Mikulášek Square Brno
Švéda, Petr ; Fišer, Jiří (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Štěpánek, Ladislav (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis solves one of the buildings of an extensive designed urban area in Mikulášek Square in Starý Lískovec, Brno. The area is spreading between two rows of eight-floor-blocks. Main goal of this project is to preserve the green areas for recreation purposes and to create an urban square that will be used as a public space with all of the community functions. That goal is accomplished by using the green roofs, the buildings, sunken halfway under a surrounding terrain, and by the soil-covered back sides of building. That enables access to the roofs for public; roofs become a part of the park. The organic-shaped urban “double-square” is spanned by a pedestrian bridge for an easier traffic. The main idea of The Cultural Center proposal is based on variability of space. Around the cultural hall, from all four sides, there is a gallery, which enables wider usage (e. g. for an avant-garde theatre performance). A huge multi-level common and an exhibition space are ones of most important spaces. The visitors will be able to have an exhilarating experience of exciting dimension of space. The Cultural Center is connected to surroundings via both floors. That makes it possible to organize some outdoor cultural performances which can easily continue to the interior.

Gregorová, Stanislava ; Teplý, Vladimír (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
The theme of my bachelor’s thesis is to design a new leisure time centre building in Brno Novy Liskovec. The area is a defined space by street Plachty. The building site is situated in the northern part of the area, surrounded by blocks of flats. The principle of the draft is based on integration of the building into the park in the context of the surrounding buildings. The object corresponds with blocks of flats in its shape and material, it adapts to the surrounding terrain by incorporation into the slope. Typical of the whole building are concrete, cube, simplicity – they can be seen at first floor outside, contrary to the ground floor - it builds into the surrounding terrain by a material of wood. The leisure time centre building is functionally divided into parts: a multifunctional hall, rooms for leisure and café. All these operations are closely related and complement each other. Green roof of the building is designed for people, equipped with benches. Together with the adjustment of the surrounding park it contributes to the creation of public space on the estate.

The goal of this project is to design a new cultural and social center in Brno on the Mikulasek Square, Starý Lískovec. The main idea of the project was not only to design a building that would perfectly serve its purpose, but it was also to create a lively enviroment to meet people and to spend the leisure time. It was not required to detract the green areas in this housing estate. So there was a park created on the new building’s roofs. This is how the omitted place got its character and use. There are two buildings designed under the ground level and a bridge that helps the continuity of the park. On the south side in front of the main entrances there is a space with outdoor stage and auditorium followed by a wide ramp that meanders between the two buildings. The ramp was situated to the center of the project in order not to set aside the invalids. In front of the buildings there is also an area called ‚park square‘ which is formed by an irregular grass surfaces and pathes that lead to a various directiones. This space was designed according to an analysis of the people’s movement in this area. There are trees planted and the pathes are lined with long wooden rectangular-shaped benches.

Klíčová slova v anglickém jazyce The bachelor thesis studio project based on public buildings. Entered building site is located between the streets Lerchova and Udolni. This multifunctional building is devided into three functional parts: an administration,a shops and fitness center. The principle of the proposal is dynamic contrast material used on the section with shops and a fitness center with simple materials used in the administrative part of the building.Where dynamic breakdown mass an object refers to the crystal structure, which underscores the choice of material facade (glass). The administrative part of the building has a simpler spatial resolution, which is governed by rectangular lines. This part has been selected ceramic facade facing a dark gray color, to provide a sense of the mineral.
Centre of Culture Brno
Pieleszová, Katarzyna ; Teplý, Vladimír (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Štěpánek, Ladislav (advisor)
The goal of this project is to design a new cultural centre building in the locality Brno-Starý Lískovec, Mikulášovo square. The building site is situated between two separate blocks of flats. The principle of this draft lies in a simple combination of compositional axes. The first axis is the square’s axis of symmetry, the second one represents the distinctive shapes of the built up area from the 60’s and the third one expresses a certain metaphorical axis of the landscape panorama. This connection of lines created material which, after consideration of space requirements of all the workflows and traffic, provided the final shape. The whole object is functionally divided into two parts – the cultural centre itself as the core, and the attached sub-parts. Among the supplemental facilities there are areas dedicated for a cafeteria, a bookshop with artistic theme and an exhibition space. The objective was to create a compact structure which would allow an unlimited movement across those facilities. An important part of the exterior is the façade. The building changes “moods” during the day, the colours and shades change with the sun going down. This idea includes a plan of exterior passage which can guide visitors to the main entrances. The outside areas are designed for relaxation and art.
The Reconstruction, and the Re-use of the St. Thomas Yard in Brno
Janovská, Andrea ; Hrabec,, Josef (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
St. Thomas yard was founded within years 1358-1370 on the street Veveří in the Brno. Its recent location its the same like when it was fouded. Within years 1883-1885 a few new objects were built here in historicist style. New functional sollution is trying to react on the freetime activities demand of students from schools near here. Whole compound is solved as sport-cultural centre. In the current objects there will be clubrooms, in the main building there will be office space. Restaurant in the longer wing will be joined with a bowling in the newly built object. The main architectonic purpose was to keep the natural character of whole area. The most important thing in my proposition was to preserve the structural nature of the objects with the sensitive completion of the compound. That is why I used just simple shapes and all-glass facade, in which the current objects will be mirrored. The area behind these objects would be remade to playground with an intention to keep the natural character of the area with grown trees.
Polyfunction house Křenová
Láníková, Jaroslava ; Boháč, Ivo (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
The multifunctional house is a part of the row of buildings lining the Krenova street. This house closes the whole line of buildings, so all the houses together create a functional unit. This multifunctional building is devided into three functional parts – a museum, an administrative part and flats. The centre of the building is used as a relaxing area – the atrium. The principle of the design is based on a simple line of block materials connecting to each other. In the front of the house, which is facing the Krenova street, will be situated the museum. The front facade is made of black and white tiles and decorated by a glass ashlar. A second glass ashlar is situated on the east side of the building – the administrative part. This east side will be visible from the newly planned town cirquit. The area in between this cirquit and the multifunctional house will be made into park and will use as a place for relaxation. The flats are situated into the quiet part of the street Skorepka
The Reconstruction, and the Re-use of the St. Thomas Yard in Brno
Jelínková, Barbora ; Hrabec,, Josef (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis deals with reconstruction and re-use of listed buildings of St. Thomas Yard in Brno. Good transport connectivity, pleasant surroundings and proximity of several academic buildings have predetermined this area for a new purpose instead of the inappropriate current one – in the future, leisure time centre offering hobby groups, sport activities, study rooms, gallery, café and parking-site should be sited here. Urban concept consists of building block with a park compound. There are three listed buildings with decorated frontals to be preserved, complemented by brand new lightweight low-profile structures. Modern objects situated next to the historical ones are designed to be transparent by means of suspended glassed-in exterior with distinctive sun shading elements on the south facade. Other buildings are specific for their single-pitch vegetative roofs emphasizing peaceful nature of the park.
