Analysis of roundabout design parameters and their impact on accidents.
Novák, Jan ; Karpíšek,, Zdeněk (referee) ; Mahdalová,, Ivana (referee) ; Macur, Jiří (referee) ; Holcner, Petr (advisor)
The dissertation deals with the analysis of roundabout design elements and their impact on accidents. The analysis objective was to identify the important elements of roundabouts that have impact on accidents. In order to achieve this goal, the multifactorial statistical safety assessment method was used on the basis of a representative sample of data, by developing several safety performance functions, verifying them and interpreting the result. Several design elements, which from the point of view of the traffic accident mechanism belong to the infrastructure factor, have been identified: AADT, average diameter, entrance width, entry angle, direct passage angle, location and many others. The original sample contained about 1200 roundabouts, which were reduced to 200 based on data availability. Accident frequencies were monitored between 2009 and 2016, i.e. for eight years, resulting in total 2674 roundabouts accidents. The result is an accident prediction model, developer based on roundabout approach design elements, and map of critical roundabouts, identified based on empirical Bayes estimate of accident frequency. Following approach parameters were identified: AADT, entry angle, distance between collision points, deviation of angles between approaches, presence of apron, presence of bypass, entry type, presence of pedestrian crossing and surrounding area type.
Risk factors for development of schizophrenia
Dunglová, Eva ; Flegr, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kodym, Petr (referee)
Schizophrenia is a severe disease. There is a complicity of genetic and environmental factors in schizophrenia onset. Factors with probable influence on development of schizophrenia are rate of urbanization, geographic location, migration, month of birth, maternal nutrition during pregnancy and birth complications, stress during pregnancy, length of lactation period, prenatal and postnatal infection exposure, exposure to a cat during childhood or cannabis abuse. Until now the information on the environmental risk factors of schizophrenia mentioned above concludes in possibility of existence of one factor which would be determinative in schizophrenia onset. Vitamin D deficiency could be this key factor. Lack of vitamin D in prenatal and postnatal period is linked with most of the environmental risk factor for schizophrenia mentioned above, so they could be just the indicators of vitamin D deficiency. Faults affecting the success of nursery schools management
Kafková, Jana ; Voda, Jan (advisor) ; Trunda, Jiří (referee)
The thesis concerns itself with the identification of common faults in school management with special focus on nursery schools. It compares the findings from literature with personal experience of selected nursery school headmasters. Its main objectives are to define the areas of high risk potential for mistake genesis and to find appropriate recommendations as to how to approach these faults. General perception of the found risk factors, and ways to approach them was subsequently verified in a survey. Lessons drawn from the faults should be perceived positively as a way to success and development. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In practical part six interviews with nursery school headmasters were carried out and more than one hundred and twenty statements in the form of a questionnaire were obtained. A summarizing result of both parts of the thesis is a set of advice for beginner headmasters.
Methods of Risk Aggregation on Financial Markets
Pavlovičová, Jana ; Gapko, Petr (advisor) ; Báťa, Karel (referee)
This diploma thesis "Methods of risk aggregation on financial markets" introduces all kinds of risk that are present on the financial markets. In the first part there are explained the ways and methods of measurement of these risks. Next there are shown the methods of aggregation of credit, market and operational risks. One of these methods are copula functions which are constructed in practical part of this thesis.
Quantitative methods in finance
Zboňáková, Lenka ; Hurt, Jan (advisor) ; Zichová, Jitka (referee)
In the present thesis we deal with the quantitative risk measures estimating the influence of market risk on the investments to the financial instruments. The most commonly used measure is Value at Risk which we introduce with its characteristics and modifications. Applying the methods to real data we deal with the problem of approximation of its distribution, especially in the multidimensional cases when the risk factors are dependent on each other. This leads us to explore copula functions that are in the thesis used to include the dependence structures of the risk factors to calculation of the risk measures. Chosen methods of approximation and evaluation of the risk measures are applied to real data and stated with outputs and their comparison.
