Viktorová, Anna ; Stará, Jana (referee) ; Hejlová, Helena (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with foreign language teaching in the first grade of primary school. The aim of the thesis is to produce an informative material delimitating the situation of early language teaching in the educational documents, discussing the aims of early language teaching and defining the pedagogical and psychological assumptions for language learning in the first grade of primary school. It also specifies the inquiries of the specific age group towards language teaching methods and strategies that should be respected by language teachers of the firstgraders. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the practical teachers` experience regarding language teaching in the first grade and describes the current situation at the Czech primary schools. The outcome of the practical part is "A Collection of ideas and activities for the firstgraders". All the activities included in the collection take into account the specific forms and methods of teaching suitable for this age.

Visualisation of phenomena related to linear programming
Gregor, Jan ; Hladík, Milan (referee) ; Pergel, Martin (advisor)
This thesis introduces design and implementation of scripting language especially focused on visualization of phenomena related to linear programming. We describe a construction of an interpreter and a theory around it. Further we specify what the linear programming is and we show the simplex method. Regarding requierements of manipulation and visualization in vector space of dimension greater than three, there could not be used standard methods, e.g., from computer graphic. That is why there is also a description of modified algorithms used in this cases. Namely projection, transformation and drawing of n-dimensional polyhedron. This thesis also contains examples of scripts showing possibilities of the language and its interpreter.

Communication in language class
Koulová, Ilona ; Šebesta, Karel (advisor) ; Lehečková, Eva (referee)
This master thesis is concerned with an analysis of communication in the classroom, in which the Czech language is being taught as a foreign language. In the first introductory theoretical part of the thesis, the specifics of educational communication are delimited and afterwards expanded to include communication in the foreign language classroom. This part also examines the most genuine principles in foreign language teaching, points at the so-called communicative approach in education, and accents the importance of the concept of interaction in the technique of teaching. The next section of the thesis specifies all requisites related to the system of analysis discussed in the communicative discourse of authors J. McH. Sinclair and R. M. Coulthard from 1975, who divided the discourse into several types of units, the smallest of which was established as the act. From the acts on, the thesis is based on their analysis. It examines the types of acts, their linguistic (eventually para-linguistic realizations), and their modifications with respect to the educational goal of class/activity. Finally, besides the discourse on acts, the thesis is concerned with the question of crossing the target/mother/ mediate language and the influence of these interferences on the negotiation of meaning.

Computational model of continuous speech segmentation process in Czech language
Stehlík, Luděk ; Smolík, Filip (referee) ; Bahbouh, Radvan (referee)
The work discusses questions about the nature of the human mind, the process of language acquisition and the cognitive development in general and presents results of computational modelling of one of the seminal developmentally-psycholinguistic phenomena - segmentation of continuous speech flow on the basis of phonotactic and prosodic cues. In the general part of the work there is at first briefly introduced the philosophical topic of mind-body problem and then there is described intellectual, historical and cognitivelyanthropological background of the computational-representational paradigm which is in the contemporary cognitive science the most prevailing view of the human mind treating the mental life as a kind of computation in the sense of manipulation and transformation of syntactic structures. There are in detail introduced two competing interpretations of this statement in the form of physical symbol system hypothesis and connectionism which differ primarily about the opinion on how far from the level of ordinary thought and concepts we should look for the formal rules specifying mental computation. There are also mentioned two alternative theories in the form of dynamic (or embodied) cognitive science and theory of distributed cognition according to which the nature of intelligence doesn't lie...

Flooding Risk and Ways to Eliminate Its Consequences
Kučera, Michal ; Ducháčková, Eva (advisor)
The first part of the paper focuses on the global warming effects on the extreme weather events frequency. The second part tries to specify the role of the critical institutions managing the flooding risk in the Czech Republic. The following chapters are all aimed at the fundamental questions of the paper: Insurability conditions, position of the individual insurance companies, necessity of the insurers - reinsurers cooperation and alternative risk transfer (ART) methods endeavouring to deepen the capacity of the traditional reinsurance markets.

Crossplatform user interface API for C/C++
Meluzín, Vojtěch ; Dokulil, Jiří (referee) ; Zavoral, Filip (advisor)
The goal of MWindows project is creation of a crossplatform graphical user interface toolkit for C++ language, hence it is designated for performance dependent applications. The toolkit has to hide target platform speci cs, provide superstandard features such as general styling on a plugin basis, automatic control placement, data sharing, language translation etc. Lowlevel characteristics have to guarantee portability even to platforms without internal window system, e.g. 3D graphical modes. Finally there is a need for general platform-independent way to build particular programs with as easy way to access application data (such as images or translation databases) as possible.

Axiological Dimension in Education and Cultivation
Göbelová, Taťána ; Dorotíková, Soňa (advisor) ; Kolář, Zdeněk (referee) ; Demjančuk, Nikolaj (referee)
To bring up and educate any person means to guide him/her to understand basic notions o f what a man can be and what is his/her mission. Such orientation towards being (existence) as an "active a ltern ativ e" implies orientation in constitutive values o f humanity based on which we create our attitude towards the world. My PhD Thesis named "Axiological Dimension in Education and U p b r in g in g " is focused on raising questions and developing arguments in the following area: which values and objectives should become the priority in education and upbringing o f the early 2 1 st century. There is one o f the core documents which tries to specify the above issues, e.g. the Report " Learning is Hidden W e a lth " elaborated by the UNESCO International Com m issio n - the "Education for the 21st c e n tu r y " headed by Jacques Delors. The four basic pillars are "to learn to co g n iz e " , " to learn to act" , "to learn to live to g e th e r " and "to learn to b e" and point out the necessity of philo sophical reflexion. They are linked with the basic philosophical questions postulated by Kant: " What can I k n o w ? " , "What can I do" , "What can I hope f o r? " and "What is a human being like?" Effects of Intensity and Volume on Developing General Endurance in Triathlon
Kovalovský, Jan ; Horčic, Josef (advisor) ; Šeflová, Iva (referee)
Name: KOVALOVSKÝ Jan Title: Effects of Intensity and Volume on Developing General Endurance in Triathlon Keywords: aerobic threshold anaerobic threshold respiratory quotient power equivalent aerobic capacity aerobic max. performance triathlon At present time, high-quality training documentation is a necessary part of the training process. Computed records referring to training load allow to broaden accounting of parameters influencing the training process, and improve the training analysis, which will consequently allow for improving the training load analysis. In this dissertation I tried to point out that power demands ofphysical activities can be used as a specifying indicator ofthe training load in developing long-term endurance in triathlon. In triathlon events I focused on cycling and running. When determining power demands of an activity, physiological values referring to running laboratory tests were used. The power demands were calculated according to Di Prampero. As based on the power demand assessment ofthe given person's activity, training plans with current testing were elaborated. At the end of the two-year training cycle, accounting the effects of power demands on the triathlon training process was evaluated. Supposed contributions: - more accurate training load accounting - better...
