The author s aim has been to find out what methods are adopted to prevent and solve homelessness in Prague, whether the steps taken by the state or other subjects active in the capital provide help to the group of the socially excluded individuals in the process of their reintegration into the society of people with homes. The theoretical part deals with the crisis of the welfare state concept, based on solidarity of the wealthier classes with the socially deprived groups. Homelessness in the Czech republic: Present and future possibilities of reintegration for homeless people
Kostelecká, Karolína ; Prachař, Ondřej (advisor) ; Sunega, Petr (referee)
This Bachelor Thesis is focused on the possibilities of reintegration for homeless people and the government's approach to the homelessness issue. Analysis of the current possibilities of reintegration brings results that support for homeless is provided mainly by non profit-making organizations, eg. Naděje, Nový prostor or Armáda spásy. Homeless people have an opportunity to use the services of shelters. They can achieve earnings as workers in the social firms, community work, or sheltered employment. Based on the comparison of the newly introduced Strategy for Preventing and Tackling Homelessness in the Czech Republic by 2020 with the approach to the homelessness issue in Finland and Canada this thesis recommends especially to target measures to the most affected areas of homelessness and to reassess financing. Comparison of selected countries brings the finding that Canada has the highest proportion of homeless people in the total population and Finland has the largest expenditures on homelessness issue.
Homelessness In Gender Perspective
ROKOSOVÁ, Michaela
Gender is often understood as social sex; it points to the culturally conditioned differences between men and women. An important part of gender is gender characteristics, i.e. typical characteristics attributed to men and women. Gender identity is acquired through the cultural social environment that an individual lives in. It refers to the differences in characteristics and in men's and women's perceptions of various life situations. For the terms 'homeless person' and 'homelessness', there are no exact definitions; nevertheless, many experts strive to capture the essence of this phenomenon. One such definition states that a homeless person is an individual without permanent housing or with no possibility of using a shelter of any kind in the long term. More exact definition can be found in the ETHOS typology, in which the homeless are classified into four categories: rooflessness, houselessness, living in insecure housing, and living in inadequate housing. The aim of my research was to find out the basic differences in men's and women's perceptions of being homeless, especially from the perspective of a career, health and social contexts, relationships to family, social bonds, etc. To meet the aim of the research, three research questions were raised. The first question aimed to find out how men and women became homeless. The second question focused on their current life, asking what aspect of homelessness they consider the most problematic. The third question focused on their future life. The research has shown differences in perceptions, especially for the first question. Women had lived with their families, partners, or friends before losing their homes, and the loss of these people made them homeless. Men, by contrast, had lived alone, and for most of them, the primary cause of losing their homes was the loss of their jobs. This thesis shows that the gender perspective offers an interesting view on the homelessness phenomenon, which could help people working in direct contact with the homeless.

The issues of homelessness
NEDBÁLKOVÁ, Petra
This thesis focuses on the problems of homeless people. In the theoretical part I deal with the most important findings regarding the characteristics of homelessness, the basic problems of that and the social pathological phenomenon. I also thought about the organizations which provide social services for people without shelter. The main substance of the practical part is to define the life events and situations that caused the homelessness and at the same time to show, how these people have to cope in such difficult situations to survive living out in the street. For the research I chose the qualitative method with the help of a manual. There were 12 respondents of adult age who took part in this research and who have experiences of living their life in the street.
