Antimicrobial resistance in clinical isolates of Clostridioides difficile derived from hospitalised patients in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Zíková, Jaroslava ; Krůtová, Marcela (advisor) ; Najmanová, Lucie (referee)
Clostridioides difficile is one of the most common pathogens of healthcare-associated colitis (CDI). However, in recent years there has been an increasing number of reported cases in the community. Causative strain characterization allows us to track the occurrence and spread of certain C. difficile types. To update the current CDI epidemiological situation, between October and November 2021, 342 C. difficile isolates or stool samples from CDI patients for culture were sent from 23 Czech (n=200) and 17 Slovak (n=142) hospitals. All C. difficile isolates were characterized by ribotyping and toxin genes detection. From 342 isolates, 52 different ribotyping profiles were identified. The frequent ribotypes detected were 001, 176, 014, 018 and 020. Genes for toxins A and B were found in all isolates. Genes for binary toxins were detected in 43 (21,5 %) Czech isolates and in 117 (82,4 %) Slovak isolates. Further, selected isolates (n=140, 40,9 %) were subjected to whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and antimicrobial susceptibility testing to 17 antibiotics (E-test). Multilocus sequencing typing determined 30 different sequence types from the 39 included ribotypes. All C. difficile isolates were susceptible to vancomycin, tetracycline, amoxicillin, and meropenem. The most frequently detected antimicrobial...

František Dvořák (1932-1986): photographic ouvre in a context of its time.
HRUŠOVÁ, Helena
In the period from the 1960s to the first half of the 1980s, František Dvořák was known as one of the most inspiring personalities among Czech amateur photographers. Yet today, only minimal attention is paid to his personality and work. That is why this text has been written, with the aim of revealing something more of Dvořák's legacy. In continuation of the bachelor thesis entitled Photographer František Dvořák (1932-1986). Life and Work. it deepens the knowledge gathered so far and tries to place this amateur photographer and his work in the contemporary context of local history and the history of Czechoslovak photography. In doing so, it seeks answers to the questions of what influence the political situation or the photographic tradition and contemporary work in Czechoslovakia had on the form of Dvořák's work. Compared to the previous text, the evaluation of Dvořák's work is based on a wider range of examples of his work, and individual photographs and entire cycles, which were only briefly mentioned so far, are now presented, as well as the lost handmade book Things Dreams Reality from 1973, for which a draft version has recently been found. Using these and other examples of his work, I will try to explain the significance of František Dvořák's work in the context of the times.
Democratic Party's Foreign Policy Voting: A Network Analysis
Mulica, David Robert ; Pondělíček, Jiří (advisor) ; Raška, Francis (referee)
This paper analyzes the voting behavior of Democratic Party members in the 117th Congress. Specifically, it examines roll call votes related to U.S. foreign policy. Namely, it examines votes on funding allocations for the two major policy departments of the executive branch - the Department of State and the Department of Defense, votes on resolutions, and other legislative actions in which Congress has jurisdiction over U.S. foreign policy. More particularly, this study is interested in the voting behavior of members of the so-called "Congressional Progressive Caucus" (CPC), one of the ideological caucuses in the U.S. Congress that has been gaining political strength, especially in recent years. The aim of the study is to show whether the "Progressive Caucus" has developed to be a political force that is already showing tendencies to vote differently from the rest of the Democratic Party, or which specific members of Congress are potentially in positions to mediate between the "CPC" and the rest of the party on foreign policy issues. The study uses the social network analysis methodology to process and project data on the voting patterns of individual members of Congress.
Deployment of Threshold Signatures for Securing Bitcoin Transactions
Tran, Minh ; Dzurenda, Petr
Blockchain technology, especially Bitcoin, has revolutionizedhow we think about and manage financial transactions. However, with the increasing demand and usage of blockchaintechnology, the security of cryptocurrency wallets has become acritical concern. Threshold signatures offer a promising solutionto this problem, allowing multiple parties to sign a transactionwithout revealing their private keys. This article presents an Androidmobile Bitcoin wallet application that uses Schnorr-basedthreshold signatures. The application also deploys smartwatchintegration for enhanced security and usability. This integrationprovides an additional layer of security by requiring physicalconfirmation from the user before approving any transaction. Our implementation provides a secure and efficient platform formanaging Bitcoin assets using threshold signatures while alsoproviding an intuitive and easy-to-use interface for interactingwith the application.
Production of a headlight replica
Hanzelka, Jakub ; Císařová, Michaela (referee) ; Žák, Ladislav (advisor)
The thesis deals with the design of a headlight reflector production. The sheet thickness of DC04 material is 0,6 mm. Various technologies were evaluated, and hydromechanical deep drawing was chosen due to the complexity of the component shape. The semi-finished product will be a circular sheet with a radius of 117 mm, which will be cut out from metal sheets measuring 2500 x 1500 mm. The component will be manufactured in a single drawing operation. The total forming force is calculated 171 kN. Subsequently, a simulation of the drawing process was conducted, confirming the manufacturability of the part. The maximum forming force reached 226,6 kN. The ZH 30 press was chosen, and the tool design was proposed.
Ethics of virtues in the profession of paramedic
BRUS, Adam
This bachelor's thesis on the topic of "Ethics of Virtues in the Profession of Paramedic" contains two main parts: theoretical and practical. In this thesis, we focus on virtue ethics, which emphasizes the moral character of the acting individual, and deals with what the character of the person who performs an action should be. The theoretical part explains to the readers the individual concepts, through which they are subsequently able to gain insight into the given issue. This involves defining the so-called theoretical framework. Firstly, ethics as such is explained, what we can imagine under it, and what it deals with. This is followed by various types of ethical theories, through which the readers will get to virtue ethics itself. Then the concept of virtue itself is explained, which is crucial for the readers. Furthermore, there is a mention of Medical Ethics, Bioethics, and Helping Professions. Another topic discussed is the personality of the paramedic. The objectives of this bachelor's thesis were as follows. The first objective was to determine the importance of virtue ethics in the profession of the paramedic. The second objective was to describe which virtues are important in the profession of the paramedic. The final objective was to map the moral awareness of the paramedics in the context of virtue ethics. The practical part contains information that was obtained through semi-structured interviews with ten paramedics. The research was conducted based on a qualitative strategy. The obtained data was processed, analysed and subsequently divided into five categories for a better overview. This bachelor's thesis had three research questions. The first question aimed to determine the level of awareness of the paramedics regarding virtue ethics. From the research, it was found out that the majority of the paramedics were unable to explain the concept of virtue ethics. Their responses were either non-existent or incomplete. The second question examined which virtues the paramedics considered important for performing their profession. With the exception of ZZ 5, all participants were able to list and describe specific virtues that are important in their profession. The last question focused on identifying factors that influence the virtues of the paramedics. The paramedics responded to factors influencing their stated virtues negatively at first and subsequently positively. We didn't receive an answer to the question 'what kind of person should we be,' but we believe that we have successfully achieved the objectives we have set and that the readers can gain insight into the issue at hand and understand the essence and importance of virtues in the profession of a paramedic. The thesis helps to evaluate the significance of virtue ethics in the profession of a paramedic. The thesis will be used in the theoretical preparation of future paramedics in the subject of Ethics in Prehospital Emergency Care. This thesis may inspire all paramedics to think about the ethical dimension of their profession.
