UNIVERSAL BASIC OPRESSION
Růžičková, Martina ; Jánoščík,, Václav (referee) ; Sterec, Pavel (advisor)
Master's thesis Polyamory Design Unit (PDU) explores the possibilities of collaboration between experts being active in fine arts, product design, graphic design, architecture and philosophy in order to create a speculative future scenario. Together with Jana Trundova, Simon Barak, Ondrej Mohyla and Lukas Likavcan, I create the concept and the presentation structure for a housing complex, which is designed for polyamoric coexistence of human and non-human entities. Such a coexistence is made possible by full automation of work and global implementation of universal basic income. These initial parameters constitute a big emancipatory potential, that could change present meaning of the concept of polyamory and thus redefine networks of relations in bigger scales too.

The Philosophy of Purposeless Time
Hauser, Michael
The article addresses the issue of leisure in the sense of ancient schole. It strives to uncover the relationship between Aristotelian concept of theoretical activity and schole as vacuity. It shows a paradoxical character of schole as purposeless time that forms condition for a meaningful activity. How, then, to restore schole as vacuity today, when colonization of time expands?

JINDRÁKOVÁ, Edita
This thesis covers the interpretation of life and work of Marc Chagall, jewish painter of 20th century. Goal of the thesis is to highlight symbolic motives of his work, and later on interpret those on selected pieces. The thesis is divided into four parts. First part is devoted to the life of the painter and his jewish origin, which had a significant influence on the character of his work. Second part covers the meaning of symbols in art and religon in general. Third tries to compare Chagall's conveyance with two jewish philosophers of the dialog: E. Lévinas and F. Rosenzweig. Fourth then interprets selected pieces with philosophical or religious extent. Whole thesis is based on the conception that art is able to convey messages and interpret the world around us.

The Hippocratic treatise De arte: translation and commentary
Budeme mít příležitost jasněji spatřit, v čem spočívá ona často zdůrazňovaná "filosofičnost" rané řecké vědy a do jaké míry múžeme v daném období vědu a filosofii vůbec rozlišovat. Přestože...

Konference ELAG 2013 (http://elag2013.org/) se konala 27. - 31. 5. 2013 v Ghentu v Belgii. Pořádajícími institucemi byly Ghent University Library a Ghent University Faculty Library Arts & Philosophy.

Charles University in Prague Faculty of Philosophy and Arts Department of Sociology Study Program: Sociology Family and work arrangements in the context of social changes in the Czech Republic after 1989. Transformations in family and professional starts Mgr. Jana Chaloupková Supervisor: PhDr. Dana Hamplová, Ph.D. 2011 Dissertation abstract This dissertation explores the changes in professional and family starts of young men and women in the Czech Republic. It compares an early family and work trajectories of persons, who reached adulthood in 1990s and those theirs family and work starts occurred before 1989. Theoretical and methodological background of this study draws upon a holistic approach to the life-course study and a sequence analysis. The empirical analyses focus on three domains: 1) a normative context of family and work starts, 2) the development of variability of family and work starts, 3) analysis of similarity (types) of early family and work trajectories. Using ISSP 2002 data, the analysis deals with a sequence of family and work statuses held between 18 and 35 years of age. The analyses of the normative context show that in most European countries social adulthood is more strongly linked to becoming financially independent than to starting a family. In the Czech society dominates a norm of...
