Surgical treatment of retraction pocket as a prevention of secondary cholesteatoma
Jakubův, Martin ; Otruba, Lukáš (advisor)
The dissertation deals with acquired (secondary) cholesteatoma. It arises from a retraction pocket. The process is conditioned on tubal dysfunction that leads through secretory otitis media to the development of retraction pocket and then may result in chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma. Cholesteatoma is a pearl shaped formation located in the middle ear cavity with aggressive behavior to surrounding structures. It may lead to serious life-threatening complications. Therefore all measures preceding its formation are important. These measures concern: follow-up of risk patients, appropriate treatment preceding the development of acquired cholesteatoma or therapeutic operation of uncontrollable or problematic retraction pocket, performed as tympanotomy, atticotomy, or atticoantrotomy according to the size and localization of the pocket as a prevention of the formation of cholesteatoma. The dissertation is completed with a group of patients who underwent middle ear surgery at the ENT clinic of FNKV. This group of patients has a high proportion of patients with cleft (44%), often connected with tubal dysfunction and so they represent a risk group and preventive measures are justified.

Gender a aktivismus v českém antiglobalizačním hnutí
Kolářová, Marta
Activism in the Czech anti-globalization movement from a gender perspective is examined. The article focuses on the representation of men and women. The status of men and women and gender divison of labour are investigated. It is argued that there is a gap between the ideology of the movement and the real fulfilment of the ideals from a gender perspective. Women participate less than men, their position is inferior and there is gendered division of activities in the movement

Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology Student: Pavlína Žváková Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Jiří Lamka, Csc. Title of diploma thesis: Parazitostatus of chamois population in Rumburk region and results of its control. The diploma thesis deals with parasite diseases, which create most of the significant health problems of farmed chamois in the area of Rumburk. During three years of observation we made larvoscopic and ovoscopic examination of 192 samples of faeces collected on winter standings of hunting area Studený vrch and 7 eviscerations of dead or hunted chamois. The results of these examinations were evaluated as parasitologically positive in most of the cases. The most frequent small lung worm occurring in chamois in this area is Muellerius capillaris The next part of the diploma thesis deals with evaluation of anthelminthic effectiveness of administered medicaments. We administered albendazole in 2009 and ivermectin in 2011. In 2010 we did not give any medication to chamois but they were cured by medication provided by the Local Hunting Club (Okresní myslivecký spolek). Further work has been focused on comparing the representation of species of parasites living in our chamois with those occurring in the same subspecies of chamois...

Surgical sex conversion
Dohnalová, Lenka ; Šamánková, Marie (advisor) ; Kříž, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to concentrate to inform the comunity with less known problems of nursing the patients with disorders of sexual identification - with transexuality. The persons with this disorder have genetic and somatic equipment belong to one sex, however their sexual identification is orientated to contrary gender. Surgical conversion of sex of transexuals forms oni y one of the aspects by complex approach to this complicated disorder. The decision when the surgery is indicated is up to sexologist and authorized by the committee. The commision decision is based on detailed and prolonged psychological approach to everyone. The observation is pointed at adaptation for new social status a:fter longtime hormonal treatment and follows a:fter operation and o:fficial conversion ofthe gender as well. Phraseologisms in Austrian Journalistic Texts
Blahynková, Veronika ; Zeman, Dalibor (advisor) ; Poimer, Christiane (referee)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is phraseologisms in Austrian journalistic texts. For the purposes of this thesis two dailies Der Standard and Österreich were chosen and the phraseologisms in them were studied for three weeks. However, not all phraseologisms were examined, but only those which appeared in both dailies in columns concerning domestic and international news. The objective is to compare the use of phraseologisms in these newspapers. This study sought to determine, if there are any tendencies to use the same phraseologisms to cover the same subjects or if certain phraseologisms tend to appear in similar columns. Furthermore, the phraseologism were analysed on the basis of the classifications of two prominent German linguists. The classifications are mentioned in the introductory part of the thesis.

Succisa pratensis and impacts of herbivores on individual fitness
Janovský, Zdeněk ; Pergl, Jan (referee) ; Münzbergová, Zuzana (advisor)
Zdeněk Janovský Succisa pratensis and impact of herbivores on individual fitness In this master thesis I tried to examine the impact of three herbivore groups on both short- term and long-term fitness of Succisa pratensis individuals. Concretely I studied these three herbivore groups: (i) folivores; (ii) stalk grazers; and (iii) seed predators. The impact of folivores and stalk grazers was studied in a four-year study on repeatedly censused individually marked S. pratensis plants on six sites. The impact of seed predators was studied in a separate experiment. Stalk grazers and seed predators have a direct negative influence on short-term plant fitness. However, the impacts of stalk grazing were offset by affected plants by means of increased long-term flowering probability. On the other hand folivores have a long-term negative effect on plant reproductive effort despite their short-term positive influence on survival and clonal reproduction. Probable explanation of this observed phenomenon could be due to the influence of folivores on reproductive effort of the plants already in the year of their occurrence. The impact of seed predators is very variable, although higher plants suffered from higher proportion of destroyed seeds. A conceptual model of possible impacts of these three herbivore groups on...

