The role and differences of traditional international trade centers

The thesis discusses the differences and the role of the traditional centers of international trade. It is conducted through comparative analysis of the two ports in the open and closed economy - Rotterdam and Alexandria. In the first chapter, that is based on the theoretical and analytical frame, are specified the relevant facts and empirical findings in the field of international trade, centers of the international trade and maritime transport. The second chapter named Characterization and comparison of national economies deeper investigates the environment in which are the selected ports located. Chapter three and four deal with the Rotterdam respectively Alexandria in the detail view consisting of a historical context, profile and description of the port, the commodity structure, current development, future plans, related industrial regions and areas. The last chapter contains a comparison of the Rotterdam and Alexandria, including SWOT analysis.
Specification of Short Sea Shipping and its use as an alternative to truck transportation

The goal of the thesis is to find out wether it's possible to consider short sea shipping as an adequate alternative to trucking. The thesis describes the specifics of Short Sea Shipping and its main maritime route. It also compares the advantages and disadvantages of short sea shipping and truck transportation. Furthermore the thesis assesses their economical aspects and the potential risks associated with these means of transport. The conclusion of the thesis recommends the suitable routes and comes up with other circumstances that should be considered while using Short Sea Shipping as a trucking alternative.
Transportation of products of Česká zbrojovka a.s.

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of international transportation of products traded by Česká zbrojovka a.s., concentrating specifically on air and sea transportation. The main focus is on the transport of products destined for the automotive industry and on the transport of weapons and cartridges. The first theoretical part deals with air and sea transport, transport of dangerous goods and the International Commercial Terms (INCOTERMS). The second practical part examines separate transports of these products. In the end of this practical part are these concrete examined transports compared.
Propose a system of intercontinental freight transport for commodities on specific company

The aim of my bachelor thesis was to propose a system of intercontinental freight transport for chosen commodities on specific company: VOLF. To reach the aim the determination of chosen commodities selected according to the Czech statistical office and company. At the end of each part about the transports from each continent, there is comparison of the kinds of transports among themselves and then the most effective way is chosen. They are compared from time, economic and general viewpoints.

This diploma thesis focuses on documents used in maritime transport, includes insurance problems, contracts, INCOTERMS and transportation of containers. In practical part I firstly theoretically described the process starting with customers demand ending with actual delivery of goods. After theoretical description I applied this process to real cases.
Freight Forwarding for Maritime Shipping in CR

The aim of this thesis is to provide a reader with the most complex information possible about the field of freight forwarding specialized in maritime shipping and about all the processes which take place in this area. This information could serve for a better orientation for trade or manufacturing companies which need to use maritime transportation and which do not have any or have only little experience with it. My aim is also to show, how to communicate with freight forwarding companies and what prices can be expected.
The Impacts of Maritime Piracy on International Trade

The diploma thesis analyzes the impacts of maritime piracy on international community. The study analyzes the situation in terms of economic impacts, but also in terms of international cooperation in solving piracy issues. The aim of the diploma thesis is to define most vulnerable locations, quantify economic impacts and evaluate the impacts of military missions in the affected regions, as well as analyze the published recommendations.
The role of maritime transport in international trade focusing on trade between Europe and Asia

The thesis characterizes maritime transport as another part of transport chain and deals with its role in international trade as well as between Asia and Europe. The first chapter deals with basic terms and characteristic of maritime transport, sea vessels and there are also mentioned subjects, who are active in maritime transport. The second chapter devotes to development of seaborne trade and analyses impacts of the global economic crisis on maritime transport and on seaborne trade. The last, third chapter, focuses on seaborne trade between Asia and Europe, mentions important historic landmarks which affected seaborne trade on this route. There are also characterized European and Asian ports and last but not least this chapter focuses on impacts of the economic crisis on Eurasian seaborne trade.

Container shipping from Czech republic to China

The thesis is focused on container shipping from the Czech Republic to China. The volume of import from China to the Czech republic is ten times higher than the export to China, which is reflected in the number of containers shipped on this route. The thesis shows the impact of the trade imbalance on the freight rate and on the level of surcharges. Subsequently, the thesis describes the procedures an exporter has to go through when arranging a shipment. The practical part shows a case of an export operation of fresh rabbit skins to China.