The most frequent eye injuries as seen by nurses: prevention, education, risk factors
SCHMIDTOVÁ, Jana
Theoretical background: Eye injuries are a frequent cause of damage or even loss of eyesight. It is said that as many as 90% of all eye injuries may be avoided through appropriate prevention. The bachelor thesis addresses risk factors, prevention and education of patients who suffered an eye injury. Individual parts of the thesis examine a risk age for eye injuries, risk activities and risk factors of the environment. In the area of prevention the thesis describes eye protection equipment and correct first aid procedures to be taken in an eye injury and introduces organizations providing assistance to people with visual handicaps. The chapter about education examines whether nurses educate patients or whether they only forward information to them, and discusses the needs of patients in the education process and the rules of communication with patients who suffered an eye injury. Objectives of the thesis: The practical part of this bachelor thesis was based on three objectives. The first objective was to ascertain what risk factors nurses believe are the most frequent ones that contribute to eye injuries. The second objective was to ascertain what nurses think about the importance of eye injury prevention. The last objective was to ascertain in what the education of a patient who suffered an eye injury consists. Three research questions were set for the above stated objectives. The first research question aims at ascertaining the most frequent risk factors that contribute to eye injuries. The second research question is aimed at prevention, namely at ascertaining what nurses think about the importance of eye injury prevention. The third question is aimed at education, namely in what the education of a patient who suffered an eye injury consists. Methodology: The bachelor thesis uses the form of a qualitative research using a semi-structured interview with general nurses working at eye departments, both outpatient and inpatient ones. Interviews took place in June 2014 in the eye departments of the hospitals Nemocnice České Budějovice, a.s. and Nemocnice Jindřichův Hradec, a.s. The research set consisted of 6 general nurses, some of which work in inpatient departments while the others work in outpatient departments. With the general nurses' consent, the interviews were recorded or the answers were entered in record sheets. The obtained data were categorized into groups which were analysed afterwards. The questions asked in interviews were prepared beforehand, and were supplemented with sub-questions in the course of interviews. The interview was divided into five parts: nurse identification, most frequent eye injuries, risk factors for eye injuries, eye injury prevention, and education of patients suffering an eye injury. Results: The obtained results have revealed that the most frequent risk factors for eye injuries are the age bracket from 20 to 60 years, DIY workroom, forest and work environment. Risk activities, as seen by nurses, are haste, non-observance of occupational health and safety rules, cycling and squash. The main risk factor is failure to use eye protection equipment. According to an overall majority of respondents, prevention of eye injuries is sufficient. Using eye protection equipment is considered as the most efficient prevention method. In the area of education of patients suffering an eye injury it has been ascertained that patients are not educated but only provided with information. Nurses cannot differentiate between educating and informing a patient. Conclusion: The bachelor thesis aims at providing a basic overview of the area of eye injuries. Based on the obtained result, an information material was drawn up for eye department nurses to facilitate education in the area of eye injuries. This material was designed to be provided to patients by nurses. The thesis could also use as feedback for the eye departments that participated in the research.
Analysis of Economic Risk of Investment Project
Malý, Lukáš ; Holá, Michaela (referee) ; Hromádka, Vít (advisor)
This thesis focuses on considering of the investor economic risk during the preparation of the investment project including the financial plan, its evaluation and suggestions of proposals for risk reduction. Correct decisions on implementation or rejection of the project are based on the realistic financial plan. However, expenses and revenues are only implied and are burdened with some variability that leads to the risk of failure to achieve the planned values. To assess the acceptability of certain risks for the investor, an analysis of risk factors was conducted. The factors are first identified for their significance and potential negative impact, then the most risk factors are evaluated and determined whether it is necessary to further tracking or the risk to the investor is acceptable.
Evalution of Economic Efficiency of EPC Projects
Vlčová, Zuzana ; Šourek, Bořivoj (referee) ; Korytárová, Jana (advisor)
The issue of energy saving building is a current topic of today. The increasing costs of operating buildings reduce economic efficiency of the organization operations. A large part of the operating cost is energy cost. An effective tool for improving the energy performance of buildings is an EPC method. The implementation of energy projects through EPC is offered by Energy Services Company. This thesis evaluates the economic efficiency of the project implemented by the EPC and analyses its risk factors. The subject of EPC project is modernisation of an energy sector of a hospital building. The economic efficiency of the project is interpreted on the basis of economic indicators Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return and Profitability Index. There was also performed Monte Carlo simulation supported by Oracle Crystal Ball software within the analysis of risk factors for the project.
Risk factors of atherosclerosis
MRAČKOVÁ, Michala
Atherosclerosis and its risk factors are bases of most cardiovascular diseases (CVD), the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in industrial countries worldwide. Recently many new, independent biomarkers have appearred which could in future serve for increasing predictive value of "classical" risk factors of atherosclerosis. That is why in our bachelor thesis we followed the occurrence of classical risk factors which are used for calculation of the risk of fatal cardiovascular event during next ten years along with several new biomarkers in a group of randomly selected clients of a spa resort Savoy in Karlovy Vary without clinical signs of atherosclerosis. The results show that the most frequent risk factor in this population was hypercholesterolemia and a positive family history of a cardiovascular disease. The study group was divided according to the cardiovascular risk. We found that only 57 % of middle-aged persons belong to a group with the minor to medium risk, i.e. while 43 % of the followed parsons had high or very high risk of CVD. According to our expectation, high percentage of persons with a high cardiovascular risk was among men. The population of women suffered from metabolic syndrome in 35 % while the men´s part of the study group had metabolic syndrome even in 52 %. The final part of the thesis studied some "non-traditional" risk factors of atherosclerosis. In the investigated population the highest percentage showed lipoprotein-associated phospholipase (Lp-PLA2), increased concentration of lipoprotein (a) was less frequent and the lowest incidence was found in the case of small dense LDL. Pathological levels of Lp(a) were more frequent in women while increased Lp-PLA2 was found especially in men. Persons with high CVD risk showed higher concentration of Lp-PLA2, the other two factors did not differ between the two groups with different risk score. Nevertheless, the predictive value of Lp-PLA2 with respect to assessment of CVD risk was very low.
