How can be affected sibling constellations by physical disadvantages taking account of multiple sclerosis
Mačugová, Radka ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Mužáková, Monika (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the research of sibling constellations and other specifics in relation of healthy siblings and physically disadvantaged, particularly for persons with multiple sclerosis, which at the time of the disease for at least some time have not lived in the common household. The research using interviews with respondents is subsequently analyzed from two points of view, both in terms of healthy individuals to disadvantaged and disadvantaged in terms of the healthy. The goal is to specify different views of the both siblings if they are different, which is expected and other peculiarities of their relationship. Then the analysis follows the trends that are present in the relationship of these people. Research will precede acquaintance with issues of multiple sclerosis, especially its potential impact on psychosocial relations and the issue of the relationship between the average healthy adult siblings. The conclusions confirmed details on the specific consistent with the literature, but pronounced tendency in these relationships were not observed, the disease does not significantly affect relationships, which we believe is influenced mainly by the current state of the respondents, who are all stable and mostly take place everyday activities. Morphology of Fascioloides magna life stages and histopathological changes in selected species of definitive hosts
Košťáková, Monika ; Kašný, Martin (advisor) ; Hodová, Iveta (referee)
Fascioloides magna is a trematode originating in North America. It is a significant pathogen, especially in cervids, but it can also infect ruminants kept for agricultural purposes.Adult trematodes are found in the liver tissue of their definitive hosts, where they can survive for a long period of time and produce large quantity of eggs. Those are passed through bile ducts and intestine with feces into the external environment. This thesis is focused on the morphology of individual developmental stages of F. magna. To this date only very limited number of literary resources concerning the topic had been published. Recorded results are compared with literary resources on Fasciola hepatica, a closely related trematode. The morphological characteristics of the individual developmental stages were studied by using histological, electron-miscroscopical and other methods (fluorescent labelling). The thesis also describes pathological changes of the definitive hosts' liver tissue. By means of the stated methods, the thesis expands the existing knowledge on the morphology of F. magna especially of surface structures and the distribution of the senzoric organs, some of which have been described for the very first time. Comparison of Immune System of Newborns and Adults
Dusilová, Adéla ; Zajícová, Alena (referee) ; Hrdý, Jiří (advisor)
In general, it is possible to characterize neonatal immune system (IS) as immature in comparison to adult IS. From a clinical point of view, newborns show an increased susceptibility to infections. Breastfeeding can contribute to the descent incidence of illnesses, because it supplies the intestinal mucosal system with antibodies of the mother`s origin, important nutrients and other immunoregulatory components. Breast milk compensates decreased newborn's capacity to produce immunoglobulins- especially IgA, that concentration reaches adult levels in two years, but even later (to the pubescent period). Other classes of antibodies are found in cord blood only sporadically except IgG, which is transferred transplacentary. Reduced ability of B lymphocytes to produce antibodies is caused by insufficient expression of surface costimulatory signals of Th2 cells. T lymphocytes are not able to react properly to low doses of stimulators (polyclonal activators - phytoid lectins: ConA or PHA), which bind to T cell receptors in complex with CD3 and proliferate in a response to anti-CD3 monoclonal antibodies. Most of the cord blood T lymphocytes display "naive" phenotype CD45RA. During intrauterine development, neonatal IS is in contact with mother IS and because a pro-inflammatory Th1 response could lead to...
Care for Individuals with Down Syndrome in the Central Bohemia Region
POVOLNÁ, Petra
Abstract Care for Individuals with Down Syndrome in the Central Bohemia Region This Diploma Thesis deals with the comparison of the used methods and the results in caring for children and adults diagnosed with Down syndrome in home environment and institutional conditions. A qualitative research was realized using the method of case studies in order to answer the research questions. Data collection was conducted by means of semi-structured interviews and data analysis. The research in families showed that an acceptance of a child with Down syndrome was influenced by several factors. The families were given professional support in many ways and the children were being educated. None of the adults with Down syndrome in the research sample was working in the open labour market, however, they all conducted meaningful activities adequate to their age. In most cases, the parents did not encourage their grown-up children with Down syndrome to become independent. The results of the second part of the research map the situation in institutional facilities. In the past individuals with Down syndrome used to be freed from compulsory school attendance in childhood, whereas at present, children with Down syndrome are being educated in these institutions. Various therapeutic activities are offered for adults, often merely as a means of passing leisure time, rather than as a form of activity appropriate for adults. Persons with Down syndrome do not have many opportunities for the integration into the majority society. For persons with Down syndrome, who are living in an institution, a contact with their family is very important and motivating. The study can be beneficial for parents of a child with Down syndrome. Furthermore it offers suggestions how to improve the support for the families, where a child with Down syndrome is raised, as well as suggestions for improving the quality of the institutional care.
Effect of food on the success of development of selected species of cockroaches.
ŠIŠKOVÁ, Žaneta
The aim of this thesis was to find out whether selected types of food substrates affect the adult´s productivity, the weight of newborn nymphs and laid oothecas and whether changes in adult´s productivity and the weight of nymphs occur due to one source of food during the experiment. In this experiment, the Blaptica dubia, Nauphoeta cinerea and Schelfordella tartara species were used. The reason for selection of those species was their high rate of reproduction, undemanding breeding and a short period of growth. The experiment was conducted in six types of feed substrates. The cockroaches were kept at a room temperature. The scales accurate to 0,2 g were used for the determination of the weight (AVINET). The Blaptica dubia species proved the dependence of its adults´ productivity and nymphs´ weight on the month of observation and the dependence of nymphs´ growth on a feed. The Nauphoeta cinerea species proved the dependence of nymphs´ growth on a feed. The Schelfordella tartara species proved the dependence of its adults´ productivity and oothecas´ weight on a feed and on the month of observation. The results of this thesis could emphasize the importance of the influence of a feed on the life of cockroaches breeded in captivity and help breeders to their better results with regard to the selection of a suitable food.
Motivating Adults to Lifelong Learning
NĚMCOVÁ, Simona
The diploma paper characterizes what motivates adults for lifelong learning. The theoretical part provides you a comprehensive overview about adulthood, lifelong learning of adults, and about motivation itself. First of all, the diploma work defines adulthood , and it focuses on developmental and professional parts of it. Then, it provides you an integrated idea about lifelong learning of adults, it especially focuses on the basic terminology, an overview about lifelong learning, the educational system in ČR and other types/cathegories of lifelong learning. Then, the paper defines motivation, connecting it with Maslow´s theory and assigning it with lifelong learning. It focuses for example on the system of benefits and gains, which is closely connected with lifelong learning. The practical part evaluates quantitative research methods. According to this kind of research technique I used a questionnaire for surveying what adults think about lifelong learning, which form of lifelong learning they prefer, and what motivates them for lifelong learning.
Toxicity of selected substances for spiny-cheek crayfish
MAHOVSKÁ, Ivana
The thesis examined the toxicity of selected compounds for spiny-cheek crayfish (Orconectes limosus) in laboratory conditions. Tested the acute toxicity of the insecticide Diazinon 60 EC and herbicide Roundup Biaktiv. Tests were chosen to juveniles spiny-cheek crayfish (Orconectes limosus), and juvenile and adult specimens of signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus). These species of crayfish have been selected as an easily accessible model organism. Both species of crayfish spreading and in Europe they are unoriginal. Work focused on the observed toxicity of these substances on spiny-cheek crayfish and signal crayfish and the demands on the quality of the environment.
