Are There Any Digital Curators in Czech Libraries?
Římanová, Radka ; Melichar, Marek
The development of digital repositories reveals the need for new Czech terminologies for library positions. One such job title or specialization is “digital curator”, a term which refers to a specialist responsible for digital collections. Competencies for digital curators include technical, organizational, communication, and marketing skills as well as some level of expertise in computer science as well as in information and library science. A survey of several administrators of Czech digital libraries asks how to best professionally label this group of library staff with respect to the actual activities they perform in their jobs - digital curators, administrators of digital libraries, or digital librarians? Job titles have a strong impact on higher education curricula, on the management of libraries, and also on the coordinated system of remuneration of employees at libraries, academic, and research institutions.

Small Size Municipality Revenues in Czech Republic
JIREKOVÁ, Kateřina
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the system of municipality incomes in the Czech Republic with respect to specifics of small municipalities. In last few years these municipalities have become a frequently discussed topic because of their lower incomes. The legislation has been devoting to this problem since 2008 and the differences between large and small municipalities in the Czech Republic were removed. There is income analysis of all municipalities in the Czech Republic from 2000 up to 2012 in this thesis. The municipalities were divided into two groups. The first group contains small villages, defined as municipalities up to 499 inhabitants. In the second group there are other municipalities of the Czech Republic except small villages, statutory cities and the Capital City of Prague. The real data were recalculated per head for this analysis and minimum, maximum, median and arithmetic mean were found. Variability of incomes is evaluated from these results. Regression and correlation analysis is made in some groups of revenues because of finding dependence among variables. Disparity in incomes of small towns and other communities is assessed by comparing the arithmetic means and medians between groups of municipalities using a Two-Sample t-test and Mann-Whitney test. Revenue growth is evaluated determination of the trends of the time series using linear regression. Some specifics in financing small villages were found from these analyzes. There was also confirmation of the hypothesis that small municipalities have lower incomes per an inhabitant.

Stress situations and nursing personnel
MAREŠOVÁ, Lucie
This thesis deals with the stressful situations in the profession of the nursing staff. The occupation of the nurse belongs to the most demanding ones. In this occupation, the nurse is permanently affected by many stressors of different types. She faces death, the suffering, dying and incurably ill people very often. She is there in times of pain, agony and suffering. Personal encounters with these difficult situations require highly professional approach but most of all, they present immense work stress for the nurse. The theory section describes mainly the stressful situations that are the most common and most difficult in the work of the nursing staff. The next part of the theory section describes possible consequences of the stressful situations and methods of managing them including the support by the management. This thesis has two objectives. The first objective was to map the manners used by the nursing personnel to cope with the stressful situations brought by their profession. The second objective was to find out the difference in the coping with the stressful situations between the hospital staff and hospice staff. The research section of this thesis contains the quantitative research done using the technique of an anonymous questionnaire with 20 question prepared by ourselves. The questionnaire was distributed to the nursing staff of all categories in the hospital and hospice care. It was completed by 269 respondents in total. The data was statistically processed using systems Microsoft Excel 2010 and Software R, version 3.0.2 (Chi-squared test, Fisher´s exact test, and Wilcoxon test). We determined four hypotheses. H1: Manners of coping with the stressful situations depend on the qualification of the nursing staff reached; not confirmed. H2: Manners of coping with the stressful situations are influenced by the length of practice of the staff; not confirmed. H3: Manners of coping with the stressful situations differ between the hospital staff and hospice staff; confirmed. H4: The nursing staff views their own mental hygiene as more efficient than the support from the management concerning the coping with the stressful situations; confirmed. The research results show that the nursing staff faces the stressful situations very often. They see as the heaviest stress the care of the suffering and aggressive patient, conflicts with the patient´s family, conflicts at work and workload. The manners of coping with the work burden which proved as the best for them are relax, rest and sleep. There were no differences proved in the manners of coping with the stress among respective members of the nursing team. Nevertheless, the coping with the work burden of the nursing staff in the hospital and hospice care is different. A minimum of the respondents notices any support during the stressful situations from the employer. On the other hand, certain support by the management could be viewed in the form of trainings, supervision or contribution to a "recovery" which are granted to the respondents from the employer according to their answers. However, the respondents would prefer, as the support by the management, the increase in pay or more days off. The respondents view as insufficient the preparation of the graduates for the future stressful situations in their profession, as well. They would recommend mainly various trainings dealing with the stress and its management. A good solution to alleviate the work burden of the nursing staff and quality enhancement of the services provided could be investments into better work conditions, both in terms of sufficient human and material resources and the very organization of the work processes.

