Věrná, Jana ; Rašková, Zuzana (referee) ; Kozáková, Zdenka (advisor)
The main goal of this thesis was to study plasma generated by surface discharge and its application in volatile organic compound destruction. Introduction of this thesis deals with the issue of volatile organic compound. The term of volatile organic compound was defined and explained. Summary of the most important sources of volatile organic compound emissions and possible technics for their elimination was presented. This thesis drew attention on negative aspects of volatile organic compounds on human organism and on the whole environment. The problems of surface discharge and its possible application in various branches are known only few years therefore construction of plasma reactor itself was the first independent step of this work. The plasma reactor was consisted of electrode, which was created from the series of metal stripes each other separated by dielectric barrier. On the surface of the electrode, discharge was regulated and distributed. For the reason of technical limits experiment time was limited up to one minute. The experimental part describes reactor for surface discharge and other parts of apparatus in which degradation volatile organic compound was carried out. Nitrogen was used as carrier gas and it was mixed with air before entering into the reactor. Samples of compounds after degradation process were taken from reactor for the subsequent analysis. Analysis of the products proceeded in a gas chromatogram linked to mass spectrometer. The decomposition products were adsorbed in the SPME filaments or in sorption tubes. The decomposition products were analysed also through the mean of Testo 350 M/XL. This apparatus provided the information on the concentration of small molecules such as CO, H2, NO, NO2 and CxHy Hexane, cyclohexane and xylene were used as VOC examples. Analysis of GC-MS showed decomposition products of hexane, cyclohexane and xylene. The decomposition products were especially various alcohols, ketones, aldehydes and benzene compounds. The apparatus Testo 350 M/XL was unable to detect any CxHy, only large quantity of NO2. This thesis was further focused on possible factors which could have an influence on degradation of compounds, for example input power or different flow of oxygen. It was found that increasing power declined the removal efficiency. The maximum removal efficiency was 87 % for degradation of hexane at the lowest input power. Next part of this thesis was focused on diagnostics of plasma generated in the surface discharge form. The optical emission spectroscopy has been chosen as the best method for plasma characterisation. By this method, various important discharge parameters can be determined, e.g. vibration and rotation temperature. The obtained numeric value of rotation temperature was 840±80 K and vibration temperature was 1880±140 K. The obtained results may be used as a fundament for further study of VOC decomposition in surface discharge.
Olfaktorická interakce člověka a dřeva
Shorná, Radka
Theoretical part of this thesis, deals with issues of odor substances found in the interior environment with special focus on solid wood odors and their relationship with VOCs. Although there is no direct impact of odors on human health, they can severely affect physical and mental well-being of the individual and lead to secondary complications and accidents. Subjective evaluation of odor perception is one of the factors that can be decisive when choosing furnishing elements. It is assumed that the human and wood olfactoric interaction could play an important role in marketing strategies of furniture manufacturers and distributors. Therefore, there was also practical part to this project, which deals with subjective odor evaluation of solid wood samples using sensory analysis. Then evaluation of short questionnaires. The obtained data were used to finalize results applicable in practice and useful for further olfactory research. Final part of this thesis deals with possible practical applications of those results, different means of aromatisation and their concrete rendering.
Vliv relativní vzdušné vlhkosti dřevostaveb na kvalitu jejího vnitřního prostředí
Víšek, Pavel
This thesis deals with the quality of the internal environment of wooden buildings, especially the quality of the indoor environment interior loaded VOC emissions. The main goal of this work is to analyze the influence of relative humidity constructions on the quality of the indoor environment in the region Mountains. As assessed buildings were elected four wooden buildings, one of which is a frame structure, the second is half-timbered, and the other two are made with timber construction.Sampling methodology VOC emissions from the interior of the investigation based on the standard DIN EN ISO 16000 1 and 5. Sampling polluted indoor air was performed using a membrane pump Gilian LFS - 113DC, the collected air samples were collected in metal sorption tubes that are filled with TENAX TA sorbent. Indoor Environmental Quality assessed based constructions of wood was monitored during one calendar year, with the influence of the season on emissions of VOC(Fall, Winter, Spring ).Part of this work was to also assess the impact of age of the building and its material composition on the emission of volatile organic compounds assessed based constructions of wood.Detected concentrations of VOCs elected representatives were subsequently compared with the limit concentration by the Ministry of Health Decree No. 6/2003 Coll. , Laying down the health limits of chemical, physical and biological indicators of residential rooms inside certain buildings.

Kalcinované Co(Mg)Al(Mn) prekursory připravené na bázi hydrotalcitů v totální oxidaci VOC
Mikulová, Zuzana ; Balabánová, Jana ; Kovanda, F. ; Bastl, Zdeněk ; Jirátová, Květa
Total oxidation of VOC proceeding in the presence of oxidation catalysts at relatively low reaction temperature (determined by catalysts activity) is an alternative route to eliminace VOC from air. Hydrotalcites could be promising materiál for oxidation catalysts as they lead, after calcination, to mixed oxides. The aim of our study was to reveal the effect of various Mg:Co:Al:Mn hydrotalcite-like compound molar ratio (MII/MIII being 2) on physical-chemical properties of resulting catalysts and thein aktivity in total oxidation of VOC.

Lean Six Sigma for process improvement
Raška, Adam ; Doucek, Petr (advisor) ; Klas, Jan (referee)
Lean Six Sigma is one of the tools organizations use to help their processes run faster and thus maximize their profits. It is a thorough approach that can reveal defects in companies' processes through examining customers' needs and its statistical data Its popularity spreads fast from the early adopters such as General Electric, Toyota or Motorola and many companies are keen to get their hands on it and achieve similar success as above mentioned. Czech companies are not different. There is, however, a tendency to lay it aside based on first time impressions. The most frequent reasons are: complexity, need to make dramatic changes in the company's culture and high initial costs. Main goal of this thesis is to show that Lean Six Sigma does not necessarily have to be a thorough approach. It can also be used as a one-time tool to improve company's processes, just by picking the right parts and combining them in the right order. This thesis describes the most useful tools and also shows how they can be used in the real situation. By aligning them in a row it also creates a framework for Lean Six Sigma implementation projects which can be used repeatedly. One chapter also describes various problems that might occur during the implementation and provides readers with possible solutions to overcome them.
