New technologies for an efficient operation of biogas plants
Uhlířová, Marcela ; Máša, Vítězslav (referee) ; Vondra, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on new technologies enhancing efficient operation of biogas plants. The introductory part describes operation of biogas plant, its products and issues. The main part of the thesis deals with description of three progressive technologies concerning biogas plants such as dry fermentation, hydrothermal pretreatment and biogas upgrading to biomethane. For each technology there is a description, advantages and disadvantages with regard to their practical applicability.

Utilization of biogas in transport
Strnadel, Bronislav ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Vopařil, Jan (advisor)
The subject of this bachelor’s thesis is the utilization of biogas as a fuel for vehicle engines. First of all, methods of production, upgrading and utilization of biogas are explained. Then the situation in the Czech Republic and in Sweden is compared. Next part of the thesis is focused on the vehicles which burn upgraded biogas or natural gas vehicles. Their construc-tion and the function of fuel system are described in detail. The dependence of shape of combustion chamber on engine performance and the issue of protection of valves and their seats are described in this chapter. In the last part, a business case study of utilization of bio-gas from a biogas station is elaborated.

The use of fuels from renewable sources and waste
Pořízek, Vít ; Jecha, David (referee) ; Skryja, Pavel (advisor)
The subject of this thesis are both available and potentional gaseous and liquid biofuels. The thesis deals with their detailed description and comparison. The first part describes the current legislation and the basic types of biofuels. The main part focuses then on biofuels themselves, their characteristics, production, utilization, and their impact on environment. In further parts, emissions created during the cycle of production and distribution of biofuel are characterized. Last part brings comparison of biofuels from different points of view, and recommendation of the alternative ways of production of gaseous and liquid biofuels from renewable resources of energy.

Utilization of biogas in gas distribution system
Frühbauer, Zdeněk ; Niesner, Jakub (referee) ; Dvořák, Radek (advisor)
The thesis deals with the technologies upgrading the biogas to the quality of the natural gas for the following use in the gas distribution system. The main concern of the thesis is the pressure swing adsorption (PSA), which is nowadays one of the most exploited technologies. For a certain flow and composition of the biogas, completely new PSA technology was designed. Technological schema was created and the main technological devices (adsorbers) were drawn up together with the design documentation for this new technology. The important part of the thesis is also the model of the whole PSA technology in the ChemCAD programme and the evaluation of the operating and investment costs.

Perspective bus powertrains
Kubík, Jan ; Maršálek, Ondřej (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to consider possible future development of alternative powertrains with regard to their use in buses. First described are the most promising alternative fuel vehicles, which use an internal combustion engine. The next part is evaluated ways to store energy using electric drives. At the end of the work is mentioned hybrid technology as a combination of previous drives.

Biomethane treatment in European region
Gutovský, Jan ; Houdková, Lucie (referee) ; Niesner, Jakub (advisor)
The main aim of this thesis is to provide information about biomethane production and its use in Europe. The thesis contains a brief description of the production of biomethane and a summary of the basic processing methods. The following section discusses the current utilization of biomethane in selected European countries. It focuses on describing the state of technology and regulations in these states.

Legal and economic aspects of use of CNG and biogas in transportation
Yusupova, Regina ; Štěpánek, Petr (advisor) ; Černý, Pavel (referee)
Use of compressed natural gas (CNG) as an alternative transportation fuel is currently being supported in European Union and Czech Republic as well. Upgraded Biogas (or biomethane) with its chemical characteristics is to be considered as a renewable substitute of CNG so it can be used for the same purposes. Biogas is produced in biogas stations. Current legislation terminates the support of producers of electricity and heat from renewable sources, including biogas stations. The absence of governmental support will endanger their existence. Producing of biomethane and using it in transportation is an alternative option for the owners of biogas stations. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to conduct an economic analysis of biomethane producing costs. On the basis of the results obtained, we will be able to say whether producing od biomethane is reasonable in Czech Republic. Then we will try to establish whether the use of biomethane in transportation is possible according to Czech legislative terms or what possible legislative amendments should be implemented.
