Euroscepticism of Dutch and Luxembourgian Political Parties on the Example of their Campaigns against the Adoption of the Treaty Establishing a Constitution for Europe

This thesis entitled "Euroscepticism of Dutch and Luxembourgian Political Parties on the Example of their Campaigns against the Adoption of the Treaty Establishing a Constitution for Europe" compares campaigns of Dutch and Luxembourgian opponents of adoption of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe before the referendum on the adoption of that document in the first half of 2005. This thesis finds out that during the campaign against the adoption of that treaty the Dutch political parties were more active than the Luxembourgian parties and the Dutch Socialist Party and the fraction WildersGroup (which consisted of the only member Geert Wilders) were the most involved in the debate. The second aim of this study is to compare the arguments of the political parties to that treaty, in terms of euroscepticism using Paul Taggart's and Aleks Szczerbiak's theory dividing euroscepticism to hard and soft. The arguments indicating hard euroscepticism were held by Luxembourgian party the Left and two Dutch orthodox protestant parties the ChristianUnion and the Reformed Political Party. Luxembourg in international relations

This thesis deals with the general topic of small states in international relations based on a case study of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The case study analyses the behaviour of Luxembourg as a small state in international relations from 1839 up to 1960s. It concentrates on seven main periods and phases in the history of this small country - membership in the German Customs Union as a member and as a non-member of the German Confederation, the neutralisation of Luxembourg, WWI and the violation of neutrality, membership in the Belgium-Luxembourg economic union, WWII, and the membership in the Benelux Union and the European Communities. The main aim of this thesis is to come to a conclusion, which aspects of the behaviour of Luxembourg can be described as universal behaviour patterns of small states and which aspects were specific only to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Healthy Life Years

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to clarify the concept of Healthy Life Years. This concept is based on summary measures of population health which are able to quantify health. However, the main goal of the thesis is to discover which morbidity scenarios fit the selected countries. The thesis contains analysis of Life Expectancy and Healthy Life Years conducted by the time indexes for newborns and population aged 65 in the Czech Republic. The results of this fit the morbidity compression theory. This analysis is also done for Estonia and Luxemburg, which are representing the best and the worst countries in 28 countries of European Union in Healthy Life Years. Both of these countries fit to the morbidity expansion theory. Moreover, these countries are compared by Better Life Index, which is initiated by Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, which determines that health of the population is influenced by more dimensions of life.

The main emphasis is on the characteristics of the separation of powers in a State election, and the party system. The aim of this work is the presentation of the basic principles of the Luxembourg and of the political system, and their brief evaluation.

Studie hodnotí stav vodní bohatství ČR z hlediska krajinného komplexu z aspektu ekologické stability, vymezuje systémové vztahy krajiny, přírody a hydroekosystémů v závislosti na faktorech, které narušují ekologickou stabilitu krajiny v důsledku změn klimatu. Eliminace důsledků pro a využívání krajiny z hlediska zahraničních poznatků a navrhuje opatření, která by usnadňovala možnost spolupráce veřejného a soukromého sektoru, zajistila spolupráci obyvatelstva při zabezpečování ekologické stability hydroekosystémů a návazně i celého krajinného komplexu. Součástí jsou podklady pro průzkum a vyhodnocení informací z hlediska sociálních aspektů. Obsahuje doporučení pro programové dokumenty MŽP a vyhodnocení dosažených poznatků z hlediska budoucích období.
Beginning of education in Luxembourg

The thesis deals with the beginning of the first schools on the territory of Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and France after the desintegration of the Roman Empire. It describes different types of schools and the education that they were bringing. It focuses also on the historical conditions and describes the main personalities of the period and their influence on the education. It pays a special attention to the extinction of ancient schools after the invasion of barbarian tribes and to the Carolingian Renaissance and its impact on the education. Among monastic schools it points out especially the school in the Echternach abbey, whose high level makes it one of the most important schools of that period in Europe. The thesis describes in detail the content of the education, teaching aids and methods used in this school. Finally the thesis mentions the Ottonian Renaissance and the establishment of medieval universities.

It contains description of the economic characteristics and development of basic macroeconomic indicators of the country in the last decade. The thesis also evaluates the status of Luxembourg in the entire EU-27 based on a comparison of basic macroeconomic indicators. Finally, it sums up history of the European Communities in Luxembourg and subsequently in the European Union. This thesis deals with investments funds in Czech Republich and Luxembourg. The goal is to characterize historical development, and also actual situation of investment funds, to specify the main differences and common features of this investment form in both countries. Furthermore, it analyzes main charakteristics of fund industry in these countries. The last part focuses on potential future development and trend in this segment. Thesis points to advantages of investing financial resources in Luxemburgian investment funds or constitution of the collective investment fund in this region.