How to prevent the proliferation of Legionella pneumophylis in hot water in the hospital Czech Krumlov
TUREK, Jan
This diploma thesis deals with microbiological quality of hot water in a hospital in Cesky Krumlov as well as hot water piping condition with respect to Legionella. It also deals with arrangements for improving the quality of hot water in this hospital. The subject and target of this thesis are the findings of the mentioned parameters based on own observations, technical documentation and analysis of warm water performed by an accredited laboratory. The hospital in Cesky Krumlov, the construction of which began in 1909, was built in 1911 as the 'Nemocnice Císaře Františka Josefa I.' As the time went by, new buildings were built up. The hospital was renamed to 'Všeobecná veřejná nemocnice' in 1942. In the following years the hospital expanded until the current condition. Water quality and presence of Legionella is a world-wide issue, which we must fight against. The thesis is divided into two parts. First, theoretical part, which includes both general and specific knowledge about Legionella, its health risks, the environment in which it occurs, possibilities of eliminating, suitability of the material for hot water pipes, gained in professional literature and a part of the Czech legislation dealing with public health protection, the law 'No. 258/2004 Coll.' in actual version and quality of drinking water and hot water. In the second, empirical part, I focus on the situation of the hospital in Cesky Krumlov from 2009 till 2015, concerning newly built boiler room and the whole distribution system of hot water regarding Legionella. Particularly I focused on materials used for ecologisation of the gas boiler room and materials used for hot water pipes and actual state of water distribution in individual buildings of this health care facility. I mentioned the analysis of the water samples performed by an accredited laboratory with corresponding technical documentation, which concerns the water distribution system, provided by the medical facility. I used secondary data analysis to evaluate these documents. Regarding the results from 2009 to 2015 the microbiological quality of warm water doesn't meet the limits defined in the Attachment No. 3 of the above mentioned law Order 252/2004 Coll. Limit value for colony forming units of Legionella is set to maximum of 100 CFU. In most of the samples this limit was exceeded by series of units up to hundred thousands of units. The last results in 2015 prove improvement of the unfavorable situation. In that year the analysis was tested three times. First in February, where the CFU units were 'only' in hundreds, with the top value of 550 CFU in the Postacute Care ward. Second analysis was performed in June that same year. Results were acceptable. The highest value was 64 CFU. Last analysis in the hospital was performed in December. Increased concentration of Legionella was again in the Surgery building. There were established of 1400 colony forming units. There were 300 CFU in the Postacute Care ward and the limit value of 100 CFU was in the ward of Internal medicine. The answers to research questions 'How to prevent reproduction of Legionella peumophylis in the water distribution system of the hospital in Cesky Krumlov?' and 'How to ensure a sufficient amount of quality hot water in the medical facility?' are included at the end of the stated recommendations. A risk factor causing the fast reproduction of Legionella is the old water distribution system in most of the buildings and low water temperature of water leaving the boiler, which is 55°C. All mentioned results and evaluations are included in this thesis as well as attached pictures, which show the environment and situation within the Health Care Institutions.

Jáchymov as a Book awarded with a Prize and an Anti-prize: the Analysis of the Czech translation awarded with the Anti-prize Skřipec and its correction
COUFALOVÁ, Markéta
The first part of this Bachelor thesis is based on the translational theory by the Czech linguist and translator Jiří Levý. On these grounds the terms translation and bad translation are defined as well as the reasons and consequences of bad translation. Furthermore other relevant translational theories are introduced. In the end the meaning and relevance of an anti-prize are discussed while the Czech literary anti-prize Skřipec is presented. The core of the practical part of the thesis is the critical analysis focused on the Czech translation of the novel Jáchymov by Josef Haslinger, which received the above-mentioned anti-award in 2012. First of all, the content of the book is and then the reception of the novel in German and Czech speaking countries are presented. The major part consists of the comparison of both, the original German novel and its Czech translation, in order to discover the mistakes in the Czech version of the book. These are subsequently classified and commented with respect to Levý´s translational theory. Last but not least a correction of the wrong passages is conducted.

