Myasthenia gravis from the perspective of a nurse.

Bachelor thesis deals with the issue of autoimmune disease Myasthenia gravis. It focuses mainly on nursing care from a nurse'spoint of view. Thesis describes diseases, clinical symptoms of Myasthenia gravis, prognosis, treatment and nursing process in patients with Myasthenia gravis. A very important part of my work is the look and role of the nurse. The aim of the work was to find out the nurses' view of Myasthenia gravis. For qualitative survey was chosen using the semi-structured interview method. The research group was made up of nurses from neurological departments of selected hospitals. The method chosen was interrogation and deep interviewing, in the presence of one interviewer per participant. The analysis of the acquired data was carried out using the hand coding method. The results of the bachelor thesis confirmed the necessity of organizing seminars and lectures on Myasthenia gravis, because the interviewed nurses did not have specialized information about the disease. We also recommend that a standard of nursing care for patients with Myasthenia gravis is developed at each department of neurology. A very important part is also the education of patients. Benefits of thesis results in improving nursing care for patients with Myasthenia gravis, based on organized seminars, education and development of standards in the Department of Neurology.
Holistic Medicine as a Phenomenon Now Days Time

This thesis focuses on the comprehensive approach to human health. She attempts to shed more light on this topic, to document current circumstances related to the psychosomatic medicine and the so called holistic medicine, and to clarify the manner of understanding these concepts nowadays. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis constitutes a rough summary of the comprehensive approach to human treatment, a view of fundamental theories of psychosomatic medicine and its current position in the Czech health system. The thesis also includes an outline of applied terms which are connected to the comprehensive approach to human treatment, especially in the specialized literature. The practical part of this diploma thesis monitors the way in which the media use the terms of holistic medicine and psychosomatic medicine. Further, a general understanding of these concepts is demonstrated by the means of a questionnaire survey on a sample of 454 respondents. Moreover, the practical part is completed by interviews with two specialists of the Czech psychosomatic scene. The Development of health policy approach to homeopathy in the early 21st century

Lenka Rabová, Vývoj přístupu zdravotní politiky k homeopatii na počátku 21. století Abstract The research theme of this thesis is the trend of raising disbelief of patients in Czech Republic in scientific medicine. The goal of the thesis is to reflect evolution of the homeopathy status in CZ from 1989 to present and to find causes and factors, for which patients prefers treatment by homeopathy, instead of scientific medicine. For the research, methods of (1) critical discourse analysis (CDA) (2) institutional analysis and (3) semi structured interview. The result: Homeopathy was tolerated between years of 1991-1996 by ČLS JEP. Worldwide studies of homeopathy gradually led to the summary of the assessment findings to the inefficiency of homeopathy. In the last five to ten years we can see strong critical and professional discourse on the national (CLS JEP, CLK Sysifos) and international (HNMRC, FDA) levels, which strongly aims against homeopathy. Selected aspects and patterns of magic mushrooms and LSD use at patients at the psychiatric hospital in Dobřany

Backrounds: Former Czechoslovakia was known for the studies of halucinogens and their use in cure in psychiatric care. In the last couple of years LSD and other halucinogens have been coming to renaissance again. Nowadays researchers are returning to these theories and they are trying to follow these studies. In the Czech Republic according to studies conducted in 2002, 2004 and 2008, there was an increase in the use of all drugs in general population. For example there was an increase of 2.5 times more of use between 2002 and 2008 (from 2.2% to 5.6%). The same increase showed the use of halucinogen mushrooms that were monitored only in 2004 and 2008. Objectives: The main point of the whole research was to map aspects and patterns of the use of magic mushrooms and LSD and monitor the outcome on these patients, also monitor their physical and psychiatric problems. Health care system development from the perspective of citizens

Diploma thesis "Health care system development from the perspective of citizens" deals with the current state of Czech healthcare system, how is perceived by the citizens who are the target population of health policy and the main goal of health system is to improve their health. The main goal of this thesis is to find out, if the current state of Czech healthcare system meets with the requirements of citizens, having regard to the citizen's information and compared with the expectations. Qualitative and quantitative research methods (questionnaire, expert and semi structured interviews) were used to achieve the objectives. Theoretical and empirical part of the thesis is focused on the wider context of the role of citizens in the society and enforcement and respect of their human rights. There is emphasized the participation of citizens on health policy and importance of the human rights related to health in the thesis. Results of the survey show the lack of awareness of the human rights related to health and of news in healthcare that does not allow effective participation on creation and implementation of health policy and fulfillment of the role and responsibilities of the state in enforcement of the public interest. The practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Czech Republic

This Bachelor thesis deals with the description of the situation of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Czech Republic. Therefore it is not based on specialised literature only, but primarily on a questionnaire research and personal interviews with therapists of Chinese Medicine. In order to enhance the validity of the study, the research was conducted between four differently interested groups. The sample of respondents was divided into therapists, physicians, clients of Chinese Medicine and patients of Western Medicine. Another important source of information was the media. The turning point for Chinese Medicine in the Czech Republic is represented in the socio-political revolution in the 1990s. The revolution enabled the development of Chinese Medicine which continues up to the present. This thesis describes the current situation of the field and looks at options for studying Chinese Medicine, public interest in the treatment, and critique from defenders of Western Medicine who wish to preserve and develop only the scientific way of healing. The first part deals with the anatomical and kinesiological context, vertebral diseases, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and the McKenzie method. The special section deals with the research of the effect of this method in the treatment of vertebral disorders. The other goals of this research were to determine the effect of this method to reduce pain and its influence on managing activities of daily living. The researched sample was consisted of patients with back pain, these patients were treated for two months at an outpatient rehabilitation department clinics.
Health information literacy: focusing on patients' information literacy development

This diploma thesis deals with the application of the information literacy concept in the healthcare, focusing on patients' information literacy development. Firstly, the Czech and U. S. model of health care system are briefly introduced with regard to their different impact on patiets' active participation in health care. Subsequently, preconditions for the emergence and development of the concept of health information literacy are described with emphasis on the terminology. The core of the thesis is focused on the description, analysis, and evaluation of selected activities of U. S. professional associations and organisations. The last part is aimed at selection of the appropriate activity for implementation in the Czech context and at the survey in the selected Czech professional libraries, which is oriented at the state of activities for information literacy development and implementation of selected activity.
