Association of education with mental illness in Czech population Abstract This master thesis aimed to study the association of education with mental disorders in the Czech population. Data were used from a nationally representative cross-sectional study - the CZEch Mental health Study (CZEMS). Mental disorders were assessed with Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview and divided into four groups - affective, anxiety, substance use and alcohol use. Information about the highest completed education was self-reported by participants during an interview. Binary logistic regresion examined the association of education with mental disorders, group-wise adjusting for sociodemographic, social and health-related characteristics. The analysis was conducted on 3 175 participants (54 % women, median age 49 years). Lower education (primary and vocational) was associated with higher occurrence of mental disorders, this association remained after adjustment for all characteristics. The association was strongest for alcohol use disorders and weakest for anxiety disorders and did not differ by sex. The relationship between education and alcohol use as well as substance use disorders was apparent in particular in younger individuals. BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Author: Johana Zajícová Supervisor: MUDr. Jaroslava Kymplová MBA, Ph.D. Name of the bachelor thesis: Physiotherapy of child cerebral palsy patiens: Subtitle: With focus on quadruparetic type with severe mental disability This bachelor thesis describes cerebral palsy and applicable physiotherapy approaches. It consists of a theoretical and a practical chapter. Both are focused on child patients with severe mental disorder. Theoretical chapter is formed as a background research on cerebral palsy. It discusses it's etiology, pathogenesis, manifestations, rehabilitation and physiotherapy. Characterisation of quadruparetic type with severe mental disorder is delineated in the last section. Practical chapter includes two case reports of immobile patients with quadriparetic type of cerebral palsy and severe mental disorder. It comprises examination and following physiotherapeutic intervention. The results of therapy were green by goniometry. Applied therapeutic methods were soft tissue techniques, passive movements, prolonged stretching and respiratory physiotherapy. The attitudes of public to mentally disabled people

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of Public attitudes towards people with mental disorder. The primary goal of the thesis is to find out what kind of positions the public takes towards people with mental disorder. Beside this main target the thesis replies either the confirmation or the refutation of the given hypotheses. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with the definition and classification of the mental disability, its causes and characteristics of each person with some mental retardation and it involves the attitude and prejudices to the disabled people from the historical point of view. I focus even on the possibilities of care for these people and their leisure time activities, social organizations and civil associations. People of different age groups in the town of Strakonice are addressed in the research part of the thesis. Quantitative research is used to reach the above mentioned goals. Survey is the method used to collect data. Univariate and bivariate analysis was chosen to process the surveys and the gained data are processed in the program IBM SPSS statistics. The results are collected from the questionaire which contains 17 questions, answered by 207 respondents. The first four questions are concerned with the sociodemographic data as sex, age, education and occupation. In the next part of the questionaire there are given some questions, which all the hypotheses are processed from. The result of the thesis is the finding of the public positive attitude towards the mentally disabled people irrespective of their age and sex. The public often meets these people in their daily life and they do not mind the direct contact. The research confirmed the influence of education towards the attitude to the disabled people.
Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Mental Disorders in Psychiatric Hospital

Abstract The topic of bachelor thesis is focused on social rehabilitation in psychiatric hospital for patients with mental disorder. The main goal of the thesis is to find out how social rehabilitation is provided on psychiatric patients. The partial goal is to analyze social rehabilitation limits and options in context of complex care. Research is carried out in Psychiatric Hospital Bohnice and its implementation started in June 2016 and was finished in June 2017. The theoretical part is focused on description of theoretical information about development, course of methods and about forms of social rehabilitation. The practical part consists of process of social rehabilitation in practice. Five women and five men were selected for research, age 30 60 years with different psychotic disorder. The respondents were selected by a purposeful quota selection and qualitative research was selected for practical part. I used case study approach which uses the anamnesis interview, observation, questioning, individual interview and content analysis. The results of the research were processed in ten case studies which contain anamnesis, individual plans and charts of social skills. Then, the individual plans and social skills were final evaluated and patients were evaluated by cognitive assessment. I made diagrams which show the process of social rehabilitation and interventions with patients. I also design a proposal of social rehabilitation after discharge. There is also SWOT analysis to determine the partial goal of the thesis. Research has shown that social rehabilitation in Psychiatric Hospital Bohnice takes place in a comprehensive way based on cooperation of multidisciplinary team and patients are integrated into many therapeutic activities, which are linked. The research also has shown that possibilities of social rehabilitation are great offer of complex therapeutic activites, uniformity, and cohesion of health workers in relation to patients and effort of PNB to make psychiatric care better. Limits of social rehabilitation are: non-cooperating patients, unbalanced medical staff, disparity of information, little financial resources to activities of social rehabilitation in psychiatry. The results of the research can be used for another improvement and expanding of activities of social rehabilitation in psychiatric hospital.
Leisure Activities of Adolescents and Adults with Intellectual Disabilities in the Jindřichův Hradec District

