The design seeks to fulfill the principles of a citizen-friendly city hall and Vitruvius perfect scale of construction, durability, utility and beauty. A design is clear, beauty can be an application of timeless solution based on the purpose and simplicity of forms. Permanence means a building capability to respond flexibly to changes in the territory, legislation and society. The main architectural motif of the contrast vertical and horizontal. Vertical - a tower that will house the town hall, the dominant element in the area, and therefore represents well the importance of the city hall within the district. This importance is enhanced by the location of the tower on the corner. Calm horizontal volume cultural center follows the street line and thus defines a new public spaces, including a new town hall square. The unifying element of the two buildings is a double facade of white aluminum fins.

THE TOWN HALL BRNO – SEVER The project describes the design of a new town hall in the new proposed urban structure on the site of a dilapidated complex of military barracks in Brno in Cerna Pole. It derives the mass of the town hall from the proposed urban structure in an exposed corner of the area. Subject of my diploma thesis is to design new residential neighborhood on sight currently occupied by Barracks in Brno, Černá Pole. It is little used in the moment and forms spacial barrier in city organism and is slowly detracting. New proposal integrates area into surrounding development and is trying to maximally utilize its positive aspects. On site is not proposed just quiet residential neighborhood, but also city hall, shops, college dorm, primary school and kindergarten, creating a balanced unit communicating with the surrounding area.

TITLE: Formation and evolution of Brno's suburb Černá Pole AUTHOR: Jakub Sluka DEPARTMENT: Department of History and History Didactics SUPERVISOR: Mgr. Dušan Foltýn ABSTRACT: The bachelor thesis deals with origin and development of the residential quarter Černá Pole, namely from the settlement of this area to 1945. Attention is mainly focused on the 20th century. The part regarding Antiquity is primarily based on published researches of various archaelogical digs. The investigation of the period from the 14th to 18th century is grounded in preserved archival materials, especially documents. The gradual expansion of street network and local housing development, with emphasis on a period housing situation, in Brno from the beginning of building development in the 19th century to the end of World War Two is minutely studied by means of map collections, old photos and postcards, period newspapers, and a lot of scholarly books and articles. A particular focus is devoted to some important architectural buildings and interesting events in the history of Černá Pole. The pictorial supplement includes a lot of photos depicting present-day appearance of the quarter. Design of settlement structure of contemporary city in historical context.
Průšková, Kristýna ; Obrtlík,, Jan (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
The assignment for this thesis was to prepare an architectural plan for barracks in Černé Pole in Brno. As part of the assignment, I attempted to rejuvenate and open up the given territory to the town and to its people and to connect it to the surrounding structures. I expanded the territory in question with adjacent panel construction from the north, as one of the objectives was to gradually incorporate this development in a way so that it does not create a barrier. The second objective was to revive two historical barracks buildings and a panel building dormitory, which serve as a reference for the image of the place. The thesis is split into two parts - analysis and proposal. In the proposal I discuss specific materials, transportation and public spaces. Most of the territory is made up of residential spaces with civil and commercial spaces, which together make the entire area functional. In my proposal I try to show how the entire territory can be solved, with the involvement of the historic and panel buildings, and not just building on an empty brownfield.
