The Sunday Christ
Záruba - Pfeffermann, Josef ; Royt, Jan (advisor) ; Kubík, Viktor (referee) ; Klípa, Jan (referee)
The work is a monograph on the late medieval devotional image of Sunday Christ (Feiertagschristus, Christo della Domenica, Svjeta Nedelja, Christ du dimanche, Sváteční Kristus). The main aim of this research was to create a complete catalogue of all examples of the "Sunday Christ" image and explain its origins and development. Origins of this image are found in the various conceptions of the continual Christ's suffering for our sins. The author is using the recent bibliography on this image (Koman, Reiss, and Rigaux) but the concept of the development is based more on the definition by Gertrud Schiller. The origins are seen in the mystical images from the cloister environment.- Sponsus pierced by Sponsa, Mystical nailing, nailing with various tools, Arma Christi, fabrication of Arma Christi, and other motifs found especially in the art of female convents. The pastoral care of nuns was usually practiced by Dominicans and other preaching orders, which probably modified some of the images of perpetual passion for the use of laity. As a certain reflection of this contemplative phase we may consider the Casatanense Manuscript (Rome, MS 1404) and mystical visions of Archbishop John of Jenstein, (1379) which included an ecclesiastical image of Christ attacked by Christians. The mural paintings had been painted in...

Duality of the legal regulation of a dominant position in EU competition law
Pavel, Jan ; Svoboda, Pavel (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Václav (referee)
Résumé The presented work addresses the issue of the double-tracking nature of a dominant position in European competition law. The aim of the integration efforts during the establishment of the EU was the creation of an internal market, especially the customs union. In order to achieve this state, it was necessary to take a number of integration measures and create a legal framework, i.e. conditions, under which economic competition in the internal market could operate effectively. In this context a variety of legislation valid for the whole EU territory has been accepted. However, in the context of the economic competition this work analyzes the legislation on market dominance carried out first in Article 102 of TFEU (Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union) prohibiting restrictive business practices in the form of abuse of a dominant position and also in Council Regulation (EEC) No 4064/89 and later in Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 regulating the control of concentrations between undertakings. In case of both the legislations the crucial question is the "dominant position" of an enterprise in the market, while Article 102 of TFEU represents the ex post control, i.e. applies only to the possible abuse of the dominant position, and in this sense the dominant position itself is not the...

The position of Switzerland in international relations
Králová, Kateřina ; Veselý, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Matějka, Zdeněk (referee)
The present bachelor thesis follows up the development of the Switzerland's position in the international relations. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the circumstances of the inception and the progress of permanent neutrality of a small state, their influence on its current position and especially its significance in the contemporary international system. All of the small states make efforts to find an effective security strategy at affordable costs and on the high level of the security. Switzerland is a state with marginal influence on the development of the international political scene which seeks opportunities to exercise neutrality in the current world order. The thesis is divided into four chapters, the first gives the definition of the small state and the neutrality, including its codification, rights and duties. The other three chapters focus on the distinctive case of Swiss permanent neutrality, its development, and possible threats to the future of the state. An important part of the final chapter is the criticism of Swiss neutrality and possible ways in which Switzerland could set out to retain its permanent neutrality.

Situation of disadvantaged groups in the Zlin region
Zavadilová, Petra ; Prášilová, Marie (advisor)
The thesis deals with the position of disadvantaged groups of the population in the Zlín region. In the theoretical part contains the basic concepts related to physically disadvantaged groups of the population, the employment of these people, care about these groups, the support and contributions not only to the employer. The empirical part is focused on the statistical analysis of the unemployed population groups on the labour market and on the analysis of a survey conducted in order to verify the validity of assumptions, including an analysis of the responses to individual questions. At the conclusion of the thesis are summarized and evaluated the results of the analysis and also proposed measures for improving the position of disadvantaged groups of the population In the Zlín region.