Prefabricated houding estates today - Jižní město (Southern Town) through the eyes of two generations of its first inhabitants
Barvíková, Jana ; Illner, Michal (advisor) ; Temelová, Jana (referee) ; Maier, Karel (referee)
Prefabricated housing estates today - Jižní Město (Southern Town) through the eyes of two generations of its first inhabitants The current state and possible development of prefabricated housing estates is a very serious issue and there are many blank spaces on the present knowledge map that have not been investigated yet, as well as questions that have not been answered yet. At the same time, prefabricated housing estates in the Czech Republic represent an issue on which most of the general as well as professional public (across the impacted fields) has a clear opinion, which is frequently quite firm, even though they may have no -- or only minimal -- personal or professional experience with the environment. The fact that the real situation at the housing estates may be quite different from the image of housing estates perceived from the outside -- as presented by the media and viewed by "outsiders" that do not live in housing estates and do not actually know that much about them, except how the housing estates come across physically and what feelings and notions they evoke in them -- is the basic hypothesis that is tested in this thesis. This hypothesis is based on findings from domestic research as well as research from abroad that in contrast to the problematic reputation -- respectively image -- that...

Cell culture-based model for the evaluation of adhesive properties of probiotic bacteria
Theodorou, Vasiliki ; Havlík, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Tauchen, Jan (referee)
Probiotic microorganisms, defined as living microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit to the host, and their adhesion and colonization of intestinal epithelium, are critical factors in maintaining probiotic efficacy. Polyphenols are a large and heterogeneous group of phytochemicals in plant-based foods, such as tea, coffee, wine, cocoa, cereal grains, soy, fruits and berries. In the last decade, there has been much interest in the health benefits of dietary plant polyphenols that arise from their potential ability to promote adhesion of probiotic bacteria to the human intestinal epithelium. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of four polyphenols: isoquercetrin, phloretin, procyanidin B2 and rutin on the adhesion ability of two potentially probiotic strains (Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus gasseri) to in vitro human intestinal epithelial model consisting of Caco-2 and mucus-secreting HT29-MTX co-culture. The adhesion of Lactobacillus casei after treating the co-culture cell lines with isoquercetrin, phloretin, and rutin was increased by 49.76, 72.97, 63.66 % respectively, whereas procyanidin B2 inhibited the adhesion 20.25% compared with the control sample. The adhesion of Lactobacillus gasseri after treatment of the co-culture with isoquercetrin, phloretin, procyanidin B2 and rutin was increased by 35.45, 31.28, 45.69, 25.01 % respectively compared with the control sample.

Effect of sex on growth and formation of dorsal muscle of pigs
Fáberová, Gabriela ; Čítek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Zadinová, Kateřina (referee)
Effect of sex on growth and formation of dorsal muscule of pigs Summary The aim of this thesis is to determine the influence of gender on the growth and formation of the pigs dorsal muscle. Growth is one of the basic phenomenon characterizing living organism. Is a creation of nonliving to living matter. The amount of body mass is not constant through the life, it is changing significantly. In the early postnatal period is skeleton growing faster compared to muscles and fat then leads to faster growth of muscle and in the last period called maturity to the fattening. Evaluating growth has a significant gender effect. In case of pigs, it is common to feed barrows and gilts. Nowadays it begins to think about feeding of boars or the imunocastrates. Due to different hormonal activities we can expect different muscle and fat deposition. The task of this study was to clarify the influence of gender on the formation and growth of pigs dorsal muscle. There were 72 pigs tested in total. Pigs were housed in pairs in cotes and divided by gender for pigs, boars, imunocastrates and sows. This subpopulation of genotype DanBred animals were divided to 1/4 (18ks) uncastrated male pigs (K) 1/4 (18ks) hormonally castrated male pigs (I), 1/4 (18ks) barrows (V) and 1/4 (18ks ) gilts (P). Average live weight of pigs at the start of the trial was 28.5 kg, while the test was conducted to average 107 kg bodyweight. Through all time pigs were fed ad-libitum KKS. During the test it was monitored at weekly intervals individual live weight, back fat thickness at A, B, muscle depth at A, B and the total percentage of muscle for all categories of pigs. The obtained results show that the growth and formation of a long dorsal muscle are influenced by gender. When comparing the weight in a given period, we conclude that during the time the difference between gilts and imunocastrates grow up. Best growth had imunocastrates gilts similarly, only was there an earlier stop of the growth. The highest increase in fat and muscle measured at the A and B, occurred in pigs, in sows we can see increasing gains in fat with respect to the period in which they are fattening. Boars had the lowest backfat thickness, imunocastrates. With imunocastrates we evaluate low fat increase compared to the beginning of the observation. The biggest muscle depth measured at A and B had the barrows with gilts and imunocastrates and especially boars did not reach the values as barrows and gilts, who had the highest muscle depth. Biggest % of muscle was measured in sows. A large proportion of muscle can be seen in male pigs. The proportion of muscle mass of imunocastrates was under the average and worst ratio of muscle had especially at the end of feeding barrows indicating that with increasing age there is a significant fattening, compared to the remaining groups of pigs Keywords: pig, growth rate, muscle fibers