The bachelor thesis aimed at fields of leisure-time activities representing an important part of people with mental disorders. In case of persons with mental disorder it reveals that the offer of leisure-time activities in the Czech Republic is primarily performed through organizations providing social services to that target group. So there arises the question to which level do the persons with mental disorder participate in development of such leisure-time activities. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to reveal the positions of persons with mental disorder regarding the leisure time activities in the Jindřichův Hradec region. A partial aim of the thesis was to find out the factors affecting persons with mental disorder for selection of leisure-time activities. The theoretical part of the thesis aims at development and specification of a mental disorder and current classifications of such disorder. It also specifies the themes that are closely related to leisure-time activities and rights of persons with mental disorder. The practical part of the thesis used the method of quality research, in concrete terms the anchored theory design. Data collection was based on the design selected, which means that it was realized through in-depth and semi-structured interview with persons with mental disorder, using leisure-time activities in the Jindřichův Hradec region. The bachelor thesis presents the positions and opinions of persons with mental disorder regarding the offer of leisure-time activities provided in the Jindřichův Hradec region. Simultaneously, it specifies and describes factors affecting persons with mental disorder for selection of leisure-time activities. The analysis of data obtained from qualitative research showed interesting information. The people with mental disorder pointed out the importance of their options, needs and self-realization. On the basis of those findings, the organizations providing leisure-time activities will have a chance to improve quality or adjust their offers to a specific target group.
Suicidality in CZ as public policy problem and prevention options

Suicide rate is above EU average in Czechia. At the same time, no initiative trying to solve this problem exist. Aim of this thesis is suggest content of suicide prevention policy suitable for Czech environment. Author adopts optics of evidence-based policy approach and in line with this, meta- review (systematic review of systematic reviews; MR) and group discussion were conducted. MR identified 73 potentially effective interventions, 47 (64%) of these were recommended for assessment for Czech context. These interventions were critically reviewed by seven experts and discussion resulted in set of comments and other relevant outputs. Results of MR and group discussion were then put together in relation to broader context and in this sense they represent optimal basis for complex suicide prevention policy in Czechia.
Education for girls with Rett syndrome

The aim of this work is to enable a person to perceive and understand the specific features of behaviour of girls having Rett syndrome and to offer effective options for activities and effort in the process of education. The substance of the collection of suggestions and proposals for actions and activities as well as tools and equipment sorted according to equipment and objects used at a special needs education primary school. Practical advice, recommendations and suggestions are based on theoretical grounds and basis, particular examples or photo documentation. The work is founded on study cases of two girls with Rett syndrome where there are not only the girls' results and evaluations in the educational process described but also the personal stories of their families and different way of dealing with the tough life situations. The work results enable to discover a suitable attitude not only towards the girls but as well to their parents, siblings or classmates. Perception of criminal activities by patients of Ordered protective treatment

Mental disorder and criminal activity is always a current topic because of high promotion of offences in the media which enhances its stigmatization. The aim of the work was mapping of patient's view of his criminal activities. We described criminal proceedings with mentally ill offender and measures of protection. We addressed to chosen aspects of perceiving of criminal activities - motivation, attribution of guilt, self-image and punishment. We described mental disorders in psychiatric protective treatment and their forensic significance. We used the qualitative analysis of semi-structured interview, method called pie of guilt, medical records and forensic expert testimony. The sample consisted of 16 patients of psychiatric protective treatment in Psychiatric hospital Bohnice, Praha, Czech republic. Collected data are various and they account for the heterogenity of research group. The main work result is a support for opinion that not only mental disorder, but also many other factors such as personality, substance abuse or poor impulse control, are responsible for the origin of offence and that patients are conscious of it and they don't interpret it only within the frame of mental disorder. It focuses on the role of spirituality in people with experience of psychosis. In the theoretical part, the problem of drawing the line between pathological and normal spirituality is discussed, stressing the importance of a functional point of view and the need for a dialogic relationship with the ill person. The theoretical part goes on with mapping the potential of spirituality in the recovery process. Spirituality often helps the afflicted to perceive their illness as a meaningful process, making it easier to cope with the illness. At the end of the theoretical part, four alternative or complementary conceptual frameworks are presented. The empirical part consists of a qualitative research of nine subjects (believers with the experience of psychosis). The data collection and analysis is based mainly in the IPA method (interpretative phenomenological analysis).
