Milan Kundera's The Joke supervised. Critical reception of the novel in the context of its release and today

Diploma thesis "Milan Kundera's 'The Joke' supervised. Critical reception of the novel in the context of its release and today" deals with critical reflection of the novel 'The Joke' in the period from the end of the 1960's up to current reviews. The author dedicates first chapters to the cultural and political background of the release. The core of the thesis focuses mostly on critical reception of the novel, which is divided into three historical periods. In the first part of the critical historical analysis and qualitative analysis, the author examines critical acceptance of the novel in the aftermath of its release (1967- 1969), in the Czechoslovakian and exiled journals and literary magazines in particular. The second part considers critical reaction to the novel throughout 1970's and 80's, and stresses outcomes of the reception in the sixties, official normalized critical reviews and the acceptance in the exile and samizdat literature as well. Finally, the last part of the thesis offers contemporary critical response to 'The Joke', analyzed on the basis of journals, literary magazines and newly emergent Kundera's monographs. What is criticism, what is not and what use is in the world. Typology of Czech literary criticism in the years 1995-2008

This bachelor's thesis describes the development of literary criticism conception and it's earlier typology. The thesis deals with the difference between literary criticism and reviews - how these dissimilarities appear in theory and in practice. The applicable typology for present Czech literary criticism has been suggested in this thesis. The typology mentioned divides literary criticism into two main types: text-oriented criticism and context-oriented criticism. It discusses the development of value conception and what is a value even nowadays. For contemporary literary critics it is originality, credibility of the work and composition. It provides information on how criticism is presented by individual Czech periodicals including Host, A2, Revolver Revue, Tvar, Souvislosti and Literární noviny.
Contemporary czech film criticism as endangered genre

This thesis called "Contemporary Czech Film Criticism as an Endangered Genre" is supposed to assess the contemporary image of the film criticism in the Czech printed serials, that apply to it steadily, to chart significant Internet alternatives of the film criticism (critic and fan blogs), to describe some ways of their coexistence and mutual influences. First part is devoted to a research of the meaning of the term "criticism", what its intention is, which functions it should fulfill, which kinds of it could be distinguished and how it should be written. The second part is focused on the film criticism in the light of its historic position in the age of wide extension of the Internet, when a new branch of the film criticism has appeared apart from the journalistic one and the one of the film studies - this branch is formed by movie fans, who publish on the Internet. The third part examines the contemporary position and tendencies of the film criticism in the Czech printed media, the subject of an illustrative analyses are the articles that rank the actual films in cinemas in four concrete printed serials - one nationwide daily and three specialized film magazines.
Media responses of Italo Calvino's writing in the in Czech and Italian periodicals

The objective of this thesis is the analysis of the media reception of chosen works of Italo Calvino in Czech and Italian periodicals. The first chapter discusses the literary criticism. The following chapter introduces the writer's life and moments determining his literary production. The mainstay of this work is divided into four chapters and is dedicated to the period literary crticism of the works chosen which were released in newspapers or literary periodicals both in Italy and the Czech Republic. The most significant reception showed the books The Path of the Spider's Nest, Invisible Cities, If on a Winter's Night a Traveler and Six Memos for the Next Millenium.

The thesis reviews and provides comparison of immigration policies of Germany, Italy and the Netherlands from post-WW2 years to the late 1990s. With regards to the different historical, cultural and social background of each country the dissertation thesis defines the unique approach to immigration and perception of immigrants in each country. The ultimate aim of the thesis is to explain the circumstances that lead to the specific events in the history of immigration policies of the countries in question and bring comprehension in this often overlooked matter.

Furthemore, the work deals with making and wiring of laboratory desks, specifically laboratory desk of the Department of power electrical and electronic engineering, and his ergonomic design.
What is Art Criticism?

The Bachelor's thesis will focus on the exploration of the concept of art criticism. In the first part, the author will focus on the presentation of the basic types of activities associated with the art criticism (reproach, interpretation, evaluation, etc.) and explore their relationships. First part of the thesis paper will be supported by the theoretical writings from the 20th century dedicated to the concept of art criticism. Obtained analysis will be used in the second part of the thesis paper and applied onto the analysis of Czech art critiques of one personality who publishes in an academic journal, one personality who publishes in a daily press and one personality who publishes on public web portal.

This bachelor's thesis is devoted to metal oxide surge arresters. After historical and theoretical introduction, which explains their principles and describes their characteristical properties, analysis of the standard IEC 60099-4 and testing according to the standard with focus on the type tests follows. This chapter is also amended with review of the standard's imperfections and with its most probable future development. The work concludes with a market survey, a review of the largest manufacturers and a comparison of their products.