Extensible Collaborative Development Platform
Halaša, Michal ; Hnětynka, Petr (advisor) ; Bureš, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Extensible Collaborative Development Platform Author: Michal Halaša Department / Institute: Katedra distribuovaných a spolehlivých systémů Supervisor of the bachelor thesis: RNDr. Petr Hnětynka Ph.D., S 212, Malostranské nám. 25, Praha Abstract: Currently, there exist a number of collaborative development platforms (also known as "forges"). These platforms offer to developers a set of tools for collaborative development (e.g. VCS tools, bug-tracking tools, mailing-list managers, etc). On the other hand, there exist many standalone tools for bug-tracking, etc. Usually, these standalone tools offer more features to the developers, however they have to be set up and managed separately. The goal of this thesis is to develop a collaborative development platform (forge) that is fully extensible, i.e. it will allow developers to easily add existing tools to it and manage them in a unified way. Keywords: java, forge, extensible, development platform

Immunologic profile of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis
Novosádová, Iva ; Fišerová, Anna (advisor) ; Zajícová, Alena (referee)
5 Anglický abstrakt Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is widely accepted as a murine model of human multiple sclerosis autoimmune disease. Murine EAE is usually actively induced by immunization with a suitable myelin antigen. Following immunization, CD4+ T helper lymphocytes Th1 and Th17 accumulate in the nervous tissue and via the production of cytokines, they mediate an inflammatory reaction and the subsequent destruction of myelin. The main goal of this study was the induction of EAE with clinically observable symptoms and the observation of changes in the counts and phenotypes of cells, mainly NK and T cells. NK cells express a wide range of inhibitory and activation receptors from the C-lectin-like receptor superfamily. The specific ligand of the activating NKR-P1C isoform is still unknown and thus this receptor's involvement in EAE was also observed. Another goal was the use of medication with regard to the disease progress improvement. For the purposes of this study, two inbred murine strains with distinct NKR-P1 surface expression were used - the SJL/J strain (expressing inhibitory NKR-P1B) and C57BL/6 (expression activating NKR-P1C). SJL mice elicited a relapse-remitting of EAE, while C57BL/6 had chronic EAE. Both mouse strains exerted changes in the counts of NK...

Analysis of Older Workers Labour Market in the Czech Republic During the Years 2005-2015
Virtová, Olga ; Krebs, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kotýnková, Magdalena (referee)
Czech Republic, like other European developed countries, has to deal with impacts of population ageing. The number of older people in society grows therefore the drain on workers in productive age is rising. Population ageing causes problems within current setting of the Czech pension system, especially in long-term sustainability of public finance. Hence added involvement of elderly people into working process becomes necessary. The goal of this Masters thesis is to analyse the situation of older workers on Czech labour market between 2005 and 2015 and to find some possible solutions that would increase the employment rate of people before and in retirement age. There are four chapters in the theoretical part that are dealing with population ageing, labour market, specificities of employing older workers and tools used to increase the employment rate. The practical part is focused on demographic situation in the Czech Republic and especially on analysis of the situation of older workers on the Czech labour market in comparison to countries of the European Union. Analysis that was carried out confirms that the overall employment rate of older workers in the Czech Republic is on a good level however there are some areas that need to be improved. For example, option of using part time working contracts is underused as well as the motivation of elderly people to stay economically active. In the last chapter there are possible solutions suggested. These recommendations could strengthen motivation of older workers to stay on labour market and in the same time should motivate employers to employ these workers.

The effect of morphine on expression and distribution of the alpha and beta subunits of trimeric G-proteins in the rat myocardium
Bartoňová, Iveta ; Novotný, Jiří (advisor) ; Roubalová, Lenka (referee)
Morphine is a clinically very important drug from the opioid group that is used for treatment of severe pain because of its strong analgetic effect. Opioid receptors mediating the morphine effect interact with the Gi/o class of trimeric G-proteins. Opioid receptors also occur in heart tissue and morphine can thus potentially exercise its effect on the function of this organ. The major aim of this project was to pursue consequences of long-term treatment with morphine on expression and distribution of selected heterotrimeric G-protein subunits in the rat heart. Potential cardioprotective effects of this drug have also been studied. Laboratory rats of the Wistar strain were treated with morphine (1 mg/kg/day or 10 mg/kg/day) for 10 or 28 days. The control group was treated with saline solution. Prolonged treatment with morphine did not cause any effects on Gs, Gi, Gz, Gq/11, G subunits, but the expression of Go rather decreased. The results of subsequent experiments showed that prolonged administration of high doses of morphine may reduce the area affected by infarction and reduced the frequency of ventricle arrhythmias depending on dose and duration of morphine administration. Key words: morphine, myocardium, opioid receptor, G-protein subunits, infarction.
