Hejrová, Karolína ; Jindra, Matouš (advisor) ; Baláš, Jiří (referee)
Title: Effect of different types of bicycle tires on energy expenditure Objectives: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the difference in energy expenditure when using different types of bicycle tires. Methods: The research group consisted of 5 males in age 26,4 ± 2,2 years. This was an experiment. The calculation of energy expediture was based on the amount of oxygen consumption (VO2) and exhaled carbon dioxide (VCO2), i.e. indirect calorimetry. For the analysis of respiratory gases MetaMax 3B measuring device was used. Three types of bicycle tires were tested. The test ride was carried out in laboratory on the cycling rollers. Probands completed one test ride (with a cadence of 80 rpm) on each type of tires. Test ride lasted on average 4:55 ± 1:50 min. For results were processed values of 4 minutes steady state VO2. Results: We found out the significant difference in energy expenditure between ride with road tires and ride with Fat Bike tires, and also between ride with trekking tires and ride with Fat Bike tires. The difference between ride with road and trekking tires was, due to the standard error of measurement, insignificant. Conclusion: The energy expenditure reached a significant increase while using tires with the largest contact patch compared to using tires with the smallest...

- 6 - Abstract Title: Comparison of performance tests results determined during kayak spiroergometry with achieved kayak paddling performance. Objectives: The aim of the study was to determine relationships between functional parameters values found during kayak spiroergometry and sport performance at 1000 meters distance, and how are these relationships going to change based on training period. Methods: To determine statistical dependence between sport performance at 1000 meters distance and choosen factors of sport performance, the correlation research was used - as a variable-dependent value the final result of sport performance at 1000 meters distance was used, as a variable-independent amounts functional parameters values found during kayak spiroergometry were used. To discover the statistical dependence methods of Pearson's correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used. Results: General level of kayak-athletes from testing file indicated by functional parameters values and demonstrated by kayak spiroergometry performance depends on kayak- athlete's level of sport performance at 1000 meters distance in prepared-training period only, when importance for general condition is emphasized. We did not discover the same phenomenon based on pre-racing period testing results. Sport performance at...
Comparison of two analysers of respiratory gases by paired examination of the same persons
Moravcová, Martina ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Title: Comparison of two analysers of respiratory gases by paired examination of the same persons. Resource: The basic assumption of laboratory measurements is precision of devices. The aim of this study was to determine if the values of spiroergometric parameters measured at the same load on the same subjects by two different devices are comparable. We compared the respiratory gas analyzer Kardiospirox (Junkalor, CR) and Oxycon Delta (Jaeger, Germany). Methods: We studied 11 subjects on both devices on the same day. The intensity and duration of load were chosen to be repeatable in the same quality after a short rest. We measured the basic spiroerometric parameters at rest, during exercise 20W, 50W, 100W and 150W for men and at rest, during exercise 20W, 40W, 80W and 120W for women, always at steady state. For statistical comparison method we used Student's paired T test. Results: Heart rate (HR), oxygen consumption (VO2.kg-1 ), ventilatory equivalent (VE/VO2), breathing frequency (DF), respiratory exchange ratio (RER) did not differ significantly. Pulmonary ventilation (VE) and expired carbon dioxide (VCO2.kg-1 ) were significantly different. The reason could be that the sensor for ventilation of Oxycon works with inhaled and exhaled air while Kardiospirox works with just exhaled air....
