Central Asia in the context of energy security
Laube, Pavel ; Bič, Josef (advisor) ; Kašpar, Václav (referee)
The study works with the paradigm of energy security of supply in the context of three Central Asian republics; Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. It focus on the relations related to gas and oil. The subjects are analyzed from the point of their own energy strategy, institutions' efficiency as well as position in the energy market. The analysis deals with the main external actors; Russia, China and European Union. A great stress is laid on the evolution in gas and oil trading and the energy infrastructure in the region. Problems of relation between energy, security and politics are included. I try to cover the main trends in the gas and oil market and put them in the context of Central Asia. My conclusions limit the popular scheme of russian dominance and stress the growing cooperation with China, in contrast to EU. However, the growing interconnection of the euroasian gas market is also very important.

Holman, David ; Pernica, Petr (advisor) ; Zelený, Lubomír (referee) ; Gros, Ivan (referee)
The doctoral thesis is dedicated to cost estimation analysis of mass and lean logistics system productivity including their comparison. The main focus is on methodology of cost estimation of currently used supply chains. The methodological part encompasses contemporary knowledge of productivity, philosophical background of Logistics and identification of today market conditions emphasizing the importance of knowledge as a competitive advantage. The logistics value and waste are identified as a critical aspect in analysing of productivity of current logistics system. Regarding the scope of today knowledge analysis, experimental questions and hypothesis related to utilisation and measuring efficiency lean logistics principals and tools are defined. Based on the hypothesis verification, new theory and methodology of productivity cost estimation in mass and lean logistics system applicable not only in automotive industry are established. The doctoral thesis reveals new spheres of logistics theory, scientifical research in the area of logistics systems productivity. The case of automotive supply chain supports the utilisation of proposed theory and methodology in practice.

Monetary Policy of FED during the Great Depression

Three essays on public procurement
Skuhrovec, Jiří ; Janda, Karel (advisor) ; Mejstřík, Michal (referee) ; Tóth, István János (referee) ; King, Lawrence (referee)
The core of thesis lays in quantitative analysis of microeconomic data on public procurement and alternative forms of dealing with public money. It consists of three essays with one common attribute: extensive groundwork with data, including overlaps into legal and technical disciplines. The fist essay examines the relationship between transparency of ownership structure and (i) profits of firms winning public procurement contracts and (ii) competition for the contracts and savings of the public authority. It identifies a significant advantage of firms with opaque ownership structure in terms of access to public money. It concludes with a possible explanation of conflict of interest and corruption, which might channel such advantages. The second essay proposes and tests a novel methodology for benchmarking of contracting authorities. The proposed rating measures a deviation from best practice recommendations in the areas of openness, competition and transparency. Indirectly it measures efficiency and corruption potential in public procurement. The pilot results of the methodology are provided and extensively discussed for a group of Czech municipalities. Third essay investigates issue of crowding out effect potentially introduced by EU funds provision. It studies direct budgetary impacts of...

Software for Design of Timetables
Bureš, Jan ; Mlích, Jozef (referee) ; Zemčík, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to design a software for elementary, middle and high schools, which will serve to create alternative timetables for staff substitutions. There are similarly oriented programs, but most schools don't use them. These programs contain many flaws, which are also discussed in this work. Creating substitution schedules is complicated, and a lot of conditions must be taken care of. Checking of all the conditions should be the main advantage of the application. Design and implementation of the application is based on requirements by a school, where substitution timetables are produced manually. Great emphasis is placed on user friendliness and ease of use.

On the basis of comparison is the conclusion reached in a goal for the proposals and recommendations that can improve the efficiency of subsidies for young farmers and aid and for the future performance of the agricultural sector in the country.

Taxonomic trees of fluidic oscillators
Tesař, Václav
Fluidic no-moving-part oscillators generating fluid flow pulsation became recently very popular subject of investigations. The reason is their capability to increase efficiency of various chemical and physical/chemical processes. Also control of flows past bodies is more effective with pulsation. Advantages of fluidic oscillators are lowcost, robustness, long life, no maintenance, and similar factors associated with absence of mechanical moving components. New oscillator principles - as well as old nearly forgotten but now re-discovered ones - are currently developed. Sheer number of possible alternatives makes them difficult to survey. This paper attempts at clarifying the situation by proposing three different approaches.
