Exploitation of Modern Communication Technologies in the Teaching of a Foreign Language

1 Abstract The thesis attempts to track changes that occur in foreign language teaching due to the onset of new technologies and the related use of new methods and forms of teaching. The author deals with the possibilities of using ICT in teaching German language, development of language skills and listening comprehension, based on many years of experience in designing educational online courses, and their application in the teaching of the German language. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the theoretical foundations of eLearning and description of on-line courses, the empirical part is devoted to the study of the effectiveness of these courses. The aim of this research was to determine how the use of ICT is reflected in the students' results and whether the teaching with the ICT support is more, or at least as effective as face-to- face teaching. The first online German language courses at the Faculty of Informatics and Management, University of Hradec Králové already started in 2002. These online courses have been from the beginning primarily meant as supplementary courses, which should serve to streamline the study and home preparation for lessons and to simplify and improve the preparation of students for credits and exam. This thesis concentrates on a design of 3D user interface for interaction with a file system. It presents a short description of 3D user interfaces and techniques used for their design and implementation. It also presents a brief description of libraries which might be used for development of virtual reality applications and a description od device which was used for graphical output and an acquisition of informations about user's head movements.

The piece focuses on the most common elements used in graphics, gameplay, styles and technologies both in history and nowadays. Then it uses them in one single evolving environment. The work is also criticizing some contemporary (and past) trends commonly used in video games.
Communiacation software for terminal clients of a Linux server

The thesis contains a proposal and implementation of an environment convenient for operation of network client applications which use common terminals. It also consists of implemented examples where the way of their usage is presented. The centralized way of communication is the basis. The approach is used also for the possibility of their joining with managing subsystems, i.e. unlimited ways of regulation of systems for real estate management, access to devices, user authority access to access data points to the devices. The environment is based on operation system Linux and database MySQL. Their realization is supposed on a server, in the network environment. This relates also to the overall security policy and this work also focused on social treatment of clients possibilities.
Virtual environment for behavioral analysis of malware

The goal of this bachelor thesis was to propose and implement a virtual environment for behavioral analysis of malware. Specifically with simulated network services. Subsequently was this environment applied to the analysis of several selected malware samples.
Children, youth and use of Facebook

This bachelor´s thesis deals with the attitude of children an teen-agers to a social network called the Facebook. It tries to find out whether children and teen-agers use the Facebook in their free time an whether they realize this risks connected with its using. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a parctical part. In the teoretical part there are defined terms like children, teen-agers, a free time, an internet, cyber-bullying, a virtual world and a virtual reality and the Facebook is not missing, of course. There are also described the risks, that the Facebook can bring with its using. The practical part is occupied by research. The results of the research are an interpretation of spending children´s free on Facebook and of the risks, that can be occured by using the Facebook.
Youth Subculture in the Online Environment

Over the last ten years Internet become substantial information and communication tool for all age and social groups of Society, but it has a specific status among the younger generations. This thesis understands the Internet as a virtual environment which supports the formation of new Youth subcultures and also the communication of currently existing subcultures. Theoretical part defines the basic terms and concepts (Youth, socialization, identity, culture, subculture, and counterculture) which correspond with the orientation in researched environment. The thesis characterizes also virtual environment, computer games and psychosocial aspects of these worlds. The practical part is based on qualitative research study (depth interviews) of the subculture of the on-line computer games players. The data gathered by depth interviews were processed on the basis of the methods of grounded theory.
