Kühn Children's Choir (Prague philharmonic children's choir)

The theoretical part of this MA thesis outlines the history of the Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir, its cooperation with Prague's leading stages, with outstanding Czech and international musical ensembles and conductors, as well as important concerts and appearances at prestigious festivals. It introduces the personalities who have held the position of choirmaster, and it surveys the choir's repertoire and discography. A short chapter is dedicated to the present situation of the choir and its present artistic guidance. The practical part comprises interviews with personalities who are, in various ways, linked with the Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir. A separate chapter is dedicated to a questionnaire which was given to members of the concert section of the choir and which covers the reasons and motivation for entering the choir and remaining there, the musical background in families etc.

Besieged by a Nation of Playwrights Jan Lier Critic and Dramaturge of the National Theatre in Prague The cultural endeavours of the second half of the 19th century and the turn of the 20th century - from which we have inherited more than is immediately apparent - have for the most part already been described. Nevertheless, most of what we know about them comes to us only through selected figures from the realm of politics, literature, or theatre. At the same time, there existed many other individuals who had a significant influence on their time. They may not have been "pillars" of their era - many of which are retroactively constructed by subsequent eras and have often been uncritically conserved to this day. We have thus chosen to take a new look at this era in question through the figure of Jan Lier. Although Lier had been quite popular during his life and held several important positions in society, he was ignored by later historians. This dissertation presents the full range of Lier's activities, which we divide into three parts. The first section (Ecce Homo Jan Lier) describes the author's life from his youth to his literary debut and popular novels, which brought him fame as an author of railway novels and stylistically refined (perhaps excessively so) salon prose that irritated contemporary...
Opera productions in the Kolowrat Theatre - opera in a chamber theatre

This thesis presents the history of opera productions which have been staged by the National Theatre Opera Company in the Kolowrat Theatre during last fifteen years. The author reflects the problems of staging chamber operas in general and, by analysing several productions, she points out certain possibilities of using the chamber space for staging operas.

The thesis Inscenation Principles by director K. H. Hilar in National Theatre from 1921 to 1935 (focusing on cooperation with stage designer Vlastislav Hofman) is about director K. H. Hilar's inscenation principles in position as the boss of National theatre from 1921 to 1935. The aim was to focus on Hilar's work at the National Theatre, as well as its cooperation with the actors, the elements of expressionism and later civilism in his arrangement and last but not least, given his cooperation with the set designer, especially with the architect and artist Hofman. Part of thesis involves a lot of images from Hilar inscenations . Most sources are available in the archives of the National Museum in Terezin, and archives of the National Theatre in Prague. The professional literature is available at the Theatre Institute, also in Prague.

Important was his action in National Theatre and therefore one of the chapters is dedicated to it. Also cannot be missed Fischer' s individual dramatic output and his contributions to period journals, thanks to which he actively shares merits of modern culture creation since the first half of the 20th century.

The thesis is focused on the influence of National Theatre on Czech national emancipation and creation of national identity. In the first chapter I analyze general meaning of national theaters in other countries and process of their development. Later I focus on circumstances of the development of Czech National Theatre. The next chapter concentrates on problems of the construction of the theatre and the meaning of decoration. The third chapter shows significant occasions of 20th century, when National Theatre played important role.
The National Theatre as a Sign of National Identity

The aim of this work is to confirm and verify the national identity of a target group in relation to the consumption of cultural goods referring to the particular example of the National theatre. With the help of a qualitative research conducted through semi-structured personal interviews supplemented by elements of graphic projective techniques, this selected target group (young people from 16 to 35 years old) hereby represents a new meaning of patriotism and attitude towards the National theatre. The results are put into context together with the goal of my investigation and the theoretical bases.

This bachelor thesis is focused on marketing of big theatre scenes, national theatres. The main goal of this thesis is evaluation of marketing mix of selected national theatres from countries with similar historical background and their subsequent comparison. The theoretical part will introduce marketing mix and specifics of theatre marketing. The practical part is focused on concrete marketing mix of Czech National Theatre, Slovak National Theatre and Austrian Burgtheater and their comparison.