The influence of time in feed enrichment with unsaturated fatty acids to selected parameters of pig carcass value with regard to the fatty acid composition of intramuscular fat
Pantoflíček, Jiří ; Čítek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Miloslav, Miloslav (referee)
The thesis aims to evaluate the impact of aliment with higher contents of unsaturated fatty acids, consumed for a different period of time, to utilitarian attributes of pigs before a slaughter, with respect to the composition of fatty acids in the intramuscular fat of tested animals. The factors that influence the quality of meat are interior, exterior and technological. Among the qualitative markers of quality of meat we rank the share of meat and fat, acidification rate, color, viscosity, contents of intramuscular fat (marbling), smell, taste, juiciness and delicacy. Together with hygienic and nutritive attributes, consumers and processors consider these technological and sensory aspects to be the most important. The ultimate goal of this thesis is to compare the impact of different length of feeding soy oil on parameters of pork meat quality and growth. However, the interference of growth attributes was inconclusive and the test result came similar in different groups of tested pigs. What was influenced by adding the soy oil into the feed is the fatty acids profile. The contents of fatty acids remained unchanged in every test group. Over time the content of monounsaturated fatty acids decreased. The most significant change occurred in representation of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which increased in the test groups with longer period of feeding with enriched feed, mostly at the expense of monounsaturated fatty acids. The differences between the test groups of pigs were statistically inconclusive; therefore the soy oil enrichment did not worsen the technological parameters of meat and fat quality. The longer period of feeding the soy oil enriched feed led to significant increase in polyunsaturated fatty acids. According to the findings, adding the soy oil into the feed will have no effect at all if done short time before the slaughter.

The effect of the operator on the accuracy of the estimates of lean meat share in pigs
Jiravová, Renata ; Šprysl, Michal (advisor) ; Libor , Libor (referee)
The aim of the study followed the determination of operator error, ie repeatability, or influence of the measuring point on the accuracy of the estimate of lean meat share (LMP). It was a FOM-SFK instrument measured at prescribed locations the backfat thickness, muscle depth, and thus their LMP in their carcass realization in SEUROP system. For this purpose a total of 71 hybrid pigs (Dan-Bred) were measured at the Velvary slaughterhouse. In order to determine the error from incorrectly determined place of measurement, the following six classification insertions were done per one animal, thus 1. 2nd -- 3rd last rib 7 cm off the midline (right point), 2. 2nd -- 3rd last rib 7 cm off the midline (repeat in the same hole), 3. 2nd -- 3rd last rib 1 cm caudal to the right point, 4. 2nd -- 3rd last rib 1 cm cranial to the right point, 5. 3rd -- 4th last rib 1 cm medial to the right point, 6. 1st --2nd last rib 1 cm lateral to the right point. Measurements were performed on the carcass that insertion 2 should be identical with insertion 1, insertions 3 and 4 were moved 1 cm off insertion 1 in the cranial or caudal direction and insertions 5 and 6 were moved by 1 rib from insertion 1 in the cranial or caudal direction respectively. Classification was held by FOM instrument, for further comparison also by ZP method. For the above classifications following regression equations were used. For: - FOM y= 81,8909+0,2006*M+14,1911*ln S, kde M=MLLT depth, S =backfat thickness, - ZP y= 76,6722--1,0485*M+0,00794*M2--0,002884*S2+9,0151*ln (M/S), kde M = MLLT depth, S= backfat thickness. Calculation and comparison of the results was performed by statistical program SAS Propriety Software Release 6.04, differences were tested by analysis of variance. Based on the results we can say that a given hypothesis was confirmed. Also, in the realization of slaughter pigs in SEUROP system can be stated that - by invasive technique FOM - precise LMP determination of the carcass is a function of the need for precise determination of the puncture site of operator, - accuracy of the backfat thickness as well as LMP estimate is affected by repeated punctures, - more reliably is measured the backfat thickness with repeated injection than the muscle depth due to its possible deformation, - inaccuracy of repeated measurements (repeatability) will not significantly affect the carcass classification into classes at the slaughterhouse; any errors will occur to the detriment of the supplier, - the injection shift 1 rib cranially respectively caudally affect the overall carcass classification more than shift the injection 1 cm medially or laterally away from the spine, - in the case of an unsuccessful measurement the best is to repeat the puncture or the second puncture shift 1 cm caudal or repeat puncture between the 2nd and the 3rd thoracic vertebra 1 cm towards the spine, - non-invasive technique ZP, compared to FOM, underestimates the LMP estimate by about 1,4%.
