating in the Vysočina region, specifically from Humpolec and Pelhřimov. Respondents answered a total of 20 questions, which were then divided into 10 categories. Research has confirmed existence of basic education standard about the problem of suicide, and that it is sufficient for proper conduct of the profession of medical rescue. However, there are some shortcomings in the education of rescuers who deals with a suicidal patient. As this is a very important knowledge gap, I consider it necessary to supplement education about the care of suicide patient.
The role of the nurse in endocrinology
HEDÁNKOVÁ, Kamila
Endocrinological ambulance is a specialized professional workplace, which pursues diagnosis and treatment of endocrine glands diseases. Endocrinological ambulance is used by children, men and women of any age. The goal of this bachelor thesis was to map the nurse's work load at the endocrinological ambulance. A research question, which asks: "What particularities exist in the work load of an endocrinological ambulance?" was determined in connection with this goal. The empirical part was compiled through the method of a qualitative research survey, in which the data were collected using the technique of semi-structured interviews. The interviews with six nurses working at endocrinological ambulances took place based on eighteen questions prepared in advance. Because of some respondents' disapproval concerning dictation machine recording, manual transcription was used during the implementation of interviews with three of the nurses. Another three respondents carried out the interview over email due to the impossibility of meeting caused by a great distance. The research survey's condition was an assurance of preserving respondents' anonymity. We found out that the work load of nurses working in this kind of ambulance consists not only of the proper running of the ambulance, nursing activities and administrative activities, but also of covering certain roles and partaking on education. The education of nurses at endocrinological ambulances is mediated through professional seminars, publications or nurses search additional information on the Internet. Most often, stress arises in response to an increased number of patients, phone calls or the physicians' bad temper. The most usual manifestations of stress are weariness and nervousness. Two conclusions ensue, a negative and a positive one. Within the positive finding we can state that nurses of endocrinological ambulances provide sufficient nursing activity, they manage to assume multiple roles and are adequately educated. The negative conclusion concerns an unsatisfactory transmission of information to patients during the time pressure. Next there is the cause of stress, which can lead to a situation when the quality and professional nursing care is not secured.
Teaching of the topics "Protection of human beings for common risks and emergencies" at elementary and secondary schools
BERKOVEC, Jiří
This diploma thesis deals with the topics of "protection of human beings for current risks and incidents", which are part of the individual subjects taught in primary and secondary schools. These topics are currently a very important component of primary and secondary education. Pupils or students need to improve their knowledge of these issues related to the protection of the population. In case of these emergencies, pupils or students are required to show responsible behavior, to be able to orientate themselves in the given situation, to help the affected people and to call the rescue forces to the site. Teachers at elementary and secondary schools who have education in the field of population protection and pass on information to pupils or students using teaching aids and aids. I asked the individual teachers about the subjects they are teaching. Themes are integrated into many subjects, such as education for health, man and the world of work, man and his world, civic education, but also primary education at elementary school, natural science or biology, chemistry or physics. Framework education programs for primary and secondary schools include topics related to the protection of the population. At the school level, they present school education programs issued by the individual school heads, and according to these programs, the education is carried out at individual schools.

Readiness acute inpatient care providers to receive the bulk admission of disabled people during an emergency
JOHÁNEK, Jakub
The theoretical part is focused on mass accidents involving persons with impairment. Within individual chapters I focused on providers of acute care, as well as on the providers of emergency medical services because those two institutes work closely together in the case of emergency event and contribute together on the solution of consequences. In chapter of basic terms I have mentioned the key terminology in accordance with actual legislation and I have outlined the importance of emergency preparedness in health care. Hereafter I have tried to give a brief overview of the approach of emergency medical services and solutions on site. The summary also included the possibility of sorting of people with impairment. Main topic is a discussion of the subsequent connection between emergency medical services and providers of acute care as well as the actual method of mass income of persons with impairment to a medical facility. The aim of the thesis was to plot preparedness the providers of acute care for a possible mass income of disabled persons, which included existence of preliminary measures, methods, preparation and realization of tactical (or auditing) exercise of organizations etc. The second aim of the thesis was focused on the evaluation of the current state of preparedness of acute inpatient care at mass income of disabled people, reflecting the effectiveness of the adopted precautions. This was mainly mapping clarity of the theoretical background in the cases of emergencies involving high amount of disabled persons from the perspective of an ordinary medical personnel performing their profession in the emergency department. Above-mentioned department serves as contact point of a hospital when an extraordinary event occurs, and its staff is naturally predetermined to act as first choice solution. The research also focused on the medical staff knowledge of approaches to dealing with emergencies and its participation in the auditing and tactical exercises. Qualitative research was used in order to achieve defined goals. Semi structured interviews with emergency department paramedics were used. The research showed that the preparation of providers of acute care for an extraordinary event with mass disabled persons is organized in cooperation with emergency medical services in terms of auditing or tactical exercises. At least two exercises per year are carried out, which is ideal in accordance with the general principles of participation of medical organizations in exercises of the Integrated Rescue System. The results refer to the fact that the participation of medical personnel in seminars should be mandatory and human resources management should take in mind in order to prevent non-uniform level of preparedness of medical staff in case of accident involving persons with impairment. The research also shows that knowledgebase - regarding those emergencies; of medical personnel is insufficient and therefore education at least theoretical level should be done. Acquired knowledge can be used for emergency department personnel but can also be used by other departments participating on emergencies that can involve persons with impairment. Employees could draw mainly from theoretical knowledge in the form of self-education.
