Sport Centre Za Lužánkami Brno
Kociánová, Lenka ; Vostrejž, Dušan (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
Prior to this thesis, there was a specialist course “Sport centre Za Lužánkami Brno”. This project was focused on planning of urbanism-architectural area with a mixture of renovated and new facilities with different functions for sport and leisure, together with professional sport opportunities. The emphasis was on collision-free paths for pedestrians and cyclists, clear transport links around the centre and terrain configuration of the area. The thesis follows on from this project, focusing on development between the hotel Bobycentrum in the South and the Lužánky swimming pool in the North. The idea of the proposal stems from the need to connect the development area to the existing network of pedestrian and cycle paths and the public transport system to minimise the use for individual car travel to the sport centre; and to connect existing and new facilities for leisure and sports. The Sport relax centre was designed with existing buildings in mind and partially follows their ground floor dimensions. The centre creates a barrier from the noisy and busy street and provides a calmer area for outdoor recreation. It fills a gap between the existing buildings and is encircled by a footpath at second level joining to the footbridges over Sportovní Street and the existing terrain in the north-western part. The footpath is ended by passageway between swimming pool and wellness centre. More and more people are looking for sport opportunities in cities however; there are still not enough quality grounds and facilities on offer. The facilities in this development are meant for regular trainings and recreation for the public, including parents with children, groups of friends as well as individual and team sports players, offering a range of day, evening and night activities both indoors and outdoors. Other facilities include outdoor changing rooms and sports equipment rental as well as spaces for meeting friends such as a restaurant, wellness and a dancing-hall.
Interventions using Community-led total sanitation approach (CLTS) in developing countries: an analysis of practical experience
Ficek, František ; Novotný, Josef (advisor) ; Verner, Vladimír (referee)
Interventions using Community-led total sanitation approach (CLTS) in developing countries: an analysis of practical experience Nearly one billion people in developing countries lack an access to basic sanitation facilities and still practice open defecation (OD). In recent years one approach has gained notable popularity among other approaches for improving sanitation, Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), which ultimately aims to establish new social norms that determine behavioral change leading to elimination of OD. While many perceive this approach as a revolutionary way of improving sanitation, it is criticized for its use of unethical practices and its effectiveness has been questioned. This thesis assesses opinions and experience of CLTS implementers obtained via interviews with 19 practitioners from 14 developing countries. Interviews were analyzed using qualitative research methods and evaluated in a context of theoretical knowledge concerning behavioral change, sanitation and hygiene. Obtained insights overall showed that practitioners consider CLTS as an effective tool and are satisfied with its application, but at the same time they are aware of limits and controversies associated with it. They are also aware of needs of a constant improvement and modification depending on the given...
Active Learning of Russian Language at Elementary School
Smékalová, Marie ; Rozboudová, Lenka (advisor) ; Konečný, Jakub (referee)
The objective of this diploma thesis is to explore the possibilities of using Learner- centred methods in teaching Russian language. The thesis deals with Learner-centred methods in teaching Russian language at elementary schools and offers a didactic material based on this methodology. Withn the theoretical framework of the thesis the basic concepts are defined as well as the Communicative approach towards language teaching is characterised and discussed. Learner-centedred methods are viewed not only as a useful tool for more effective language learning, but also as an unseparable part of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). Drawing on CLT, the communicative criterion is applied in the following classification of Learner- centered methods. Using the Learner-centered methodology, the practical part of the thesis offers a didactic material. The materiel is intended for Rusisan language students and was tested in Elementary schools. In the last part of the thesis the material is analyzed. On the basis of this analysis conclusions are drawn and possibilities of Learner-centered methods in Russian language teaching are described. KEYWORDS: teaching methods, Learner-centered teaching methods, foreign language teaching, Russian language teaching, didactic material

Kindergarten in Horní Heršpice
Gryčová, Jana ; Jelínková, Barbora (referee) ; Ostrý, Milan (advisor)
The master´s thesis deals with the project documentation of the kindergarten in Horní Heršpice. The structure is designed as a detached building with one floor. Solid wood panels (type CLT) from the Novatop company were selected as the structural system. The building is based on foam glass, on which there is a reinforced concrete slab. One part of the building is topped by a flat „green roof“, and the second part with a slanted roof. Access to the building is from the north, where the parking is also situated.
Evaluation of load-deformation characteristics of glued timber using DIC analysis
Šot, Michal ; Vejpustek,, Zdeněk (referee) ; Vaněrek, Jan (advisor)
The work deals with issues of evaluation of the shear properties of timber structural materials, particularly CLT elements. The work contains an overview of extensive research so far presented scientific studies dealing with the characteristic shear properties of wood. In the practical part was carried out the experiment dealing with the failure mode of transverse lamellae of CLT elements that were exposed to shear stress. There were observed individual effects that this may affect the material properties. In the first part of the experiment were performed numerical models using FEM. In the second part, the test specimens were tested in three point bending. Here, attention was paid to the influence of macroscopic properties of wood on the distribution of stress cracks and shear strength, the tests were recorded using DIC system.
