Social mission of the church and program documents of the European Union
Charousová, Hana ; Ovečka, Libor (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
Masters thesis SOCIAL MISSION OF THE CHURCH AND PROGRAMMING DOCUMENTS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION Hana Charousová Resumé The contemporary world is being led towards total globalization, material development, economic prosperity and technocratic society. The aim of this Masters thesis is to point out that the contemporary world challenges people to maintain human values, support moral and spiritual life and humankind generally. My work focuses on the situation of the Catholic Church and other churches in our society, most of all on their social mission, which comes out of Christian teaching. I want to demonstrate that these churches can and should have a position of value in contemporary, modern, pluralistic society. At the same time, through this thesis, I would like to inspire churches to be more involved in practical aspects of society, especially in social problem-solving. To do this, however, churches need financial backing. For that reason, this thesis will provide practical suggestions for obtaining financial support, for example from European Structural Funds, especially the European Social Fund. Practice of Reading Skills in Teaching German - from the Contemporary Didactics' Point of View
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Niklas Luhmann and the ecological discussion: a sociological approach to environmental problems
Stehlík, Martin ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Holeček, Tomáš (referee)
1 Abstract The bachelor thesis deals with sociological approach to environmental problems in Niklas Luhmann's systems theory and proceeds mainly from Luhmann's book Ecological communication. The first charpter contains a brief summary of various forms of relation between sociology and environmental problems. The main part of the thesis is dedicated to a presentation of Luhmann's general sociological theory and its application to contemporary environmental problems. From Luhmann's viewpoint, it is an issue of the relation between the system of society and its environment. According to Luhmann, the possibilities of a social reaction to environmental problems are limited in two ways: because of the selectivity of social relations to environment and because of functional differentiation, i.e., the creation of operationally closed function systems within the system of society. Subsequently, I complete the explanation of Luhmann's position with the selected comments and critiques of Ecological communication. I also present Ulrich Beck`s theory of risk society and point out its connection to Luhmann's approach, particularly in the case of functional differentiation of modern society.

Blažková Sršňová, Šárka ; Beneš, Milan (advisor) ; Kopecký, Martin (referee) ; Jakoubek, Marek (referee)
The doctoral thesis deals with questions of intercultural education in context of foreign language teaching and learning by adults. Language and culture are interrelated and inseparable from each other in terms of their acquirement. Language is the main medium through which culture is expressed, language doesn't exist without culture. Contemporary foreign language education gives priority to integrative acquiring of language and culture, i.e. it is necessary to learn culture by means of language and language by means of culture. Culture and interculturality are significant and key part of foreign language education and fundamental for the development and formation of the student's personality. The main topic of this thesis is the study of the relationship between foreign language teaching and learning versus intercultural learning by adults. The main goal of the thesis is to find and describe what possibilities and media contemporary foreign language learning and teaching anticipate for involving and implementing of culturological paradigm. The text also focuses on some problematical questions in view of the essence of intercultural education, namely in relation to foreign language education. The thesis concerns with the language education of adults in the Czech Republic.

Stage design on the border with nontheatrical art fields
Roubíčková, Hana ; Matásek, Petr (advisor) ; Žižka, Tomáš (referee)
The teoretical part The Stage Design on The Border With Nontheatrical Art Fields is an essay to the short movie The Long Arm of Melancholia, a practical part of my magister work. I take a think about the subject field of Stage-design, I am exploring what the Stage-design means for me personally and trying to outline the creative path to my own project. I handle directly or tip-off on such terms as: primitivism, low culture displays (popular amusement), an image trash, an avantgard experiment, a child?s creativity, the self-creative notice, etc. Associated historical contexts are the beginning of the twentieth century such as avant-garde and the birth of cinematography, and an intuitive selection of contemporary art images. The work is concluded by reflection on the creative process of my movie.

New Methods in Statistical Speech Recognition
Klusáček, David ; Hajič, Jan (advisor) ; Psutka, Josef (referee) ; Černocký, Jan (referee)
Title: New Methods in Statistical Speech Recognition Author: David Klusáček Department: Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics (ÚFAL), Faculty of Mathematics and Physics in Prague, Malostranské náměstí 25, 118 00 Praha 1. Advisor: Prof. RNDr. Jan Hajič, Dr., Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics. Abstract: This works aims to identify limits of contemporary speech rec- ognizers and tries to come up with methods that could push back the fron- tiers. After describing the state of the art, the weakest link of the chain has been identified in the acoustic front-end, especially when working in harsh acoustic conditions. NUFIBA front-end, the proposed solution, includes re- verb compensation and speaker/background segmentation as well as contin- uous SNR monitoring which, thru cooperation with acoustic model, hinders from avalanche spreading of recognition errors. Owing to the lack of time, only a phoneme recognizer was finally implemented, although large blocks of originally intended word-based continuous speech recognizer were implemented and tested (such as the MMI-class based language model).