Knowledge of secondary school students in first aid in the region of Pribram
MARKOVÁ, Iveta
This thesis deals with the knowledge of high school students in providing first aid in the Příbram region. Providing first aid to the injured and saving their lives or health is a legal and moral obligation of all of us. There are many incidents that can cause serious or light injury. We should know the possible dangers, know how to act, and be able to provide first aid both to ourselves, to our closest, but to others as well. It is therefore necessary that the public is sufficiently educated in first aid so as to be able to respond adequately. In the Czech Republic it is necessary to include the subject of first aid into the school curriculum. Currently, however, neither teacher training in first aid is conceptually solved though the current legislation and related regulations generally prescribe training in first aid as an obligation for schools. Yet there are no specific standards or recommendations. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the topic of first aid, with the high school educational system and the education of teachers. Subsequently, we present the integrated rescue system, basic first aid terminology, sudden severe illnesses and the care for the injured. An integral part of the chapter is a brief description of selected statistical methods. Through basic mathematical operations, descriptive statistics, and the use of tables and graphs, the theoretical part gives an account and summary of large amounts of data. Descriptive statistics is followed by mathematical statistics. It includes a nonparametric and parametric testing. In this thesis we have set the objective of determining the degree of knowledge and skills of Příbram region high school students in providing first aid and of comparing the skills and knowledge of health students and students of different study programs. We have set two hypotheses: H1: "More than 2/3 of all surveyed high school students in Příbram region will score more than 50% of correct answers on the survey," and H2: "health profession students will achieve better results on this survey than students of other disciplines." In order to achieve the defined objectives and to verify the hypotheses we have compiled a questionnaire focusing on the area of first aid, carried out a questionnaire survey, and conducted statistical surveys using descriptive and mathematical statistics. The questionnaire consisted of closed questions. Three questions were of generally informative character and twenty questions focused particularly on the problems of first aid. There were four response options to the questions focused on first aid, only one of which was correct. By a random selection we picked out four out of fourteen secondary schools and the High School of Nursing and College of Health Příbram, hereinafter SZŠ. The project involved 295 students, a total of 154 girls and 141 boys, specifically 147 SZŠ students and 148 students from other high schools. The selective statistical sample consisted of 100 students of SZŠ and 100 students from other high schools. The questionnaire survey covered the period from March to May 2015. From the survey results it is clear that the surveyed knowledge is slightly above average in SZŠ students and reaches the average level in students of other high schools in Příbram region. The arithmetic average of the SZŠ students was 16 points out of 20 and only 13 of 20 points in students from other high schools. Only 13% of students achieved less than 50% of the correct answers. The results of the survey show that the objectives of the thesis were met and both hypotheses were confirmed. Nonetheless, a question arises: "Are the teachers adequately trained in first aid?" The answer follows from the incorrect answers of students. The results of the survey have been provided to the participating high schools which then could focus on potential problems in the area of first aid and their curriculum.
Communication with the elderly in outpatient settings
JIRSÍKOVÁ, Gabriela
The nurse in your nursing practice more often meets with seniors, and they are also imposed on her specific requirements. They should know the biopsychosocial traits senior population and try to respect them. Special attention occupies communication itself, which becomes the basis intercom process. Communication within the nursing profession requires very specific skills, which are then reflected in the quality of the relationship between the nurse and the elderly not only in inpatient settings, but also in outpatient services. The aim was to explore nurses communication with the elderly in outpatient settings and to detect communication barriers by nurses when communicating with seniors on ambulances. Were chosen following research questions: How seniors perceive nurses communicate with them in outpatient settings? What communication barriers occur between the elderly and nurses in the emergency room? For my research was a qualitative metoda.Technikou data collection was semi-structured interview, containing eight basic questions. The research group consisted of 8 respondents - senior citizens. The research objective of this work is that the quality of nursing care in a clinic is inconceivable without a positive approach to older sisters, without good and good communication between the nurse and the elderly without a professional and friendly communication between doctor and nurse.