"Very much a woman of reason and propriety": Ann Radcliffe's female gothic romances and their eighteenth-century contexts
Klosová, Kateřina ; Nováková, Soňa (advisor) ; Kolinská, Klára (referee)
In 1977 Ellen Moers in her Literary Women coined "Female Gothic" as a new term in literary criticism. In this she seemed to be laying the foundation for a new conception and specific way of thinking about women writers as related to the Gothic genre. Moers in her critical book on women's writing claims that the Female Gothic is "easily defined: the work that women writers have done in the literary mode that, since the eighteenth century, we have called the Gothic"1. Nevertheless, along with other terms, Female Gothic was quickly adopted by the feminist critics and especially during the eighties of the twentieth century its interpretation underwent distinct changes. As Avril Horner and Sue Zlosnik observe, since the late seventies "it has been increasingly acknowledged that women writers have made use of the non-realist Gothic mode in order to explore the problematic nature of female subjectivity in Western patriarchal culture"2. Thus, what was originally conceived of as a specific coinage for the Gothic novels distinct by their female authorship, became a term encompassing the specificities of both woman style of writing and of the woman character as a means for the exploration of female experience. The application of the term became more focused and consequently rather limited in the late 1980s. This was...

Linguistic means of present french language in the field of ecology
Hrbková, Olga ; Loucká, Hana (advisor) ; Štichauer, Jaroslav (referee)
Professional style includes scientific style, practical-expert style and popular educational style. The intial theoretical introduction is followed by an analysis on four levels: pragmatic, discursive, the theme-rheme structure and lexical-syntactic. The analysis i s based on a comparison of texts which belong to various areas of professional style and thematically pertain to the subject of ecology. Description of linguistic means is used as a foundation for the analysis on the syntactic and lexical level as well as the analysis of specific features in syntactic, morphological and lexical structure: - syntactic approach examines the use of various sentential constructions and word order in relation to the standards of professional style; - morphological approach focuses on the use of grammatical tenses and grammatical moods - lexical approach surveys the use ofterminology and word-forming process. The method applied determines specific requirements for analysis on individua! levels: on the pragmatic level we study pragmatic factors ofthe communication act. On discursive level we describe overall organization and types oftextual units. On the theme-rheme structure we focus on the arrangement of semantic components within a sentence from the functional sentence perspective and the potential of these...

Employment in a state-funded institution
Brožová, Milena ; Světlíková, Daniela (advisor) ; Pikola, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on employment in a state-funded institution. It is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part deals with analysis of legal regulations and their interpretation. The method of description is used in this part. The focus in legal regulations is on the problems of a state-funded institution, namely on the legal position and functioning and on management. The focus is also on labour relations, from the general definition to the conclusion of employment for a fixed period of time. The analysis of legal regulations is complemented with interpretations of authors of specialized publications. Direct and indirect quotations are used in the text and are marked with footnotes. The empirical part of this thesis deals with the application of legal regulations in a particular state-funded institution. The order of researched areas is in accordance with the theoretical part. The method of comparison and study of documents and internal regulations are used for analysing the data. The primary research has shown that the legal regulations are applied without difficulty. The discovered discrepancy between the used terminology and the terminology in the Civil code does not invalidate legal documents and thus there is no need to mark it as a defect which needs to be fixed. Suggestions for discussion have been made, for which measures were proposed in the concluding part. The suggestions relate to arrangement of employment for a fixed period of time and its change to permanent contract and to allowance from the founder as a financial mean of a state-funded institution.

The hospital of St. Paul in Prague
Katovská, Jitka ; Ebelová, Ivana (referee) ; Hojda, Zdeněk (advisor)
The institution of St. Paul 's Hospital in Prague belongs to social-charitable institutions that had taken care of the needed poor, ill, old, widows and orphans in the early modern period. The history of St. Paul 's Hospital had taken place in the area behind Poříčská brána and after the thirty year 's war in so called Temple. Certain amount of information, explaining not only economic and administrative functioning of St. Paul 's Hospital but also the history of day-to-day activities of the inhabitants, has been preserved in the hospital books in the Archive of the capital city Prague. The diploma thesis analyses material background of the hospital, the system of hospital donations, the administrative organisation with an accessible list of hospital clerks, and the quantity of care that the hospital was offering. In the list of the history of St. Paul 's Hospital there is also enumeration of duties and rules that had to be followed in order to stay in the hospital as well as references to the conditions and reasons for the admission of hospital applicants. The comparison with St. Catherine 's Hospital in Regensburg, which is unique for its parity functioning and both catholic and evangelic patients care, brings interesting evidence for the fact that Czech and German institutions do not differ in the basic...

Automata in Infinite-state Formal Verification
